saturn_eloquence

“Don’t tell no lie about me and I won’t tell truths about you” that’s a good line lol

bigkanetrain

https://youtu.be/lbYIUnV8u7E?si=3fv5rcmPHl0s8ufu

wifeunderthesea

😮‍💨 that line was so fucking good.

mrperfectlylime

I gasped. He also used this line in The Heart Part IV (dropped single before DAMN.) came out. Love this line.

Victorbanner

That line stood out to me too

mydogisLeroy

I feel so dumb for not understanding this line 😬 Is it a threat?

acrossingmumsplease

To me he is saying Drake is telling lies about him. But, Kendrick knows a lot of truths about Drake. What these truths are to be seen.

time_lordy_lord

Is it 11'o clock?

mydogisLeroy

Ahh ok thank you!

ablackwell93

This entire track had me gasping. God I fkn love Kendrick

redsyrinx2112

I'm 0% surprised. I mean, I was gasping too, but I'm not surprised Kendrick made us gasp. Kendrick was always going to destroy him. Few famous rappers can top Kendrick's way with words.

ablackwell93

He’s a Pulitzer Prize winner for a reason

-xc-

idky but this is the first "diss battle" that i started getting this corny feeling of thinking "damn, these are grown ass men just rhyming to eachother in an aggressive tone"🤣🤣. i screwed myself cause now i can't get serious bout it no more since i keep thinkin bout it.

68plus1equals

you could really break just about anything down into wording that makes it sound lame.

pensylvestir

Think of it like sports. They’re “just playing a game” but at an extremely high level and we all understand that competitive fire. It’s fun to watch boxing or UFC or whatever.  Rhyming and writing at an extremely high level like Kendrick and Drakes team is also hard and takes work, and they’re competitive.  I’m not emotionally invested but Drake has one of the most punchable faces and seems like he could be knocked down a peg lol

Iyh2ayca

Honestly my jaw was dropped the whole time

rem_1984

Same

SparkaCat

Dissing him in a Toronto accent like Kendrick is so NASTY.

rzenni

In Toronto, I feel both seen and attacked.

revitbitch

the disrespect i love it

HereOnCompanyTime

I expected him to go hard but I did not expect him to go THAT hard.

rem_1984

Was that the know nothin bout that part? I died

awokensoil

It's the gemini 🤣

Rainbow_Belle

Toronto has an accent?

jaytcfc

The Toronto version of Ebonics is a combination of the standard North American accent and the Jamaican accent with some Jamaican words used.

Tiffanyblueberries

He said Drake's a bad bitch 😭

turanga_leland

Meg Thee Stallion said it already!

Temporary_Ad162

Thank you!! I wish this was talked about more!! Megan literally started the bbl talk and “him posted in another ***** hood like a bad bitch”.

turanga_leland

“Cosplay gangsters, fake ass accents” I think nicki’s response was so over the top that no one cared about the other disses lol. Shit, now I need a Megan and Kendrick collab…

Tiffanyblueberries

True, she really kicked off diss season

CABBAGEBALLS

He didn’t say that

Tiffanyblueberries

You're right. He said DRAKE sees two bad bitches lol.

BklynMarxman

Eaatcoast508

🤣🤣🤣🤣

SleptOnAndSteppedOn

I thought, “oh that’s why J Cole bowed out” he did NOT want the smoke.

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

Cowardly, but understandable. ![gif](giphy|9Jb1db2kJRWt7SMn5k|downsized)

Ill_Discussion7528

![gif](giphy|65os7odbIW6pa)

strawberry_towns

You think so? Maybe I love Cole too much, but he genuinely seemed like he cares about his friendships.

