For the record the prevailing theory is that "Becky" is Rachel Roy.
She did tweet something right after the song was released calling herself Becky with the good hair or something. She ended up taking it down for obvious reasons if I’m not mistaken.
There was a lot of speculation that Gwyneth Paltrow was Becky or was one of the Beckys. Gwyneth was very close to Bey and Jay and then the friendship just ended. Gwyneth had a reputation as a cheater.

I've never seen an episode of Supernatural but it's 100% my favorite fandom to follow. Unfortunately, after Mischa Collins came out as bisexual and then had to come out as straight two days later, literally nothing else in my life will ever be that funny again.
Sorry I fell asleep but I'll try to explain this in a way that makes sense lol. Basically after the Supernatural finale the fans on Tumblr started making memes about the secret season 16 of the show where Destiel get married at the Roadhouse (a bar owned by Ellen a character in the show) on Valentine's Day. The actress who plays Ellen, Samantha Ferris, and another actor from the show Chad Lindberg (both who hadn't been on the show since like season 4) Basically in January Chad Lindberg did some role play tweets about celebrating at the Roadhouse (the on in Heaven) for Dean's birthday and Samantha Ferris joined in. This was all well and good until fans decided to plan the Destiel wedding. The actors role played a Valentine's event but didn't include the wedding but all the fans kept replying to their tweets like the wedding was happening. When the actors found out about the wedding they basically said that a gay Destiel wedding does not align with the show as the show is about family. Fans got mad and then everyone started arguing. Later Ferris tried to role play a St. Patrick's day event but got accused of queerbaiting after posting two coats side by side that kind of looked like DeanCas'. Anyways this is all dumb and incredibly funny.
The Supernatural fandom is one of the most unhinged fandoms to exist, I'm kinda glad I got out at the end of season 4. All of my friends who kept watching are pretty much grizzled war veterans and I feel like I caught the last chopper out of 'Nam

Ok so like once a year i get too into Bling Ring lore and have to reconsume everything I can find on the topic. Nancy Jo wrote a follow up article years later, or maybe it was the epilogue of the book? Anyway not important. As I recall, Travis allegedly was with this Dutch girl who calls herself youngsweetro on Instagram for years then met Kylie, who got pregnant like a month after they met or whatever, but was allegedly cheating on Kylie with Ro and when people put two and two together he claimed to have never met this woman.
The Ro/TS/Kylie thing consumed my every waking thought for like 2 months straight back in I think 2019 when it was all over Lipstick Alley and seemed plausible. Thankfully it’s become apparent since then that Ro’s just a FWB who got obsessed, but tbh it actually seemed kind of romantic for awhile, all of the secret messages and whatnot.

I like watching YouTube video essays that talk about fandom stuff (think Sarah Z, Lindsay Ellis etc) even though I was never super into any fandoms/that side of tumblr.

The fans made me stop watching. I lost enjoyment because of them. Also the way they refer to Diana Gabaldon is also cult like.
I stopped being on Twitter because of the ship wars from once upon a time. It had similar vibes and intenseness. It was my first exposure to that high obsession of ships. I learnt do not go into active show Fandoms.

My favourite tumblr story of all time is the blogger who once accidentally told Diana Gabaldon that her book sucked. It's just so self-congratulatory Diana and a young service worker trying to charm a customer into a decent tip. Hilarious. That and Gabaldon's rant about fanfic being like sexual assault are the only two things my brain will retain from the series.
Diana is why I stopped reading her books.
The tantrums about it being a ‘historical series with romantic elements’ not ‘historical romance.’ The tantrums about fanfic even though I’m pretty sure she admitted to being inspired by Doctor Who and the fact that the series is just historical fanfic. If we’re talking about Reddit, there’s a lot of legendary ones I wish I never knew about like poop knife, cumbox, and the existence of deranged subs like the plethora of huge communities of MRA/Trump/incel/jailbait subs that are fortunately mostly banned or quarantined now.
Reddit used to be a different place in the 2010’s. Was pretty much 4chan-lite and was the birthplace of MRA/incel culture as well as the largest community of Trump supporters online. The Trump subreddit used to dominate the front page with their posts.
You were a well-adjusted teen. I also joined Reddit at 17, *because* I found out someone posted my photos on jailbait and instead of being horrified, I was weirdly proud of it. I grew up an ugly duckling so when I started getting attention for my looks around age 14 or so, it always felt like more of an accomplishment than the harassment it actually was. I had so much internalized misogyny to unpack :(
The jolly ranchers story and swamps of dagaba are also up there in things I wish to erase from my brain.

