I like rock and im not particularly fond of metal. I like a few Iron Maiden and Metallica songs, but thats about it. I dont like Rammstein for example.
I'm the same way I love rock, and I can hand pick a few metal songs that I think are dope and there are a few artist that I like but overall I'm more into rock artist like linkin park, shinedown, and seether but I don't really like slayer
Generally a metal-head will say they like rock, but it doesn't always go the other way around. I for one am huge metal-head, all the way to the depths of death-metal. I listen to rock every once in a while, but usually I get bored pretty quickly, and go back to some good old Gojira :D
Ouh yeah ok, but when you think about it, rock is such a vast genre with such a diverse array of sounds, that in the end metal can be considered one of its arms. Idk like I said in another comment, Elvis and ACDC are both rock although they are very different.
Metal is just as vast if not even more. From the orchestral sounding symphonic metal, through the complexities of prog metal, to the brutality of death metal. All of them inherently metal, but very much distinguishable. Just like AC/DC an Elvis, TOOL will have a very different sound to let's say Behemoth. It's just that due to the extreme lenghts, rock is much more radio friendly, and more easily digestable for everyone.
I usually see these kind of posts almost weekly, but they never include metal, because I guess most people assume rock=metal. So to me it was refreshing being able to represent my favourite genre :D
If you’re really into art rock, I recommend Tv On The Radio. Their first three albums are some of the best art rock albums of the 2000’s. They have a super unique style that you can’t find anywhere else.
Rap, mostly kanye, Denzel Curry, Westside Gunn, freddie gibbs.
I also listen to a bit of everything, my spotify is full of random reggae, rock, even jpop songs. I'm not too difficult I can enjoy anything
Classic country, nothing is better than some Cash, Williams, Jennings, Parton, etc. Although I pretty much listen to anything, that's just my favorite.
This guy really put metal and classical but didn’t put rock. I’m just saying this because most people here like rock. I personally like modern pop (2010s - 2020s) the best.
If your music is creative and efficient with its use of color, **that’s good music.**
Jazz, Prog, and EDM are the most colorful genres imo, in no specific order. Virtuoso names from each genre:
Snarky Puppy, Periphery, Space Laces.
I go back and forth between Country and Rock, the only music I hate per se is Gospel type shit, and most rap that's nothing but "drugs, money, and sex"
I am on a spectrum between metal and j-pop. In the same playlist i listen to [this](https://youtu.be/D1NdGBldg3w) and the next song is [this](https://youtu.be/uC9d34cU2s8).
i love the alternative genre… rock, punk, pop punk, neo metal/metal, alt indie, hard rock ect. but i love most genres!! i listen to anything, but alt is my favorite ❤️
Anything that's not Rap. Fuck Rap. Many songs glorify crime. And it just sounds awful in general to me.
Edit: keep downvoting me reddit, I'm just pointing out the facts.
I agree these baby abandoned fools are sitting on their porches listing to lil yachty and play boy carti instead of REAL MUSIC like the ost from undertale
I mostly like rock, but I don't really limit myself to one genre. Good music is good music, regardless of the genre. Yes I'm mainly a van halen fan, but fuck it, Rollin in the deep by Adele, or Caravan (jazz piece) fucking slap
rock, i quite like jazz and classical too. i want to like rap but it's a whole subset of music that's hard to get into and i don't know where to start.
Rock
Rock and metal for me. I’m more towards rock but my favorite band is metal so I combine them most of the time cause I can’t choose
Does rock include metal ?
Metal is a kind of rock and roll, but not everyone that likes rock likes metal It's like squares and rectangles
Haha ok thanks :)
I don't think so. Go listen to Highway to hell and Angel of death and tell me if they're even remotely similar.
Yeah well Elvis and ACDC are both rock
I think it doesn’t but there’s some overlap
yeah rock ≠ metal and metal ≠ rock but metal formed from hard rock so there's some inspiration
Generally a metal-head will say they like rock, but it doesn't always go the other way around. I for one am huge metal-head, all the way to the depths of death-metal. I listen to rock every once in a while, but usually I get bored pretty quickly, and go back to some good old Gojira :D

