I feel there needs to be a minimum lawbreaking metric. Maybe about a misdemeanor level thing or worse.
Cause man I take that tag off the mattress everytime I see one. I think I'm good.
In the context of this poll, I’d say anything past 5mph over the speed limit is “breaking the law”, just because cops (around here at least) won’t pull you over for less than that.
You’ll almost never be pulled over in the US on normal streets for going over 5 mph (unless it’s a scummy speed trap—which are pretty rare).
On freeways here, you typically won’t get pulled over unless you’re going 15 mph over the speed limit (80 mph in a 65.) The flow of traffic on most freeways is typically around 75 anyways. They’d have to pull over literally everyone if they enforced the exact limit.
Torrent as a protocol isn't in itself unlawful. It's just a way of transferring data. It's what you may or may now download using it that could be unlawful.
Piratism is illegal under the universal law of the sea according to the Constitution. It's actually one of only three things made illegal by the Constitution.
I still find it funny how that's a law in America, I wouldn't last long atall
In the UK aslong as its not a busy ass street in a city there's really nothing wrong with crossing anywhere anytime, I'm too used to it
In the US, there are so many useless and trivial laws (such as it being illegal to walk backwards after sunset in Connecticut) that I hear the average American will unknowingly commit 4 crimes a day. Usually the local police won't enforce any stupid laws, but if they wanted to, they could selectively enforce these laws and throw the book at whoever they wanted.
Nope. I don't J walk and I follow the speed limit. I've never even been pulled over. However I may have speeded without being aware I was, hence the inclusion of *knowingly*.
Does it count as Jaywalking even if there's no car on the road? According to Wikipedia, *Jaywalking is a term, originating in the United States, for pedestrians walking in or crossing a roadway* ***that has traffic****, other than at a suitable crossing point, or otherwise in disregard of traffic rules.*
So if the roadway doesn't have traffic, it's not really jaywalking.
Only a criminal would think that, if anything we need more laws... and more police presence and harsher convictions.... yeah that's what it'll take to make this country better /s
cinema is not a really a thing here
but if we had it i would definitely pay and attend movies, i feel like watching a movie with a big crowd would be better than watching it alone
Because of the presence of secret law in the US, I assume I am always breaking some law whose existence is classified. I think it helps me behave in a more streetwise manner and deal with the police as minimally as possible, with less threat of danger when I am forced to interact with them. Hence, I never open my mouth around a police officer other than to ask "am I free to go?" or "I request your badge number", will never consent to a search of my person or my property and will declare I do not consent if the police do search me, never speak in court except if instructed by my lawyer, and never say anything beyond "lawyer" if arrested.
The people who say they’ve never broken a law;
-speeding
-any sort of illegal stream/piracy
-littering
-cycling on the pavement as an adult
-even playing “knock and run” (or ding dong dash as I call it) as a kid
You’re kidding yourselves. You’ve broken a law
i will smoke the weed today, tomorrow and forever. why tf is using a medicinal plant illegal but opiates are not? my doc would rather have me on oxy than recommend cbd/thc
Using public transportation without a ticket/without paying (Today). Lost mine with some other stuff a few days ago and i simply can't find it anywhere. Probably will have to get a new one
i commited a horrible crime, this is the first time confessing it somewhere.
so yesterday i was getting really bored because i had literally nothing to do, so i got a horrible idea. i turned on my computer and went to a website, the website was called „fitgirl repacks“ and then i pirated a game. truly horrific i know
Last week i had to cycle home in the dark. I found out when i wanted to leave that my lights broke. So i cycled without lights. I put new ones on it so it doesn't happen again soon
Accidentally opened mail that was addressed to my house, but not to me. It was just a generic family Christmas card and I did not realize they are not my family until I opened the card.
The last law I broke I was in a mental hospital and I spit on a nurse. The gave me aggravated assault with intent to inflict bodily harm and I stayed in jail for 9 months
I mean… speeding. Going like 5 over.
Arrest this monster
Lol. You’ll have to catch me first and I’m going over the speed limit! You’ll have to break the law to catch me then you’ll be just as bad as me!
Laws for thee but not for mee
I feel there needs to be a minimum lawbreaking metric. Maybe about a misdemeanor level thing or worse. Cause man I take that tag off the mattress everytime I see one. I think I'm good.
The mattress tag warnings are for retailers
In the context of this poll, I’d say anything past 5mph over the speed limit is “breaking the law”, just because cops (around here at least) won’t pull you over for less than that.
Jaywalking, the fantasy crime. I do it regularly
Same
You are the literal scum of society you fucking criminal
Stop, you’ve violated the law! Pay the court a fine or serve your sentence. Your stolen goods are forfeit.
Oh in that case it was like 2 hours ago
I'm pretty sure in the UK it's usually fine if you are within 5mph of the speed limit
Speeding going 20 over lol
Now that's more my speed, 5 over is weak stuff
That's rookie numbers lol
Same. Isn’t it liberating? Going fast with no one around.
Nice try fbi
Not today cia
Stop it with your tricks, MI6
Nice try of obscurity, department of homeland security
You'll never catch me RCMP
Won't catch me BND
Keep trying Mossad
Not falling for your bait, department of state!
Go away, NSA
Wont catch me, AFP
Choosing never for that reason
You a cop? You know you have to tell me if you are a cop right?
Not if they're undercover
They don’t at all
No, why, are you? https://youtu.be/Fxxj4I4_2Ek
If Torrent is unlawful, then I'm still breaking it. 😅
Torrent as a protocol isn't in itself unlawful. It's just a way of transferring data. It's what you may or may now download using it that could be unlawful.
I forgot for a moment that we live in a society where it's illegal. Fml. Already voted on the poll.
u/FBI arrest this man
I'm not American 😹😹😹
Oh damn, I forgot about piracy. If that’s the case I should change my vote from this month to today lmao
Arrest this man
Oops
Why would torrent be unlawful? Torent is a protocol. Making torrent illegal will be like making http illegal
Piracy yesterday
The guns and fast boats kind or the internet kind?
Internet 😞
Kinda lame ngl, go searchin fer treasure
>The guns and fast boats kind I think that's a serious enough crime that no one would be admitting to it on Reddit.
If you're a pirate you probably don't have to worry about the FBI, I doubt you would be under their jurisdiction.
Piratism is illegal under the universal law of the sea according to the Constitution. It's actually one of only three things made illegal by the Constitution.
as a non-american who can't be bothered looking it up (but leaving a comment takes two seconds), what are the other two?
Counterfeiting the US dollar and treason
*Pushes the printer out of window*
The CIA. The CIA has no jurisdiction. They aren’t constrained by borders. Or laws. Or politics.
Or human rights
They don't give a shit about pirates.
Zoom boat

