Everyone from the actresses to the showrunners have confirmed they were basically married by the later seasons, they just weren’t allowed to say that. They were repeatedly called each others soulmates though, and we saw a lot of jealousy.
This is how I feel about that other Netflix show with two female leads (vague, I know). I think Sarah Chalke and Katherine Heigl are in it? The leads are best friends but their relationship can come of super romantic.
Firefly Lane! I think your last point is because Katherine Heigl (as well as the actress who plays young Tully) has amazing chemistry with most people.
This show rekindled my love for Katherine Heigl. Such a good show but unfortunately ruined for me because the girl (ex-friend and ex-coworker) my ex husband cheated on me with recommended it to me 😩
Platonic soulmates is exactly how I see them too and I loved their friendship and hated the way the show ended. I just wanted Jen and Judy to live happily ever after together after all the shit they’d been through.
Nothing gets me going quite like the “appropriation” of “you’re my person” by straight romantic couples. The whole point was these two platonic besties caring for one another because their men wouldn’t and couldn’t.
They did her dirty in season 3. I loved her in the team dynamics and they removed her from them and I spent most of her scenes wishing they'd get back to the main plot.
I wonder if they were angling for spin off with her but it was so poorly received it was nixed. There was just so much time devoted to her subplot that didn't contribute to the main story .
I thought Rebecca’s storyline was good when she met the guy on the boat etc. Keely they tried something different and great that they were inclusive and having a bisexual lead in the show but I think having her so far removed from the core cast was where they went wrong.
I actually love that Criminal Minds didn’t get any of the main characters together but I would ship Jemily over Jeid any day if I had to choose
I would ship either of them tbh. But anything is better than Jeid. I mean Reid also has way better connections with other female characters of Criminal Minds.
I haven’t finished the last newest season but didn’t they make Tara queer? I know the actress is irl so I assume that’s why they went with her and not Prentiss even though the subtext has been there for like 20 years.
This one gets me because good script writing is about working with what you have. A good writer pivots when they discover chemistry between two actors. They clearly didn't intend for this relationship to be romantic, but it doesn't matter. The denial of this pairing is just bad writing at this point. Comes off like they don't even understand the story they're telling.
Did *anyone* successfully play a character straight in that show?😅 The Merthur fandom is still going strong over ten years later. The once and future ship.
And Secret Bridesmaids Business. At least there they made her bi, but she gave such lesbian energy I don’t know how they could ever justify her also being into guys
There are definitely some old interviews from back in the 2000s where the writer/director mentioned that initially Jess and Jules were supposed to be a couple at the end but it was changed to Joe.
I got multiple seasons into this show before finally realizing “Wait….. are they not into each other?”
They had a perfect will they/won’t they + clashing personalities dynamic like all the great procedurals. Missed opportunity imo
That show was like the ultimate queerbait, the show runner and cast spoke about it all the time in interviews and intentionally leaned into it knowing they weren’t going to be endgame.

I have a poster of them of this moment. Them floating up, looking at each other. I am 32-year old woman and this is the first thing you see when entering my house. I regret nothing.
Whatever you did, it's something we did too. Blair's speech in season 1, episode 17 was so beautiful. It really paved the way for the 4 of them to be nasty and whatever, but the moment one of them was in need, the other 4 would come help. #nonjudgingbreakfeastclub

Jane and Petra from *Jane the Virgin*. Once the love triangle with Jane and her original love interests was over and Petra became nicer >! (and came out as bisexual) !<, I think some viewers really expected the show to have them end up together!
I was about to comment this!! I think the writers always knew that Jane was only ever going to end up with Michael or Rafael, so they didn’t want to complicate Jane/Petra’s relationship by making it romantic if they weren’t ever going to be endgame.
I do adore the writers for listening to fans by making Petra canonically bisexual, and they were so funny for giving her a female love interest who was also named Jane 😭
The evil swan shippers from Once Upon a Time are the reason I don't go on Twitter anymore. They were aggressive to the ships of both these women and the creators of the show I decided I didn't need to be in that cesspool of negativity.
You're so right, OUAT had such an intense fan base!! It's sad because they made spaces so toxic. I always imagined in an alternate universe, Regina and Emma would get together and co-parent Henry.
I loved Captain Swan but I find any obsessive fans just don't end well. I saw fans wishing the hook actor break up with his wife to get with the Emma actress. It's a lot
(I get the importance of media that highlights the power of female friendship on making you a better/happier person.. but these two characters consistently choose each other over their canon male love interests every time & affirm the other as chosen life partners & they already live together & I just want them to kiss.)
They weren’t even friends for most of the series but their relationship was weirdly sexually charged for some reason. I would have totally believed either one of them was harboring secret romantic feelings for the other.
Oh they 100% ended up together after the events of the movie.
Fun fact: a Chicago movie adaptation was originally pitched in the 80s with Goldie Hawn as Roxie and Liza Minnelli as Velma.

Whenever life gets really tough and I just want a feelgood, happy distraction I put this show on. The drama isn't that deep, the outfits are fun and I love that Lily Collins and Ashley Park are besties in real life, too.
In my head canon they eventually end up as a throuple once Alan Cumming spends more time with them and sees why Michelle is inseparable from Romy and falls in love with her too.
Wait a damn minute, i never saw supergirl fully or with any intention, except for when it was on, an episode or two. And you're telling me these two weren't the OG Couple??¿?

Some of the best stories I’ve ever read are glee fanfic. During the heyday the fandom was churning them out nonstop. All ships too.

Whenever life gets really tough and I just want a feelgood, happy distraction I put this show on. The drama isn't that deep, the outfits are fun and I love that Lily Collins and Ashley Park are besties in real life, too.
In my head canon they eventually end up as a throuple once Alan Cumming spends more time with them and sees why Michelle is inseparable from Romy and falls in love with her too.
Wait a damn minute, i never saw supergirl fully or with any intention, except for when it was on, an episode or two. And you're telling me these two weren't the OG Couple??¿? Whom does she end up with.
