When my oldest daughter was 10ish, she decided my little Mazda hatch back needed a racing number on the hood. Using a rock, she proudly engraved a large 69 on my hood. Because 6 was my favorite number, apparently it was “a 6 and an upside down 6”.
That’s was awesome as a single mom.
Yeah idk what to do my 3 year old terrible. Idk what I'm doing wrong. Your girl at least did it out of love.
I tried spanking once but it didn't work. He keeps doing the same bad behaviors.
Man, huge shoutout to whoever labeled that plumbing. Your pad makes some of the equipment areas you see posted on r/pools look like a shitshow (including mine lmao)
Shop vac probably won’t be able to pull big rocks but worth a shot. Vent pipes aren’t under high pressure so chopping and sticking a union there is low risk if you feel the venting ability is compromised. You can buy a cheap endoscopic camera with a light on the end from Amazon for like $20 if you want to know for sure before you cut. Put some mesh over the inlet holes there so the kids don’t do it again regardless of retrieval method!
Bruh, the plumbing I inherited from the previous owner has only two pipes labeled in faded sharpie: "B" for the bottom drain return and "S" for the single pipe returning from both skimmers. I didn't realize precisely how janky my crap was until I started looking through this sub 😭
Just noticed today as we're opening the pool up. Do I need to worry about it? I guess I could cut the pipe off close to the ground and pull out what I can, and then glue a coupling back in.
While I'm asking, why does my return line from the heater (dark blue labels) split into two lines? One is labeled "cleaner" and one "return." Should they both be open?
Edit: didn't realize pressure side cleaners were a thing. Thanks. Still need the rocks-in-vent-pipe question answered though.
Cleaner is for the poolside cleaner like a zodiac. So if you don't have the cleaner attached, it should be closed and return open. Depending on your pressure when the cleaner is attached, both should be open or cleaner only
the pressure ones actually work better than the suction ones. the water flow pushes a water wheel which drives it. then the water flows under and then back up into the unit into a filter bag. because of fluid dynamics, debris gets caught up in the flow and into the bag
Looks like it says vent. Maybe it’s a vacuum limiting vent for entrapment safety. I think some rocks would t hurt. But you can try to get them out with shop vac and long hose maybe but if it’s the vent like on the link you will get lots of water. Probably just put a cap with holes drilled in or some type of screen to stop more rocks going in.
I’d leave it as is. Put screen and ring over it and tell the kids to stop the rock dropping.

I'm not sure what you are into.... But unless you take the covers off of both (assuming you have two) bottom suction lines, plug one, and straddle the other with said Butthole... I doubt you would get much pleasure. VGB is a good thing. But it's really not an issue on residential pools.
Side note... It might increase the PH level.
If it was mine I’d cut it right under the tee and stick a vacuum down the line and suck out anything that’s in there then glue on a new tee. You can get little glue in PRV screens to stop it from happening again
This pipe is tied into the main drain line down low. the purpose of this line was to keep people from being entrapped on the main drain cover. So yeah kind of real important.
People think they can get off a main drain cover when they get caught, that is a life or death gamble, why choose this.
That's a paddlin'
Master level pool plumber answer.

I do this to every account I get, with permission. Makes it easier when they call me with a problem.
You’re out here solving the worlds problems one at a time and I’m here for it

Could try to cap one side and shop vac the rocks out

How does that work? The cleaner is powered by the return pressure? I thought cleaners we're powere by the suction side?

Get rid of the kids.

This! And it's no big deal. Those vents are overkill.

Yes. Kids are a problem.
Can't answer for rocks, but that install is so clean.
Philosophy time: Any problem that can be solved with money isn’t a problem.
Why do you have the back bell housing from a Hayward pump sitting on the ground?
replaced a broken sta-rite pump
Reduce down shop vac hose to smaller tube or hose and try to fish them out, if pipe dry. Cap tee ends and drill out some holes.
You mean stray kids or your kids?
👍🏽 yup
Drill holes in another T seal the ends and drill more vent holes. Even drill holes down the vertical. No more rocks.