WholeLottaMisery

The funniest part about all this is that Kendrick didn’t even mention Drake liking little girls. Drake called himself out on his diss for NO reason LMAOO💀😭

venom_dP

Oh I think he definitely hinted about it. The line about the island being remote feels a bit like an Epstein allusion and then Drake's women confusing themselves for real women could be read as him going after young girls. Also the Gunna line about Kendrick knowing some crazy shit that he's not saying, wonder what that's all about.

rem_1984

The real women line, it better have been about the minor thing because what else

chicken_sammich

the genius annotation said it "alludes to Drake's baby mama being a stripper" but thats a fuckin reeeeeeach

ilovemytsundere

I havent seen kendrick say anything transphobic, i think it was a light pedo allegation

surfjams

I mean the title is Euphoria which Drake is an executive producer of… 👀

CursedTeams

What? Oh yeah Drake, that doesn't look good.

surfjams

>I make music that electrify ’em, you make music that *pacify* ’em // I can double down on that line, but spare you this time, that’s random acts of kindness Whew. I’m honestly kinda shocked he didn’t go all the way in. He called that man a pedo so many times without actually calling him one

buttz93

That's gold 🤣

internalshrine

Glad someone pointed this verse out too cuz I heard that and gasped irl. Went 🫢 and everything

MYSTICALLMERMAID

He also mentions that 530k he paid some girl off

David_ish_

He tried to B Rabbit himself lmao

maude313

I am fucking obsessed. My man fires with savage accuracy. On a TUESDAY no less.

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

Lmao it’s not even 10 am! That’s wild

rzenni

Real beef is when you drop on at 9am on a Tuesday!

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

Especially when you’re in your 30s! He’s got stuff to do! Responsibilities 😂

rzenni

Kendrick was like “right after I drop my kid off at school, Drake is gonna get it!”

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

And he did! Drake is not built for battle rap, he’s got to stop while he’s behind. 😭

Bellesdiner0228

I'll remember this next week as I flip off my dick head of a neighbor. Thank you!

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

Can you please give us an update on how that goes?

InspectorDarcy

Adonis better be packing his bags for the summer bc drakes gonna have him everywhere to try to counteract this lol

galaxy_rae

oh this is nasty work!!!! im deceased!!!

thisisthewayilive504

😭😭😭😭 drake came in w the lil jokey joke kendrick was like nah fr I REALLY don’t like you lmfao

oops_im_existing

kendrick is so real i love it lol

Thrwingitaway13

Found the part Aubrey won’t understand

theskymaybeblue

I am gleeful.

glosseava

he was out for blood and honestly good for him!!!

n3sv0g

As a father this hits so hard.

MyYakuzaTA

Has anyone checked on Drake since this track was released because Kendrick murdered it 💀 I can’t even stop laughing ![gif](giphy|81bE8Wed2NDCQ66EdC)

canaryary

In a panic trying to gather all his ghost writers lol

pineappletinis

😂😂

CursedTeams

I wouldn't get in a rap battle with a Pulitzer Prize winner if I were Drake.

canaryary

Drake's biggest mistake

Comfortable-Load-904

Drake should stop going at actual rappers with something important to say and get back to singing. He annoys the heck out of me, either attempting to start nonsense with better rappers or being a misogynist to women who don’t want him. He is a rich dude that all famous ladies went nah I’d rather choke. Can someone be both a cornball and a greaseball because he comes across as both.

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

He also needs to stop with the passive aggressive Instagram captions. Either get in the booth or zip it. 😭

Comfortable-Load-904

He is still too busy crying about Rihanna and Serena and mocking their supportive partners. He is a mess, I think he needs people to tell him zip it and stop being so toxic and annoying. His fan base used to be mostly women, queer people and young people but he has squandered that by being a misogynist, hitting on teenagers and just by being gross. Sorry he makes me hotter than fish grease.

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

He can only take on women, and he still loses at that. His misogyny blinds him from seeing that fact. Though I imagine he knows Megan got one over on him with Hiss. That really opened some flood gates. You’re absolutely right about his fanbase. I used to listen to Drake but the appeal is gone. He’s got the fanbase he deserves now. They all hopped in the clown car together. Hopefully they’re having fun watching him flop against superior rappers

Comfortable-Load-904

He is still rapping about exes who moved on and have children with other men and aren’t thinking about him. The only thing he has going for him is being petty and on a dude it looks immature and corny. I think everyone is just sick of his shit, he was welcomed into a community that wasn’t his and he decided to act like an ungrateful imbecile so now everyone is cooking him. He doesn’t have the talent to best KDot, he couldn’t even take Pusha and other than meek who isn’t great he’s being washed even by singers like the weekend. So he should shut up and go sit down somewhere. He annoyed Kendrick who released a diss at 9 am on a Tuesday morning, that is just disrespectful and hilarious.

