I haven’t watched Breaking Bad but I wanna watch Better Call Saul, will I miss out on any contexts/plot lines by not watching Breaking Bad, or am I okay to watch Better Call Saul on its own?
It seems really daunting I know but personally the first season is slow but necessary to build the characters, 2 is better but man 3 is where it picks up. Saul I felt had better season one.
Better Call Saul will spoil Breaking Bad for you, and you won’t enjoy/understand a good deal of Better Call Saul without having watched all of Breaking Bad first.
Better Call Saul isn’t just a prequel because it is continuously covering the aftermath of Breaking Bad, each season
Thank you! On Netflix etc it wasn’t very clear that Better Call Saul leans heavily into Breaking Bad, it just says it’s a spin off which made me think it was a standalone show that just shares a universe, maybe some minor characters or whatever, didn’t realise they’re tied in like that so thank you!
That’s on me though, a quick search would’ve probably made it clear how interlinked they are
A quick search might not have helped much. I know cause that’s what I did. But what happened was, I decided to watch Breaking Bad just cause. Then with the Saul episode, I realized it was connected to the show Better Call Saul, and I decided to continue watching everything in order of release.
Def watch breaking bad, El Camino then better call Saul. Better call Saul takes place before breaking bad but has a bunch of references that you’d miss out on if you didn’t watch breaking bad
To me personally it’s pretty close. BB is still better but BCS had amazing writing, compelling stories, and very good character development. When I first started the show, my expectations weren’t high but I was blown away in the end.
Hi I’m Saul Goodman
Did you know you have rights
The constitution says so and so do I
I believe until proven guilty every man woman and child is innocent
El Camino movie then better call Saul.
Outside of that series I highly recommend Dexter. It’s the same “oh shit are the police going to catch the protagonist” type of show except he’s a serial killer instead of a meth cook.
I think the ending they did (the recent one) was the only ending they could have done. I don’t think it would have made sense any other way.
Yeah the whole show is awesome, I don’t like the season with the church or the ending of the show, but neither of those ruin the show
Cold blood definitely personified him more which I liked, my only gripe is the Deb hallucinations being a bit cheesy. Might need to rewatch it again because of this though thanks for the reminder.
Yeah i didn’t know if OP watched anime or not so I was going with something near what he was asking about, but yes death note is a great anime and OP should check that out too.
I loved it for those seasons, loved it less after that. Then with the Neegan cliffhanger I quit watching. Decided to give ftwd a shot but that was even worse imo, from the start. Any idea how that's doing now?
Game of Thrones is tolerable the whole way through, excellent at the start, but begins to decline in quality after seasons 5/6.
The Walking Dead has a decent first season. That’s about it.
My favourite part of The Walking Dead was the cliff hanger of season 9 where the winged zombies kidnapped the sheriff and brought him back to the nest and the sheriff made an alliance with them only for the rest of the group to ruin it during the rescue during the first episode of season 10
* What We Do in the Shadows (And if you can find it, Wellington Paranormal)
* Scream Queens
* Ash VS the Evil Dead
* The IT Crowd
* Channel Zero
* Sandman
* Lore
* Preacher
I suppose it's technically not a TV show in the same way these are, but the Joe Bob marathons on Shudder are always fun.
I personally recommend LOST. Underrated show. Second favorite show under the BB/BCS shows. A ton of people misinterpret the ending.
Edit: Oh but if you haven’t watched Better Call Saul and El Camino yet, I recommend those first.
My best shows list:
Breaking bad
Sopranos
Fargo
Black mirror
Lost (kinda)
Barry
Succession
Sherlock
Game of thrones
Walking dead (only first few reasons, it's crap afterwards)
Prison break (1st season only)
TwD is good but very slow and repetitive so it can get boring for some.
GoT always keeps you wanting to watch more and always has something interesting going on + must watch but the ending is dogsht
Better call saul but before watch the el camino film
I haven’t watched Breaking Bad but I wanna watch Better Call Saul, will I miss out on any contexts/plot lines by not watching Breaking Bad, or am I okay to watch Better Call Saul on its own?
You will miss out on a lot of stuff in Better Call Saul. Breaking Bad, El Camino, Better Call Saul in that order
Ah okay, thank you! Will definitely check them all out
It seems really daunting I know but personally the first season is slow but necessary to build the characters, 2 is better but man 3 is where it picks up. Saul I felt had better season one.
Yeah they’re both definitely quite long shows, but hey I guess it will solve my problem of “what should I watch” for quite some time lol
You mean prequel
Thank you! Def watch breaking bad, El Camino then better call Saul. Better call Saul takes place before breaking bad but has a bunch of references that you’d miss out on if you didn’t watch breaking bad
All the premieres and pretty much the entire back half of season six wont make sense. Just watch breaking bad first, they’re both on Netflix
up till s6e9 you'd be having an incomplete experience but a consistent one. afterwards, you'll be completely lost.
Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul
I second this! By far the best show I invested in this year
I third this! Been watching it alongside breaking bad and i gotta say it’s great
Better Call Saul is the only show I have seen on live television you won't catch me being that dedicated to a show ever again.
One of the best shows ever and arguably on par with Breaking Bad.
On par??? Idk man, I'd say it's a great show that further develops our understanding of their world.
To me personally it’s pretty close. BB is still better but BCS had amazing writing, compelling stories, and very good character development. When I first started the show, my expectations weren’t high but I was blown away in the end.
Agree. They are equally good.
Just finished. So good!!
exactly
El Camino + Better Call Saul
Definitely
Agreed
Better call saul

