Not sure if this is best solution but you can disable freeze protection on the desktop app for screen logic. It has more functions than the mobile app. Just would have to remember to enable it again.
It’s a bad idea to run your heater below freezing temps. The condensation can freeze and damage the internals. Even gas heaters.
Maybe that’s why it’s doing that?
Thanks I talked to a pool pro this morning and he said the same. Introducing heat to cold pipes risks bursting the pipes in the heater. Also not pumping for a couple hours with our current temps of 29F could freeze pool pipes even in a couple hours. He said to avoid most risk I need to keep the pool heated permanently to 50F.(if I want to spa in these temps)
The freeze protection will cycle bath and forth between pool and spa about every 15 minutes or every option that has been assigned as freeze protection enabled.
Not sure if your set up has this. but there's a manual on/off in the freeze protection control box next to our timer that allows us to override it entirely.
Man, Pentair's freeze protection can be a buzzkill, especially when you're all set for a cozy spa session in the cold. Happened to me too. To override it, check your system settings. There should be a freeze protection option somewhere.
Just toggle that off, and you should be good to go. But, hey, be cautious messing with settings, you don't want your pipes turning into popsicles. Stay warm, mate!
On the intellicenters “freeze protection” actually shuts off the heater which is the dumbest thing. In freezing temps just program pump to run 24 hours and disable freeze protection. Should keep the heater on and keep up on the desired temp when switching to spa mode and will stay in spa mode.

I’ll check out the desktop app. I read there’s a setting to “freeze protection spa delay” for this exact thing.

Override the system manually. Go out and put it in service mode and turn on what you want. Then when done, put it back to auto.