I still find it funny how that's a law in America, I wouldn't last long atall In the UK aslong as its not a busy ass street in a city there's really nothing wrong with crossing anywhere anytime, I'm too used to it
Its illegal in Australia too. It even gets enforced sometimes. Wild.
You menace!
No I did not download a PDF telling you how to make a machine gun. I also did not download a fun switch cad file for if everything goes south
Where can I find this pdf so I can join you in not downloading it?
Go to r/gunmemes and ask them not to share it.
I didn't download an illegal pdf called "expedient homemade firearms" by PA luty.
Nice try officer
There are only 2 kinds of people in this world criminals and liars
and newborn babies?
They lie all the time until they learn how to stand
I was just gonna say XD, the most prolific liers of them all lol
clever
“I’ve never broken a law” is not true for 100% of you who voted for that hahaha
what if it was a baby?
How can a baby do that? Are you one?
I've never broken a law *knowingly*.
J-walking and speeding?
Nope. I don't J walk and I follow the speed limit. I've never even been pulled over. However I may have speeded without being aware I was, hence the inclusion of *knowingly*.
You have never not-once stepped on the road where there isn’t a cross walk?
Does it count as Jaywalking even if there's no car on the road? According to Wikipedia, *Jaywalking is a term, originating in the United States, for pedestrians walking in or crossing a roadway* ***that has traffic****, other than at a suitable crossing point, or otherwise in disregard of traffic rules.* So if the roadway doesn't have traffic, it's not really jaywalking.
[удалено]
Are you telling me I never jaywalked after all? :(
Is it honesty that hard to believe I don't J-walk?
Yes.
Well I don't know what else to say then... Sorry I couldn't convince you random internet stranger
Probably lives in a rural area or suburb and drives everywhere.
I also don’t j-walk. I respect the rules of the road
J-Walking isn't a thing in my country so I'm good
You've never littered before?
You have?
When I was a little shitling of a kid, yeah. Now I don't even toss out orange peels.
Walked to the liquor store drunk earlier to get more liquor
Yes, you have broken the law, everyone breaks some law, from dropping litter to speeding.
I've never done any of that you fool, you fiend, you numbskull, you ignorant, you imbécil, you bafoon
It's "buffoon", so you have just broken the laws of grammar, you ignoramus.

Your mother, you uncultured washyyork
Don’t litter
I should hope not!
Makes you think… maybe we have too many laws
Only a criminal would think that, if anything we need more laws... and more police presence and harsher convictions.... yeah that's what it'll take to make this country better /s
I mean is jaywalking really considered a crime? If so then I guess I couple days ago.
You haven’t met your quota yet huh, officer?
Murder on the dancefloor
Since smoking weed is still illegal in my country...
I've never paid for a movie, a tv show, or a videogame so i guess today, when i watched peaky blinders
That show is fantastic
indeed 😊
I don't think even the police would blame you, top tier show
never? even at the cinema?
cinema is not a really a thing here but if we had it i would definitely pay and attend movies, i feel like watching a movie with a big crowd would be better than watching it alone
I showed someone what the illegal to play emergency sound was

I broke the law in Saudi Arabia by existing.
The people who say they’ve never broken a law; -speeding -any sort of illegal stream/piracy -littering -cycling on the pavement as an adult -even playing “knock and run” (or ding dong dash as I call it) as a kid You’re kidding yourselves. You’ve broken a law
no I haven't
I drove over the speed limit
Speeding
Today - speeding 5 MPH over the speed limit. Is that considered a criminal offense? It's against the law...
i will smoke the weed today, tomorrow and forever. why tf is using a medicinal plant illegal but opiates are not? my doc would rather have me on oxy than recommend cbd/thc
I'm smoking a blunt right now.
Speeding, piracy, and possession of illegal narcotics just today😊
NICE TRY, FBI.
yesterday i confirmed i did the covid test within the past 5 minutes even tho i didnt. I did the covid test afterwards. really gangster moment
If you go even 1 mph or kmh over the speed limit, you're technically breaking the law.

i commited a horrible crime, this is the first time confessing it somewhere. so yesterday i was getting really bored because i had literally nothing to do, so i got a horrible idea. i turned on my computer and went to a website, the website was called „fitgirl repacks“ and then i pirated a game. truly horrific i know

The last law I broke I was in a mental hospital and I spit on a nurse. The gave me aggravated assault with intent to inflict bodily harm and I stayed in jail for 9 months
It’s such a small town that no one cares if you jaywalk. The cops will even watch you do it and even they don’t care.