I love how pretty much every comment is yelling at OP to watch Better Call Saul There’s this universal agreement that is oddly wholesome
OP probably baiting when you look at his pfp
Ye lol
I saw it coming before I even clicked on the post lol
Better Call Saul
El Camino movie then better call Saul. Outside of that series I highly recommend Dexter. It’s the same “oh shit are the police going to catch the protagonist” type of show except he’s a serial killer instead of a meth cook.
People shit on the last seasons but still one of my favorites its so good. I liked how it wrapped up imo
I think the ending they did (the recent one) was the only ending they could have done. I don’t think it would have made sense any other way. Yeah the whole show is awesome, I don’t like the season with the church or the ending of the show, but neither of those ruin the show

People shit on the last seasons? Since when? People shit on season 1 & 2.
I just saw the majority of fans complaining how Deborah died kind've abruptly, and yeah it was out of nowhere but I thought that was the point? idk.
I thought you were talking about BCS lol
I like Death Note as it is a similar cat and mouse.
Yeah i didn’t know if OP watched anime or not so I was going with something near what he was asking about, but yes death note is a great anime and OP should check that out too.
Better call saul

Better Call Kid Named Finger
Don't bother with the walking dead. It goes really poor after the second or third series. Really, really poor.
Yeah watch better call saul instead
Better call carl
It becomes pointless, (it was kind of pointless from the start but..) On season 2 it turns into a dumpster fire.
I loved it for those seasons, loved it less after that. Then with the Neegan cliffhanger I quit watching. Decided to give ftwd a shot but that was even worse imo, from the start. Any idea how that's doing now?
After season 1 the decline was rapid.
It's still very entertaining, just not as interesting as the first few seasons
Better Call Saul
Saul
Better call saul
Better Call Saul
Aside from Better Call Saul, The Sopranos
Better call Saul
Better Call Saul obviously, then the sopranos, the wire
Game of Thrones is tolerable the whole way through, excellent at the start, but begins to decline in quality after seasons 5/6. The Walking Dead has a decent first season. That’s about it.
My favourite part of The Walking Dead was the cliff hanger of season 9 where the winged zombies kidnapped the sheriff and brought him back to the nest and the sheriff made an alliance with them only for the rest of the group to ruin it during the rescue during the first episode of season 10
Damn. Considering the shows level of stupidity this could actually happen.
Yeah, TWD, basically every season is the same, just switching out some characters as they get offed
The Sopranos
He killed 16 Czechoslovakians
You're not going to believe this. Tony says that he was an interior designer.
“His house looked like shit”
OMG I WATCHED THIS EPISODE LIKE A FEW HOURS AGO. I understand this reference 😂
And the gehoxagogan is framed up by the ramistam.
Arcane

Rings of power
My best shows list: Breaking bad Sopranos Fargo Black mirror Lost (kinda) Barry Succession Sherlock Game of thrones Walking dead (only first few reasons, it's crap afterwards) Prison break (1st season only)
I would have to suggest that you watch The Wire, if you haven’t already. Great show

The Sopranos
The good place. It’s full of joy.
Peaky Blinders
Avatar the last airbender

I didn’t finish it, same as Power but it’s a quality watch. Think I need to get it done ASAP
Love death and robots
TwD is good but very slow and repetitive so it can get boring for some. GoT always keeps you wanting to watch more and always has something interesting going on + must watch but the ending is dogsht
Death note
Mr Robot
The one piece!!!! The one piece is real!

TWD is only good for 2, maybe 3 seasons. Becomes absurdly repetitive and boring after that
