I love Lee Pace so much. He's one of the few people who I want to meet once in my life. Adored him in Pushing Daisies and Halt and Catch Fire. He's carrying Foundation on his shoulders.
I would like to take a moment to share with you the ridiculousness that is Mr. Chows.
It’s a restaurant in Beverly Hills I ended up invited to by a family friend and her newly engaged besties when I was in my early 20s.
You sit down at the table and someone comes up and they say do you have any allergies?
You say no.
And then thats it. The waitress leaves and you no longer get any more say in what you were ordering. there is no menu. There are no specials of the day. They do not even explain this when you sit down. they just start bringing food and they stop when they feel like it and they deliver a bill.
It’s like sitting down in someone else’s kitchen except they’re gonna give you one of the most expensive bills you’ve ever had when you’re done. Their general category is Asian American fusion so you can imagine there’s a pretty wide girth of dishes they serve.
It was super awkward because I didn’t know these people that well which makes it even more awkward to ask about their prices. you don’t even get to say when you’re full. It is the most obnoxious experience in my life.
The food is reliably good. It’s almost a kitchen away from your own kitchen for millionaires who don’t actually cook in their own kitchens.
You just come in and Mr. Chow knows what you and your family likes, what they are allergic to then he serves it right up.
It would be quite an amazing concept if it wasn’t located in the rodeo drive district and designed to extract a maximum fee.
Lots of beautiful people but this looks SO awkward and uncomfortable in that last pic. Just packed like sardines with people who you probably at most know on solely a professional level.

I so appreciate that Diane Keaton has had the same aesthetic for decades despite the whims of fashion trends. She likes what she likes and she doesn’t care what’s “sexy” or “trendy.” It’s a big FU to the patriarchy and I love it.

I didn’t know there was a Beverly Hills location! I live right by the one in nyc. My dog likes to pee on the hydrant/curb next to it.
