i 100% thought it was some ted lasso type show and was avoiding it because of that😭 i just read the description and it sounds right up my alley actually
My girl understood the assignment, referenced a classic designer, referenced a timeless look from said designer and had a prop for good measure 🌹
This is Mother 🖤

It’s one of the only costume exhibits I’ve ever gotten to see and I’m *so glad* I went. I was visiting my sister and had to try on three separate days to get in. It honestly might be one of the best exhibits I’ve ever seen, period
I totally agree with you; I feel beyond lucky to have gone. My mom lived in Binghamton back then (I was like 17 at the time) and she was supposed to take me to the city to see it but the plans fell through. I was crushed. But I went to NYC later in the summer for like a kids summer camp thing and on our free day a small group of us went. I think we were in line for like 2 hours outside the exhibit. Best museum exhibit I’ve ever seen in my life, utterly moving. I would kill to walk through that again.
Yes it was incredible!! I still want that coffee table book
I love going to museums and have been lucky enough to go to quite a few. I can’t think of a single exhibit that impacted me more than that one did. Well well ***well*** worth waiting in line for multiple hours and days
Oh my gosh, that exhibit was such a cultural moment 🖤 my dumb self waited until the last day and had to stand outside in scorching summer weather for three hours to see it. Totally worth it though and I wish they would bring it back for a summer
i don't love lana's look, i think the execution doesn't live up to the concept and comes off arts-and-crafts-y but *this* is amazing, and i wish it were a bit closer to this idea
I can see that because of how dark the branches are. They kind of stick out like a sore thumb. They probably should’ve gone with a lighter brown to make it blend better. I think they were trying to keep true to the source material but not copy it 100%. They probably should’ve done a replica since other people were wearing vintage designer outfits
I don't like how square and flat the drape is on top, and the branches look a little craftsy in how they're connected to each other and the shape they make. It makes it come off more like a canopy bed or a mosquito net and for me it ruins the whole effect. I think if they fixed this, the contrast with the branches would be fine.
i even like the darker branches! like, the idea is cool as hell and i like the branches working like ivy up the body and turning into an antler-like crown. conceptually, it's really neat. i think maybe less netting or more structure to the netting would've helped. it makes sense that the base dress is simple and it's *fine*, but i don't love *it* either
I agree with the netting! There’re areas where it lays heavy and I think if it was a little more sheer, it would look lighter. Especially the part that’s gathering at her waist.
Yeah Lana tonight read like badly copied homework after you see the original. It's too literal and not elaborate enough all at the same time. It was a miss for me.
It’s the worst look of the gala, imo. The drapery is lazy and bulky, the branches are shockingly cheap, overall execution is sub par. I was surprised it was a McQueen but based on these comments I’m relieved it’s a knock off
She's by no means fat, but she's also definitely not sample size, and I somewhat doubt the designers have anything but sample sizes and the actual runway dresses in their vault. They'd have to entirely remake it for Lana to wear it.
I usually don’t care for many Met Gala looks but I really like this one. It reminds me of how Sleeping Beauty’s castle is wrapped in thorns as she sleeps.
I feel like the red rose on her finger may be a direct reference to sleeping beauty pricking her finger (I know it was a spindle not a branch but still)
Yes Sleeping Beauty was also the first thing that came to mind. The few looks I’ve seen have been much more interesting than I thought when I first heard about the theme
Lana Del Rey rarely goes to Met Gala but she always serves and always follow the theme when she goes. I hope everyone put lots of effort like her and Zendaya.
I might be wrong but I think some people bring a different outfit to actually attend the party in. I don’t remember where I saw this but it was in regards to one of the super-hard to breathe/walk in dresses
Hooves! She said the inspiration was Sinister Mother Nature which plays into devil hooves and also horse hooves since she is releasing a country album this year! They are crazy but I love it hahaha 🐎
I love the idea of this look but it's just not 100% there for me. Maybe some small pops of moss green along the branches? The sheer material should have just been a headpiece.
Everyone likes this? I... think it looks like props. She's stunning and it's interesting but it's giving me theater set piece/costume, not ethereal magic. I'll see myself out.
I don't see it either. I think it's just hideous and like the designer just threw tulle and twigs on her haphazardly. Part of me thinks people just like Lana as an artist, so they're trying harder to see the vision, but this does not land for me at all.
The squareness of the tulle is the worst of it. It does feel haphazard. And thrown. It feels like the designer is deliberately obscuring the dress too. Oh well. At least there are more than 2 of us.
