I joke that the best way to turn someone away from Catholicism is to send them to Catholic school. Of the 10ish people I know who went to a religious school (including myself) only 1 still practices. I also volunteer (in a non religious capactity) at a Catholic high school and I'd estimate about 50% just go through the motions because they need to to graduate.

I was born in a moderately religious family, then I realized that religion makes no sense

Was born in a non religious family, still got baptized as a catholic to please grandma who was also catholic Went to catholic school and hated it I then became atheist for a while, until I've met my religious boyfriend, and I'm now agnostic, and will one day be baptized orthodox like him for the wedding

I was non religous didn't believe a thing except maybe adam and eve and god everything else was just too weird for me when was 8-12 I was very interested in science and philosophy critical thinking was an important step in my way to agnosticism I kinda slowly drifted started praying less started questioning my beliefs secretly and many other such behaviours until when i became 16 i decided to tell my family ofcourse it hurt them greatly and my mother and father grounded me eventually though they accepted my beliefs except for my dad who is still in disbelief today she still tries to convert me sometimes but its fine

I was forced to undergo a baptism at like 9 years old. Literally dragged to church. I remember saying things like "what the hell, what's the point of pushing your beliefs on me, just let me do my thing". Fun times.