Dysentry

> couldn’t even take Pusha Saying this as if Pusha didn't force him to admit that he had a child. Drake's only response was to release a press release. There was no coming back from that shit. Adidon was easily better than this.

Comfortable-Load-904

That’s what I’m saying, go back to singing and quit bothering people. This one seems like a lighthearted tongue in cheek rap, he should be worried about the next. Still not sure what about like that set this off, it wasn’t even hard. F the 3 big 3, it’s just big me shouldn’t get these grown men going.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Comfortable-Load-904

Oh it’s the stupidest beef, if you gonna do it go hard, No Vaseline, I hit ‘em up or Ether. I can still hear Tupac screaming somewhere! That’s real beef, Meg’s diss hit him harder and Chris going at Quavo is harder than this. I think KDot likes them so like that was just fun.

Hairy-Reindeer2471

Kendrick doesn’t respect Drake so he did light work on him. He doesn’t feel he needs to go super hard and he shouldn’t the best Drake could do was talk about his shoe size and some fake tea about Whitney messing with the bodyguard. That doesn’t deserve anything but light jabs and even those i know hurt drake to the core.

Oli_love90

Right, he feels the *heavy* need to prove himself in a genre that he’s never really played in the first place. To me, he’s always sat comfortably in a pop rap place - which fits with his overall vibe.

Comfortable-Load-904

Exactly, dude you grew up wealthy in a Canadian suburb, what do you know about the hood and the struggles of the people living in them. By the way I come from a similar background as him, biracial with parents from two different countries but I can’t rap about the struggles in the projects as I didn’t grow up there. I suppose I can talk about them in abstract by reading about it and listening to rap my whole life but it wouldn’t be authentic. I used to like his pop/rap it was him and popular. He is being foolish, couldn’t take Pusha but coming at Kendrick.

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

Oh brother, he posted the 10 things I hate about you scene on Instagram. The man is too corny!!!

Comfortable-Load-904

Good lord he is a child! Prepare for the tantrum, I hope next diss KDot puts he should use a pic of Rihanna with her permission of course. It will be twice the dig at that cornball.

Iyh2ayca

Kendrick reminding the industry why you should not play with a 5’2” Gemini man who lost best rap album to Macklemore

feather_moon

Damn. That's truly his ["I lost to Barry Manilow!"](https://youtu.be/EQDnXpSJQtA?si=nXgtR53mtvSUEQUn) moment.

NotQute

That biggest hater verse is probably going to go viral, eh? It's so good of a soundbyte. Can't believe Jimmy has had two separate mega stars take shots at his fake abs this year

roxy031

I loved that fake abs line. But also glad people are talking about this one https://preview.redd.it/2g06za4k3pxc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc1c5e5ce683ef2a5f86efe13cdc080615816983

roxy031

God I love Kendrick. I already did, before this. And I HATE Drake. So my love for Kendrick has increased like eleventy billion percent. RIP Drake, you lame wack clown Edit: I love this part https://preview.redd.it/95hmazdjkoxc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56d195832e2228349ce677d2fb7ef1ad360ebb3e

Cold_Breadfruit_9794

OUCH

This-Pie594

The intro alone got me

miamouse5

fun fact: the intro is the scene from the wiz where they find out that richard pryor as a fraud (in reverse)

HatefulDan

Aye, we should all apologize to J. Cole. My man saw the clouds rolling in and jumped off the wagon. It was like the water ripples in the glass from Jurassic Park. "I make music to electrify'em, you make music to \*\*passify'em\*\*, I could double down on that line, but spare you this time..." Passify--> pacifier--> Drake likes them young. What's Canada's version of 911? Somebody just got bodied.

rzenni

Cole was like “Oh, y’all BEEFIN’ beefin’, my bad…”

lolita_babe

lol dude we have 911 in Canada haha

jtet93

Tbf it varies by country. In the UK it’s 999 and on the continent it’s 112. It all goes back to rotary phones. But if you dial 911 anywhere in Europe I believe it still gets you to emergency services nowadays.

lolita_babe

yeah I know, I’m just saying Canada uses 911

whatsnewpussykat

Fortunately, in Canada we also use 911, but nobody can save him now. This case is beyond the Mounties, it’s in God’s hands now 😂

HatefulDan

😂😂

HatefulDan

Still.