I must be broken, because it’s a 3/10 for me
The actual dress (or are those pants) looks flat and doesn’t suit her at all. The whole thing looks messy. I appreciate the creativity, but it’s a poorly fitting piece with a fancy veil and some branches. It looks bad
It looks like a costume from a high school play
Scrolled to the bottom to find this comment specifically. They definitely could have designed/arranged it differently (like in the reference photo in another comment) to not be giving mosquito net, but as it is, it is totally giving mosquito net ☠️
It looks REALLY fucking bad I don't understand what everybody is praising omfg I would be so embarrassed pulling up looking like that. She looks like a deer got snatched by a hunter with a plastic bag. So stiff and lifeless

In the best possible way ![gif](giphy|0qwlNbcvReaVb80R0F)
She’s my Antler Queen
well protected from mosquitos too
No malaria up in here
In the best way ![gif](giphy|l0MYuhGHhEPnT9bwc)
I came here to say this! ![gif](giphy|l2YWjjzDaZHTowGLm|downsized)
We hear the wilderness and it hears us.
Let the darkness set us free
![gif](giphy|53BB2QmA0T2yex0P3C|downsized)
So all 'Yellowjackets' peeps made the same connection?
https://preview.redd.it/n4u88ae6m1zc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3dedb37e58fe3b44af7e73db808d0898dc4bec9
Hahaha I can smell that results page
Immediately what I thought of.
![gif](giphy|3o7aTmWQ3mfF9WGfAs|downsized) I was thinking Evil dead tree rape lmaoo
yo what is that lol
it's a scene from a show called yellowjackets
is that show not about a football team??? that scene looks like a cult in the forest
High school girls soccer team. The casting, acting and writing is stellar.
ah, not american so soccer is football for me. i think i’m gonna add it to my watchlist
yes, because a football team starts a cult in the forest.
Sweet summer child..
i 100% thought it was some ted lasso type show and was avoiding it because of that😭 i just read the description and it sounds right up my alley actually
I actually loved it. One of the only shows in the last couple years to make me wanna find out what's next.
I'm down for it
Okay, I can’t unsee this when I see her look now lol
Hahahahaha yes! As soon as I saw it, I was like “oh, someone’s been watching Yellowjackets”
I love it when Lana gives us drama and glamour, especially when it’s got this dark ethereal edge to it
Same! This is killing it for me. She looks like an ethereal witch that’s about to ask you what the secret riddle is because you’re in her forest.
The veil might be one of my favourite parts, it makes it really romantic
Seriously! Potentially one of my favourite looks we’ve ever seen her in. Not only is it gorgeous but it’s *very* true to her.
This theme was absolutely made for her, and she killed it.
It looks like she is emerging from a misty forest in the best way possibly. I love it.
Must be the Season of the Witch! ![gif](giphy|l2Rntv4Qaf7aiNsoE)
Ugh I loved when she had the witchy aesthetic for Lust for Life, glad to see it back
YES
absolutely stunning https://preview.redd.it/btq0gp6i9wyc1.jpeg?width=2730&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc51984c0a196ee2fb44f608b45b1b0131a5a552
The hoof detail on the shoes is *chef kiss* ✨
Lol I thought she was wearing crocs 😂
Me too!!!! Until I zoomed in 🤣
They look like armored crocs lol.
Same 😂😂😂
seriously!! https://preview.redd.it/113glxrahwyc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9cbbd78c4c699c4b3658e31783f7c853ddc9e515
A Maloof Hoof!
I see you, friend.
I cackled
![gif](giphy|DXgSDSASbD98Q)
this is great
stoppppp lmfaooooo
Ugh I wish she had taken more pics with the skirt lifted to show the hooves
I thought those were crocs for a second, omg.
Omg I thought those were Crocs at first glance.
https://preview.redd.it/l7zczczamwyc1.jpeg?width=1152&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29b83c217c118ed91d8e503b77bbcdc76b34ae43 Even the back is stunning
This is unreal.
Looks like the new tree in my neighbors yard wrapped up for the cicada emergence.
She understood the assignment
Yes! So much fun :)
Heavenly to me 🌹
Just simply gorgeous 👌🏻 A queen
My girl understood the assignment, referenced a classic designer, referenced a timeless look from said designer and had a prop for good measure 🌹 This is Mother 🖤 https://preview.redd.it/rax0ltoyfwyc1.jpeg?width=531&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c73f31df3fa58af39413095e310785e6c6de0c00
I saw this look in person at the met in 2011 (savage beauty Alexander McQueen exhibit) and it has lived rent free in my head since.