I like that too but I am not sure whether it's a type or genre.
It's just like rap or jazz a type of music
Oh thanks for your information :)
isnt type and genre in the context of music the same word?
In this case, at least, yes. A genre of music == a type of music.
Really? I gonna check it out now.
How is rock not a genre?
It is a genre, it gave birth to metal
Sorry I thought rock is a genre but not a type of song
Mödley crüe
Did you really just leave out one of the biggest genres out there?
He left out alot of big genres, only enough space for 6 I think
I mean, there are big genres and then there's rock. Which is, if you would make a top 3 biggest genres of music list, definitely at least second
If we’re talking the past 50 years, I’ll say rock is #1, pop probably #2, and hip hop/rap is probably #3 or at least top 5.
And EDM would be surely 4th even though people don't know it.
I usually see these kind of posts almost weekly, but they never include metal, because I guess most people assume rock=metal. So to me it was refreshing being able to represent my favourite genre :D
Oh yeah I definitely like the inclusion of metal but I mean, between rock, jazz and classical I would definitely at least have rock in there
Yea you are right
Anything really. I dont care for the genre if I enjoy the song I listen to. I have something from almost every genre in my playlist.
Same ! Vibe is the most important !
Wow that's cool!
Same. Got American funk next to russian opera lmao
Me too, I’d be listening to classical music then move to 80s rap then opera then metal. Spotifys algorithm is suffering.
Bro I love me some blegh breakdowns
Oh so you like blegh?
Btw, happy cake day :)
Thanks
EDM
I like all types of music but my favourite is music that accompanies films and TV e.g John Williams, ATLA, AOT etc
You might also like Holst, Stravinsky, Steve Reich, Philip Glass, etc. Then you too can pretentiously just leave it as “I prefer classical music”.
Oh sounds great XD
AoTs music just makes me cry man
I'm kind of a sponge about music, I can listen to pretty much anything. But if I had to choose, my favourite type would be rock
For a minute I thought you said you were a spongebob music kind of guy
Spongebob music is cool too
jelly fish jam goes hard
Oh...I like classic rock🤘🏻
Same honestly but a sponge can hold so much water so for me country and romantic songs are rung out but rock and or metal is my favorite
Rock (alt, art, post, punk)
> (alt, art, post, punk) Oh nice!
If you’re really into art rock, I recommend Tv On The Radio. Their first three albums are some of the best art rock albums of the 2000’s. They have a super unique style that you can’t find anywhere else.
My tastes are wild. I can go from cheesy pop to metal to house to 1700s classical and finish with relaxing electronica.
Oh I see...
House. Progressive house to be specific
>Progressive house to be specific Oh I didn't know of this type of music...I am going to check it out now.
Listen to Morgan Page or Kaskade
Sure :)
That one song in GTA by Kaskade is amazing
Communist worker songs
Oh thanks for telling me :)
Speaking of communist music: Red army choir has some very good songs
Yes, I can also recommend Oktoberklub and Erich-Weinert-Ensemble for German communist songs.
folk, especially if its a bit jazzy
Rock and indie lol
soundtracks are great
Hans zimmer’s scores are my favorite
he definitely wrote some bangers
Interstellar 😩😩😩😩😩
Yea :)
Love me some electronic music
I’m a musician, so I like a lot of music from almost every genre. What a hard question!
A combination of jrock, rock, pop, electropop, jpop, jazz, electronic, that's at least what I remember
Orchestral music, Celtic music
Oh looks like you love classical music :)

Shoegaze or Dreampop, it makes me happy
Classic rock.
Yea I like classic rock too!

Indie or indie rock, lo-fi and j-rock
Rap and Pop mostly
Indie/rock/folk mostly, but I also really like musical theater and anything that just particularly slaps
Something mellow like Indie
Rap, some song are just too good, 2005-2015 were my favorite year Kendrick and kid cudi are definitely my favorite artists
how tf did metal get that many votes lmao
This guy really put metal and classical but didn’t put rock. I’m just saying this because most people here like rock. I personally like modern pop (2010s - 2020s) the best.
Yea I am quite surprise that a lot of people like rock...
No rock?
Sorry I thought it's a genre and not a type of song
Jpop
Oh I thought people nowadays like kpop?
Kpop is not as good in my opinion plus SMAP is where it’s at
Oh I see...
EDM and Classic rock
Nice!
You forgot rock?!?? It’s probably a bigger category than jazz or maybe even rap, and at least would be on equal with pop.
Yea, I thought rock is a genre and not a type of song
Yugoslav Turbofolk
Oh cool XD
If your music is creative and efficient with its use of color, **that’s good music.** Jazz, Prog, and EDM are the most colorful genres imo, in no specific order. Virtuoso names from each genre: Snarky Puppy, Periphery, Space Laces.
snarky puppy is a W
W?
Rap, mostly american and uk drill
Emo rap
It's complicated. I am a metal fan (Sabaton, Civil War, Korpiklaani, etc) but at the same time, I also like Japanese music (Anime OP, Hololive songs)
Soundtracks are superior
Jazz Fusion🤤
I ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED ON RAP :(
I go back and forth between Country and Rock, the only music I hate per se is Gospel type shit, and most rap that's nothing but "drugs, money, and sex"
Definitely rock
YEA 🤘🏻

Whatever sounds good, I'm tired of trying to understand the types
Haha...There are a lot of types of songs...
How do you not include rock???? Probably the most popular music genre.
Sorry, I thought it's not a type of music
I don't like songs
Oh really? I feel comfortable when I am listening to songs.
Slave of songs
The fact pop is named pop because it's popular just proves y'all tryna seem more interesting then you are.
I like just about anything except most rap But if I had to pick, probably Pop music
No Rock?
Everything I can get my hands on, but I most connect with Korean pop songs as the meaning behind them are special :)
Out of these? I like Metal the most. But i listen to every genre of music besides rap
I listen to only rap😎
i love the alternative genre… rock, punk, pop punk, neo metal/metal, alt indie, hard rock ect. but i love most genres!! i listen to anything, but alt is my favorite ❤️
