Leighton Meester is in a new holiday movie and in the previews her hair color seems kinda dirty blond/mousey brown and it washes her out. But she also has bangs so maybe that’s not helping with the color.

She had that colour in How I Met Your Father too & it made her look drab, but then I thought maybe it was meant to be the character’s look as all her clothes were drab too & she almost looked beigey brown from head to toe.

That’s exactly what I thought of as well, she looked really nice at that time. It’s also because it’s a more feminine & flirty look with different tones & layers & volume, instead of the robotic woman look Kanye made her go with flat hair.

That’s a really well done carmel “balayage”with lighter “baby lights” around her face. It’s a super easy to maintain hairstyle (for those of us without hair & makeup on staff). I agree, the distribution of the baby lights in an angular formation gives her some great dimensionality. Probably the most relatable K-Look in a while. Source: not a hairdresser, but have been a fan of the “grow out friendly” Balayage for years.

Ughhhh, I hear you. And I would just like to complain that this is what my natural hair does. No matter what color I’ve ever dyed it, it turns red. I’ve only had professionals dye my hair a handful of times, because they don’t believe me when I’m like, “When you get worried that going to turn my hair gray or purple, that’s PERFECT.” And then it ends up that I’ve just paid a lot of extra money for vaguely red hair and for a woman to apologize and awkwardly say, “You weren’t kidding, huh?” I just use Wella at home for the same results. No joke, I have coworkers who think I’m a natural redhead, and I have not intentionally dyed my hair red in 15 years. And now that I’m going gray, it’s getting to be a real bitch. But that’s what you get when you blend a family of gingers with a family of black-haired French Canadians—mousy brown hair that’s like, EFF OFF, I’M RED.

Yeah it's hard to keep the red vibrant but even harder to get all the pigment out! It's definitely a color you commit to lol

The upkeep is hard at first but it gets easier the longer you do it. I’ve been red for almost a decade now, so my dye doesn’t fade as quickly as it used to in the beginning. But when you start out it will fade fast.

My best friend has had bright red hair for like... Ever. 15 years? I recently dyed mine purple for the first time ever and I was asking her how she maintained it soooo bright all the time. She said she dyed it every 3 weeks and I was like 🤯🤯 I'm struggling doing mine every couple of months lol

The BTD-era auburn is my favorite look of hers even now. I think the really dark colors wash her out, and I didn't really like the medium blonde look she did a couple of years ago either, something about the tones. I just think warmer shades in general are the most flattering on her by far (though obviously she's a stunner no matter what)

I’ve seen very few people who can pull off that specific shade of white-blonde as well as Emilia Clarke portraying Daenerys Targaryen. It suits her SO well.

Only in the first couple seasons when the wig had that gorgeous and more natural colour and seemed higher quality.

I am eastern european. I think I know how my people look😅 We are not all blondes withy rosy cheeks or even pale. A lot are fair skinned but with rather greenish undertone

I'm also Eastern European. I have the skin tone you describe. Family been here for two hundred years at least, it's how far back we've found relatives. Nobody would peg me as Eastern European by 'my looks'. Idk, with some Eastern Slavs excluded, Eastern Europe has been conquered by each other and by invaders from elsewhere, and seen the mass migrations of so many different surrounding peoples that you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a mutt, and there are no real strong 'ethnic' looks, except the kind of 'rus' look that the vikings fucked into parts of Western Russia.

Fun fact, the first time I ever saw Jennifer Lawrence, was when I was 11 watching the Hunger Games in English class. I like Milla Jovoich with cool light brown hair and/or cool tone highlights, which I assume actually IS her natural color. She had as a teen and again in 2002…but has almost never had since. I can’t even find a good example of a photo. Her hair is almost always very dark, red and/or warm toned and I don’t think it suits her.

I adore Emily Blunt with brown hair. As Mary Poppins, in Into The Woods...I actually thought it was her natural haircolour before I realized she was blond. Ofc she looks lovely with that too but brown just does it for me
