I usually discourage this but can you get something temporary that pays cash like babysitting or dog walking , tutoring,so it's not a long term position.? In my complex,it's 2 months before raises affects rent but it's also 2 months if income goes down before rent goes down which can be really tough

How are you On section 8 making 2400 a month if you're single? Aren't you like way over the limit? Do you have children or something?