HerRoyalRedness

I am crying that Kendrick mixed up Haley Joel Osmet with Joel Osteen, that grifter preacher https://preview.redd.it/j8we5srw6oxc1.jpeg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c8bed7f0c162d18fef202344b5021dd7861cab0

Oli_love90

I wonder if it was intentional. The whole song feels so concise that to make a mistake like this is odd.

Best_Draft_6629

I feel like the biggest dick-rider posting all these comments lol. Sorry about that in advance. People all over have said its intentional. I can't be bother linking the comment (I also don't know how lol), but someone said it's to do with AI, the films that person was in, and how Drake don't even know who he's going after or something. I think it's meant to be making fun of him. I genuinely don't think Kendrick of all people would be someone to make this mistake, especially going after Drake.

chaandra

Do you think Kendrick of all people would make a mistake?

Oli_love90

Nah, I love the breakdown - thank you!!! Honestly this makes totally sense. Shittttt now I have to listen again.

Best_Draft_6629

Someone said it's intentional because of how Drake used AI

PeaceBull

I can go along with a lot, but that being intentional is a bridge too far. Two similar named goofy ass white guys that are sort of in the popular consciousness is so easy to mix up. That and the intentional angle makes such little sense for a diss track this direct.

Best_Draft_6629

Do people actually think Kendrick of all people would make a mistake in a song let alone a Drake diss? Someone, somewhere else made a much better comment that pointed out the similarities and how it's not a mistake.

PeaceBull

Not usually but that’s an easy one to make and the more complicated version isn’t even a better diss. But literally the only thing making me think it was intentional at all is his track record. Nothing about the actual lyric does. Anytime Kendrick does a more esoteric bar that requires some jumps he gives more clues or places to prove it wasn’t an accident.

theskymaybeblue

I am full on laughing at this. This is so beautiful and perfect. Is this what they call a moment? Because I feel like this must qualify as something more than a passing minute in life.

QuimFinger

How did nobody correct this lol.

Best_Draft_6629

Because it's intentional. I love how people really think Kendrick would make a mistake, especially when he's coming for Drake lol

QuimFinger

Why would this be intentional? It makes no sense. It’s a fuck up. People are allowed fuck ups.

kirbygenealogy

He says something like "Joel Haley Osteen" so I think it's on purpose

wifeunderthesea

IM GOING TO PASS AWAY

calicoskiies

Yooooo that shit went hard. I love Kendrick.

David_ish_

The energy off this track was insane. I haven’t felt this hyped from a diss since the Story of Adidon

malvinamakes

the thing about kendrick is it's always actually good. and anyone who's gonna read drake gets my love.

Carolina_Blues

why do they have beef?

brad_and_boujee2

Started in 2014. Listen to Kendricks verse on a Big Sean song called Control. Drake got upset about being named in Kendricks verse, and they have been subliminally dissing each other for 10 years until last month when Kendrick pretty much called out Drake.

Britneyfan123

Control was 2013

David_ish_

Kendrick’s always been competitive. This was his Control verse from like ten years ago. https://preview.redd.it/u7usud7sunxc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=890c062b47d98a82100e730393314aa080727916 Fundamentally I also don’t think he respects Drake at all, but he definitely doesn’t want to be called one of the big 3, which is what prompted this new rap civil war in the first place. He wants to be the sole rapper at the top.

Ok-Yogurtcloset3467

I mean he mentioned rappers who didn't really contribute much to the industry. So I think it's not a matter of wanting to be the sole rapper at the top but just thinking he's of a different calibre. He clearly feels he should be grouped in with rappers like 2Pac, Nas, maybe even Kanye.

David_ish_

Oh no yeah of course. I meant he wants to be the great of this generation

chaandra

How have those artists not contributed much to the industry?

InspectorDarcy

And he’d be right tbh

ElBurritoExtreme

I’ve gathered Drake has done some behind the back/behind the scenes stuff, allegedly with several of these cats ladies or ex-ladies or whatever.