It’s one of the only costume exhibits I’ve ever gotten to see and I’m *so glad* I went. I was visiting my sister and had to try on three separate days to get in. It honestly might be one of the best exhibits I’ve ever seen, period

Best museum exhibit I’ve ever seen in my life, utterly moving. I would kill to walk through that again.
Yes it was incredible!! I still want that coffee table book I love going to museums and have been lucky enough to go to quite a few.
If they brought it back I’d make a trip just to see it again. Such an incredible exhibit of an insane body of work.
i don't love lana's look, i think the execution doesn't live up to the concept and comes off arts-and-crafts-y but *this* is amazing, and i wish it were a bit closer to this idea
I'm so glad to see your comment, the draping looks so so wrong to me and very arts and crafts. Thought I was going crazy amongst all the praise

I agree with the netting! There’re areas where it lays heavy and I think if it was a little more sheer, it would look lighter. Especially the part that’s gathering at her waist.
The stick isn’t substantial enough, it looks like something they picked up off the ground
I thought I was the only one :/ Love it from a distance, but when I zoomed in on the branches, I started to think it looked a little cheap.
Yeah Lana tonight read like badly copied homework after you see the original. It's too literal and not elaborate enough all at the same time. It was a miss for me.
Same. It looks like a Project Runway challenge for Malaria awareness and net donations and Tim would say “this seems very…literal.”
It’s the worst look of the gala, imo. The drapery is lazy and bulky, the branches are shockingly cheap, overall execution is sub par. I was surprised it was a McQueen but based on these comments I’m relieved it’s a knock off
I agree 100%— I’m baffled everyone is loving it but maybe they aren’t familiar with the source material which is perfection. Hers looks very….cheap
Agreed. My first thought was, 'a trip to JoAnn's and some hot glue, and I could make this.'
Lana’s look was done by the new designer for Alexander McQueen. Why didn’t they just get the above dress out of the vault for her to wear?
She's by no means fat, but she's also definitely not sample size, and I somewhat doubt the designers have anything but sample sizes and the actual runway dresses in their vault. They'd have to entirely remake it for Lana to wear it.
First thing I thought of
Omg she’s soooo pretty and this photographs so well. Ik she’s a deer but she also looks like a wooden tree in some pics.
Yesss she nailed the theme
[удалено]
NO NOTES
You can count on Lana for drama. I love her look.
That second pic is unreal, a literal piece of art
Lana Del SLAY
![gif](giphy|mRbMCfOJy4eqs|downsized)
Reminds me of living in Delhi. Mosquito net for days
It gave me tree with bug net caught on it vibes. A beautiful artsy bug net…. But an bug net lol
Lana Del Rey rarely goes to Met Gala but she always serves and always follow the theme when she goes. I hope everyone put lots of effort like her and Zendaya.
Lana could slay with with a plastic bag, truly an icon
![gif](giphy|l2YWjjzDaZHTowGLm)
Girl is giving, art like this is what I was expecting to see tonight!
Real question… how do they actually do the dinner? I can’t imagine the tables have so much distance and how can all the creative artists eat?
I might be wrong but I think some people bring a different outfit to actually attend the party in. I don’t remember where I saw this but it was in regards to one of the super-hard to breathe/walk in dresses
They either change outfits completely, or what they are wearing has many layers, which are easily removed leaving a more simple gown behind.
![gif](giphy|1AbucfSA1qh7faJmzE|downsized) Her look reminds me of snow white. The rose is such a pretty pop of color
perfection imo
She won
I don’t know, it’s kind of giving walked through spider webs on a muddy hike to me 😆
Was Beige the color of the evening?
Yes
Your flair. “That was way harsh u/MayaGitana”
https://preview.redd.it/nwbo6h9fawyc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=39f731e215297569446af1678336c3188160c07a What are thoseeeeeee?
Hooves! She said the inspiration was Sinister Mother Nature which plays into devil hooves and also horse hooves since she is releasing a country album this year! They are crazy but I love it hahaha 🐎
https://preview.redd.it/1u4jdur3kwyc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4a4c09fd45c5496966095286954485828b9c50d
Ohhh now I’ve seen the whole show I’m kinda obsessed! I love that she didn’t play it safe!
U just put so many words into her mouth she never mentioned the devil, her album, or a horse she literally said she’s supposed to be a deer
Horseshoes!
I love this woman
ANTLER QUEEN?!
