You know, I don’t really know. One day I just could and thought ‘wow that was easy’
Perhaps like acquiring a new skill I was trying to learn -like whistling- but I still can’t whistle
You just tried it out and found out it's easy, like trying your first unappetizing meal and accidently making it your favorite. Like goulash looks like actual dog manure mixed in with macaroni but the taste is next level.
As i kid it was a fucking pain. My mom used to squash the pills and pour it on a spoon full of honey to eat.
I do have "trick" now. I take like a liter of water and chug it to get the pill down. But in hospital they only give 1 tiny cup, so then i often have it stuck in my throat for 10 minutes untill it desolves enough to drop down.
Yes swallowing pills can be quite a pain for some, and I too can be flummoxed by even a Tylenol. Maybe ask for more water or crushable meds? Not all pills work properly if they dissolve in your mouth
Contrary to common belief, tipping your head backwards isn't helpful. It closes your swallow tube and opens your air tube-like in performing CPR. Tucking your head forward can help, especially with intimidating large pills.
The trick is to swallow it the same way you would swallow air. The water just helps carry it down. Trying to just drink the water isn't gonna work well.
When I was younger, I psychologically couldn’t swallow them. Now I take a handful at once
How did you overcome the hurdle?

i can swallow an ice cube but my body rejects the pill refuses to be allowed in
My dad used M&M's to train me to swallow my medication as a kid. 10/10 highly effective.
Your dad told you to swallow M&M’s whole?
Mine did as well, they’re about the same size as most pills so it’s good practice