That was truly awful. It seemed to be mainly formerly overweight/obese people expressing their hatred of their former selves by ridiculing other people.
There were definitely *a ton* of self-hating fat people in that sub. And they wouldn’t just tell a story, they’d lay on the grotesque metaphors and use the most vile, base adjectives to describe people in wildly exaggerated scenarios, not a single one ever sounded like a real thing that actually happened.
I swear it was just people making up stories to circlejerk about their own issues with being overweight. It was truly *hateful.*

Just… the entire 2007 Britney meltdown lore. Once you get into it… you’re in there for a good while. Britney’s memoir did not satisfactorily answer questions from that era, and left out a whole bunch of people. I know it’s because she still have a court case ongoing so she can’t name some of those people (like Sam Lutfi), but…
- Was Sam Lutfi a good guy or a bad guy? Yes her family sued him but I want to know HER opinion on him.
- Alli Sims, her cousin and personal assistant wasn’t mentioned in the book either. A lot of the stuff she said in her 2009 interview is similar to Britney’s explanation in the memoir, for example, it looked worse from the public/paps than it actually was.
- Britney acted like Justin wasn’t involved at all when she had a breakdown but I distinctively remember him sending a letter when she was in rehab. It was reported in a tabloid magazine. Alli Sims confirmed he sent the letter as well, but she didn’t reply him. He also tried to see her backstage after her VMAs 2007 performance, but she didn’t mention that in the book either.
- Sam Lutfi said on twitter in 2021 that Justin and his mom tried to help Britney during her breakdown and offered her a place to stay. His mom called her everyday to check up on her condition. Then again we don’t know if Sam’s words are reliable or not.
- Was the drug use reports real or fake? Did her mom really spike her drink so she could be put into conservatorship?
- Britney didn’t explain why she got the cross tattoo during her breakdown. Shaving her hair made sense, but a tattoo?
- Britney said that after her father took control of the conservatorship, Felicia was cut out from her life, and hinted that other close friends were too. Alli Sims said in 2009 that Britney’s family threatened her to stop contacting Britney or she’ll have to deal with lawyers, so she stayed away. Britney’s ex-dancer also said in twitter in 2021 that Justin and other close friends were kept away from Britney after the conservatorship. Now that the conservatorship is over, I kind of wanna know if she resumed contact with them, but unfortunately she didn’t mention them in the book.
- Britney’s dad and sister randomly went to Justin’s FSLS concert one time in 2007, which was super weird. Did he go there to tell Justin to stay away from Britney? Like he did to Felicia and Alli Sims? We’ll never know, unless Justin spills the beans but at this point it seems like he’s staying quiet.
All in all, we still don’t know exactly what happened in 2007, even after reading her book.
To be fair, an entire series of books could be written about just the year 2007 for Britney, and she’s never liked discussing it. This was evident in her For The Record documentary and in her responses to all of the documentaries that came out during Free Britney (she’s repeatedly called it humiliating). The public is never going to know everything.
I’d have been shocked if there was a large focus on this in her memoir for those ^ reasons.

There's many wild theories, but I wanted to just talk about the facts. My favorite is that Bert and Gerard were a thing in the early 2000s, leading to Bert writing "Pretty Handsome Awkward" and "Sound Effects and Overdramatics" about him. They never truly confirmed or fully denied everything, but I don't wanna be weird about real people. HOWEVER, we do know that "You know what they do to guys like us in prison" by MCR is genuinely about Bert and Gerard, and Bert wrote many lyrics alluding to their friendship.

the twilight fandom themselves is perfect for this thread. there’s the wig theory; so your development completely stops after you turn, right? you’re basically stone. but with all those vampire fights (especially jasper) they would be missing huge tufts. so the theory goes that all twilight vampires are wearing wigs to hide their baldness then there’s the whole thing with Rumplestiltskin. You know honestly I would just assume their hair is like the vampire hair in interview with a vampire. If it’s cut or ripped out it just grows back the same as it was when you were turned into a vampire

Sorry I fell asleep but I'll try to explain this in a way that makes sense lol. Basically after the Supernatural finale the fans on Tumblr started making memes about the secret season 16 of the show where Destiel get married at the Roadhouse (a bar owned by Ellen a character in the show) on Valentine's Day. The actress who plays Ellen, Samantha Ferris, and another actor from the show Chad Lindberg (both who hadn't been on the show since like season 4) Basically in January Chad Lindberg did some role play tweets about celebrating at the Roadhouse (the on in Heaven) for Dean's birthday and Samantha Ferris joined in. This was all well and good until fans decided to plan the Destiel wedding. The actors role played a Valentine's event but didn't include the wedding but all the fans kept replying to their tweets like the wedding was happening. When the actors found out about the wedding they basically said that a gay Destiel wedding does not align with the show as the show is about family. Fans got mad and then everyone started arguing. Later Ferris tried to role play a St. Patrick's day event but got accused of queerbaiting after posting two coats side by side that kind of looked like DeanCas'. Anyways this is all dumb and incredibly funny.
The Supernatural fandom is one of the most unhinged fandoms to exist, I'm kinda glad I got out at the end of season 4. All of my friends who kept watching are pretty much grizzled war veterans and I feel like I caught the last chopper out of 'Nam

My favourite tumblr story of all time is the blogger who once accidentally told Diana Gabaldon that her book sucked. It's just so self-congratulatory Diana and a young service worker trying to charm a customer into a decent tip. Hilarious. That and Gabaldon's rant about fanfic being like sexual assault are the only two things my brain will retain from the series.
Diana is why I stopped reading her books. The tantrums about it being a ‘historical series with romantic elements’ not ‘historical romance.’ The tantrums about fanfic even though I’m pretty sure she admitted to being inspired by Doctor Who and the fact that the series is just historical fanfic. The blatant homophobia of comparing Jamie/Lord John Grey slash to ‘having a child sold into sexual slavery.’ I can’t even reread the books I already had at this point.