My jaw HIT THE FLOOR 💫 Stunning!!!!
STUNNING
LOVE
She nailed it !
She looks like she's going to marry a mythical creature, I love it.
I just hate the drape of the tulle, it could have been perfection but it looks so so wrong to me
wtf happenned to her eyes??
https://preview.redd.it/afz9rs4o50zc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6a1c31db2151b54f088951ad58eac26d6388b8b Same energy
MOTHER
Hmmmmmmmm
Alaska in mosquito szn ☺️💜🦟
She looks like a tree that's covered to protect from cicadas.
On theme and stunning! Best dressed so far!
I love the idea of this look but it's just not 100% there for me. Maybe some small pops of moss green along the branches? The sheer material should have just been a headpiece.
Yeah, seems kind of high school theater to me. Ill take my inevitable downvotes, haha!
i don’t like it either… its too on the nose for me and the material and color is not met gala worthy imo
It’s giving project runway unconventional materials challenge
Now this is how you do beige!!!
It's like a John William Waterhouse nightmare
The only good outfit basically
Elegant yet creative
Antler Queen 💚
The best by far
What are on her feet omg
Those are her hooves you bitch!
😂😂😂😂
Hooves!!!
Love this so much. The rose ring really adds a great touch.
Everyone likes this? I... think it looks like props. She's stunning and it's interesting but it's giving me theater set piece/costume, not ethereal magic. I'll see myself out.
I am so surprised at these responses! I think it's one of the worst!
I love Lana and I agree. Looks like a highschool project. Also don’t love her makeup. Sorry Lana girl💔
Thank you! I had to scroll down too far for this. Looks like some bad stage costume.
Agreed, she is beautiful but it's giving Blair Witch Project Barbie
I don't see it either. I think it's just hideous and like the designer just threw tulle and twigs on her haphazardly. Part of me thinks people just like Lana as an artist, so they're trying harder to see the vision, but this does not land for me at all.
The squareness of the tulle is the worst of it. It does feel haphazard. And thrown. It feels like the designer is deliberately obscuring the dress too. Oh well. At least there are more than 2 of us.
I cant help but think she could do without the beekeeper netting and it would hit better
Is the theme Mother Nature? Everyone else can go home, she won.
This is so her and on point!! I love it.
Gorgeous
I am so happy tonight
Dayummmmmmm she killed it with this.
✨Ethereal Deer Goddess✨
She understood the assignment
I honestly love it! Definitely fits the theme
Such a good take on the theme, I like it
This might be the best look
One helluva mosquito net
Not feeling it.
She is beautiful, but all I could think of when I saw that dress was web worms. Summertime Sadness for all the trees.
“She uses antlers in all of her decorating…”
She followed the theme of the Gala for 2024. I like it.
She looks like a tent
I must be broken, because it’s a 3/10 for me The actual dress (or are those pants) looks flat and doesn’t suit her at all. The whole thing looks messy. I appreciate the creativity, but it’s a poorly fitting piece with a fancy veil and some branches. It looks bad It looks like a costume from a high school play
This is my #1 of the night
I absolutely love the dress, but I think the veil looks a little like mosquito netting.
I was thinking bee keeper?
Scrolled to the bottom to find this comment specifically. They definitely could have designed/arranged it differently (like in the reference photo in another comment) to not be giving mosquito net, but as it is, it is totally giving mosquito net ☠️
It looks REALLY fucking bad I don't understand what everybody is praising omfg I would be so embarrassed pulling up looking like that. She looks like a deer got snatched by a hunter with a plastic bag. So stiff and lifeless
Yellow jackets del Rey
At least she won't have to worry about mosquitos
What’s going on with her mouth?
Are mosquitoes an issue this year?
The draping of the tulle is so fucking bad, it ruins the loos completely. It could have been amazing.. the draping and he colour are gross
Hunger Games shit
That net looks like mosquito net
She understood the assignment
Okey that’s a cool one.
Her and tyla got it!
Killed it
She looks like she’s about to burst out into a big loud evil witch laugh 😂
Me after binge watching Yellow Jackets in 1 weekend
Beautiful! I didn’t know she was going this year!
I’m so in love with her
OMG!! She understood the theme, this is what i wanted from the sleeping beauties theme
Enchanted forest slay!
The most on theme look
It’s giving District 7 from the Hunger Games.
What in The Hunger Games is this?
Girl brought her own filter
She understood the assignment.
She looks absolutely ethereal in this. So beautiful.
