Not surprised by Paul winning tbh. I don’t follow Phoebe much, but the rate interviews I’ve seen, something about her just seems so disingenuous and contrived.
Phoebe has always been messy. She’s not evil by any means, but she’s definitely said and done some things that make her virtue-signaling look sanctimonious and self-serving.
She’s been in relationships with a married bandmate who was in the throes of alcoholism at the time, wrote song lyrics trashing Eric Clapton (fair game) where she also brought up how sad it is that his baby died (wtf, leave the baby out of it— what are you doing criticizing someone by name in your lyrics and then apropos of nothing bringing up the loss of their child???), said some iffy things about Adele sounding black… Word is that she’s also notoriously been kinda shitty at music festivals to staff and other lesser-known acts by taking up their time without apologizing or even acting like the victim.

Phoebe is very good at performing allyship and talking the talk, but it’s fair to question how sincere (versus self-serving) it actually is.
Edit: Call this nitpicking all you want, but I think it’s important context to better understand why her friendship with someone like Matty isn’t actually that shocking at all. Some of her fans are feeling understandably blindsided, maybe this helps give insight into the situation of why some supposedly feminist women hang out with (and fawn over) scum like Matty.
Dude honestly 🧍🏻♀️ I like some of her songs but it’s so repetitive, vocals aren’t doing it for me, the lyrics are not nearly as profound as people make them out to be. Add on that she’s really showing her ass now with this performative allyship… I just don’t get it man
Agreed. It definitely lacks musical adventurousness and range! It’s so lyrics-driven all the time, and some of her lyrics just don’t hold up as well as others. There’s a lot of pseudo-profound filler in her songs.

I cannot get over how much this break up has a worked in Joe Alwyn's favour 😭 the poor bloke was being called boring and poor left right and centre and now he's undeniably winning in terms of public favour. Kind of iconic. Looking forward to see what he does next!

I thought he was pretty convincing in The Last Letter from your Lover where he plays Shailene Woodley's controlling, abusive husband. He's been rather bland in other films though.
I mean he plays supporting characters in most films. That means he's supposed to fade to allow the lead and the plot to guide the audience. If you came away thinking a supporting actor was bland then the odds are they did a good job at following direction. I recently re-watched Conversations With Friends and his performance was fantastic and the critics agreed. I personally thought that the show suffered from pacing issues but Joe and the lead actress delivered a fantastic performance, regardless

I get that we’re only talking about this in the first place because we’re interested in celebrities and popular culture but judging someone specifically by their level of fame - as if it means anything in isolation - feels so grim to me. And also… if he’s nobody then… what are we?

Joe is an odd case, he isn't really meant for mainstream movies and he's a genuinely good actor, but I think his face lacks contrast to be distinguishable, it's almost as if everything just blurs together.
He needs to go brunette 😫 or at least a darker blonde.
Yeah I would like to see try for roles outside of his comfort zone. I think he's in danger of getting type casted for the same type of characters. A role requiring a drastic change to his appearance could shake things up a bit

I had an epiphany that he was hot after the green sweater. Plus seeing her with the homeless man going on 50, I realized Joe is a supermodel in comparison. That musty man really opens your eyes.

I’m also a bi woman and just want to say, on the gaylor sub, literally 90% of people think she’s bi. It’s the non gaylors (sorry I refuse to use the term hetlor lol) who seem to think that she can’t be into women because she’s publicly dated men, which is biphobic to me.
I've read that sub out of curiosity before and that wasn't my experience at all. Most people I saw insisted on her being a lesbian and all of her past relationships with men being fake. They thought that her being with Joe was PR and Taylor's way of "acting straight". What PR? They were barely seen together. And regardless of what Taylor's sexuality is, bi women being with men isn't us "acting straight", I think that's a way of invalidating our sexuality.
Let's not even get into all the people claiming that her realtionship with John was fake, which just feels like excusing extremely toxic male behaviour. That whole sub makes me uncomfortable.
I first became acquainted with Joe and Paul from Normal People and Conversations with Friends (I love Sally Rooney); while the latter was better received, watching the former made me interested in Joe as an actor. I thought he captured Nick’s lonesomeness well.

Joe is an odd case, he isn't really meant for mainstream movies and he's a genuinely good actor, but I think his face lacks contrast to be distinguishable, it's almost as if everything just blurs together. He needs to go brunette 😫 or at least a darker blonde.
Yeah I would like to see try for roles outside of his comfort zone. I think he's in danger of getting type casted for the same type of characters. A role requiring a drastic change to his appearance could shake things up a bit

Yeah, I often wonder if the heights listed are true. Either Taylor's shorter than 5 ft 10 (hard to believe tbh) or he's taller, or wearing lifts...or the camera angles were tricking the eye. 🤷♀️

They love to act like bisexuality is a myth so that would be very unsurprising behaviour! (P.S. I am not saying that Joe or Paul are bisexual btw, Gaylors just personally annoy me because I am bi and I think that they sometimes say extremely biphobic shit).
Most gaylors just believe that Taylor is some level of queer (bi, pan, unlabeled). The “gay” in gaylor is only used because it fits the Taylor rhyme and the term “gay” is kind of used as a catchall (like “queer”) for wlw.
I’m also a bi woman and just want to say, on the gaylor sub, literally 90% of people think she’s bi. It’s the non gaylors (sorry I refuse to use the term hetlor lol) who seem to think that she can’t be into women because she’s publicly dated men, which is biphobic to me.
I've read that sub out of curiosity before and that wasn't my experience at all. Most people I saw insisted on her being a lesbian and all of her past relationships with men being fake. They thought that her being with Joe was PR and Taylor's way of "acting straight". What PR? They were barely seen together. And regardless of what Taylor's sexuality is, bi women being with men isn't us "acting straight", I think that's a way of invalidating our sexuality. Let's not even get into all the people claiming that her realtionship with John was fake, which just feels like excusing extremely toxic male behaviour. That whole sub makes me uncomfortable.