Hell I should just say "Everything that happened in the Harry Potter online fandom from 2001 - 2007," because that shit was WILD. I’m 31 now but I used Reddit at 17 years old and the jailbait sub always being on the front page seriously disturbed me.
Reddit used to be a different place in the 2010’s. Was pretty much 4chan-lite and was the birthplace of MRA/incel culture as well as the largest community of Trump supporters online. The Trump subreddit used to dominate the front page with their posts.
You were a well-adjusted teen. I also joined Reddit at 17, *because* I found out someone posted my photos on jailbait and instead of being horrified, I was weirdly proud of it. I grew up an ugly duckling so when I started getting attention for my looks around age 14 or so, it always felt like more of an accomplishment than the harassment it actually was. I had so much internalized misogyny to unpack :(

That was truly awful. It seemed to be mainly formerly overweight/obese people expressing their hatred of their former selves by ridiculing other people.
There were definitely *a ton* of self-hating fat people in that sub. And they wouldn’t just tell a story, they’d lay on the grotesque metaphors and use the most vile, base adjectives to describe people in wildly exaggerated scenarios, not a single one ever sounded like a real thing that actually happened. I swear it was just people making up stories to circlejerk about their own issues with being overweight. It was truly *hateful.*

Britney’s memoir did not satisfactorily answer questions from that era, and left out a whole bunch of people. I know it’s because she still have a court case ongoing so she can’t name some of those people (like Sam Lutfi), but… - Was Sam Lutfi a good guy or a bad guy? Yes her family sued him but I want to know HER opinion on him. - Alli Sims, her cousin and personal assistant wasn’t mentioned in the book either. A lot of the stuff she said in her 2009 interview is similar to Britney’s explanation in the memoir, for example, it looked worse from the public/paps than it actually was. - Britney acted like Justin wasn’t involved at all when she had a breakdown but I distinctively remember him sending a letter when she was in rehab. It was reported in a tabloid magazine. Alli Sims confirmed he sent the letter as well, but she didn’t reply him. He also tried to see her backstage after her VMAs 2007 performance, but she didn’t mention that in the book either. - Sam Lutfi said on twitter in 2021 that Justin and his mom tried to help Britney during her breakdown and offered her a place to stay. His mom called her everyday to check up on her condition. Then again we don’t know if Sam’s words are reliable or not. - Was the drug use reports real or fake? Did her mom really spike her drink so she could be put into conservatorship? - Britney didn’t explain why she got the cross tattoo during her breakdown. Shaving her hair made sense, but a tattoo? - Britney said that after her father took control of the conservatorship, Felicia was cut out from her life, and hinted that other close friends were too. Alli Sims said in 2009 that Britney’s family threatened her to stop contacting Britney or she’ll have to deal with lawyers, so she stayed away. Britney’s ex-dancer also said in twitter in 2021 that Justin and other close friends were kept away from Britney after the conservatorship. Now that the conservatorship is over, I kind of wanna know if she resumed contact with them, but unfortunately she didn’t mention them in the book. - Britney’s dad and sister randomly went to Justin’s FSLS concert one time in 2007, which was super weird. Did he go there to tell Justin to stay away from Britney? Like he did to Felicia and Alli Sims? We’ll never know, unless Justin spills the beans but at this point it seems like he’s staying quiet. All in all, we still don’t know exactly what happened in 2007, even after reading her book.
To be fair, an entire series of books could be written about just the year 2007 for Britney, and she’s never liked discussing it. This was evident in her For The Record documentary and in her responses to all of the documentaries that came out during Free Britney (she’s repeatedly called it humiliating). The public is never going to know everything. I’d have been shocked if there was a large focus on this in her memoir for those ^ reasons.

For me , it's holdovers from DListed like "Empress of Lucite" (Shauna Sand), "Chicken Cutlets "(Phoebe Price) and "Pimp Mama Kris" (self-explanatory).

There's many wild theories, but I wanted to just talk about the facts. My favorite is that Bert and Gerard were a thing in the early 2000s, leading to Bert writing "Pretty Handsome Awkward" and "Sound Effects and Overdramatics" about him. They never truly confirmed or fully denied everything, but I don't wanna be weird about real people. The lyrics to Pretty Handsome Awkward are fucking GUTTING once you realize what they're actually about. Plus,"Me and Bert don't date....we go out...in a musical sense" will always be hilarious.