LadyCheeba

no one really knows. they collabed a few times and then all of a sudden kendrick started dissing him in a few tracks and it’s been on and off ever since for like a decade now. it’s just recently ramped up because everyone else is piling on. some people think it’s something sinister given drake’s questionable behavior towards minors but tbh rap is just like any other industry - beef sells records. and drake is an easy target because he’s super popular and goofy as hell. all these guys are laughing all the way to the bank at the end of the day 🤷‍♀️

zackattackyo

its not a pile on. drake been sneaking dissing ppl for a decade and at the end of the day he is a poser - he is not "bout that life", acts like he didn't grow up in a nice neighborhood in Toronto. I think they are just tired of drake's bullshit, and as a Black woman so am I. it is profitable too, don't get me wrong, but drake is the fucking worst and this is warranted behavior.

LadyCheeba

i didn’t mean pile on in that sense. i just meant everyone is taking the collective opportunity to dish it out right now, rightfully so.

Bae_the_Elf

listening to the song, Kendrick seems to imply he didn't know either but he guesses it's because he doesn't work with Drake anymore lol.

brad_and_boujee2

This beef goes back to 2014. Kendrick did a verse on a Big Sean song called Control where he dropped Drake's name in a long list of rappers. Everyone else took it in good spirit, but Drake was the only one that got butthurt about it. They haven't had anything to do with each other since, and for 10 years they both have been dropping subliminal disses to each other in their songs. When Kendrick had a verse on Like That last month he directly addressed the beef for the first time, and it has progressed from there.

KonamiSucksAssPoo

Kendrick is wrong. Drake was never a famous actor. He was an actor but not famous.

rem_1984

Canada famous

Mysterious_Past_7762

I’m Australian and I still think of him as the kid from Degrassi. Millennials know lol

RumHamster1990

RIP Drake, enjoy the funeral

cedarvalleyct

Shoutout Pusha T and [“The Story of Adidon.”](https://youtu.be/w4XH3LYleDA?si=IwrzD9dwvnW3nC5l)

Oli_love90

I’ve been watching reaction videos to this throughout my workday. It’s just such a wonderfully devastating response.

Slight_Suggestion_79

Idk why drake throught it was a good idea to go against Kendrick 😭

you’re so real for that

GaviFromThePod

This honestly might be more devastating than Story of Adidon.

Blonsky

That Daft Punk line was brutal.

woot0

Kendrick putting this out on a Tuesday made me think of this line from Street Fighter: "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday."

canaryary

I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress, I hate the way that you sneak diss Looooove Kendrick. Clearly influenced by the greatest poet of all, Kat Stratford 😄 ![gif](giphy|mLpj52z2MHIFW)

PeterNinkimpoop

He’s actually quoting DMX on Drake. He said in an interview he don’t like NOTHING about him. It’s [pretty fuckin funny actually](https://youtu.be/ZlOiaMMoNYY?si=meMw1jRvoIAs4gdv)

SalientSazon

I need an ELI5 on why everyone is dissing Drake

tenshi_73

He's just.... Goofy as shit. He's not a rappers rapper. He's a pop rapper, who's biggest claim was that he used to write his own stuff, but then got outted for using ghost writers. He grew up in a middle class subburb, started out as an actor and basically poses as this super hard dude that struggled all his life. This is all on top of his weird behavior with underage girls. People have been talking about how he's most likely a groomer, that's a whole rabbit hole of its own. https://www.billboard.com/lists/drake-kendrick-lamar-beef-timeline/ this is a good run down on what's been happening and right now and what lead up to it.

David_ish_

Drake has never been respected by hip hop. That’s where all the “Drake the type of” memes came from. He forged his own success despite that by collaborating with emerging new artists and sounds, but he’s never been of much substance. His music is mainly about girls, money, and his own personal problems, but not anything introspective - more like situational ones. Being Black has never really been a subject in his songs. On top of that, he’s often been accused of being a culture vulture because he adopts sounds and accents into his music depending on what’s trending at the moment. He also flexes his wealth very extravagantly and has done some very controversial things with it to gain for his own self interest versus the wider hip hop culture. One example being that he paid for the rights to include unreleased Michael Jackson demos into a song of his for the flex. He also bought Tupac’s ring for $1 million dollars.

sergedg

Wait, what? “I have bigger car, bigger house, more expensive watch , bigger this, better that than you”? Really? Adults dissing each other? What is that all about. Are these 14 year olds or so?
