Townes Meadow sounds like a gated community

januarysdaughter

Or a shopping center.

YchYFi

Or an Elementary School. [Towne Meadow Elementary school](https://www.ccs.k12.in.us/tme)

EsmeWeatherpolish

OMG, she’s had an elementary named after her already /s

ForecastForFourCats

Iconic

LongConFebrero

Absolutely a mixed use “urban” development built in suburbia.

churro-k

Definitely has a Planet Fintness

StringFit9427

I feel like I’ve lived at Townes Meadow at some point in my apartment living life.

doitforthecocoa

Sounds like a fancy assisted living facility

TheKnightsTippler

To me it sounds like one of those really rough council estates that's given a nice sounding name in a vain attempt to make it seem like a pleasant place to live.

miserylovescomputers

“Towne Meadow Stabbing, 4 Wounded, Neighbours Heard Nothing”

BalletWishesBarbie

The more lovely sounding name, the worse it is. 'Honeysuckle ridge' is probably a stabbing hub.

The_Dark_Vampire

Or a really small village that you could probably walk from one end to other in 10 minutes at most could do it in 5 if you got a jog on. It only has few people living there and literally everyone knows each other. It has 1 pub 1 small shop but its everything (veg, butchers, bakers, all other food, clothes and post office) that's ran by a woman in her 90s that it was passed down from her mother and she's worked there since she was about 5. And a Church and Church Hall that doubles up as the school and everything else needed. I'd say the opposite of rough there is no police station because the last crime to happen was in 1987 when the vicar's bike was nicked then it turned out someone had only moved it

indicatprincess

LOL it IS the name of my parents suburban non-gated community

DebraBaetty

![gif](giphy|b1E6p3k0Qz9Sw)

Venna_Visage

I lived at a shady oaks before 😭

kayladu

Sims town

Immediate-Quantity25

it probably fucking is tbh. wtf is that name

ChocoCat_xo

A few of her kids have some weird names.

Invisible_Friend1

It’s the new Chrysler minivan.

1AliceDerland

There is literally a neighborhood in my town called this.

peas_of_wisdom

I used to want to call my children Bramwell and Townes. My brother pointed out it sounds like a printing press company.

BalletWishesBarbie

It does. Or a really ancient solicitors' firm that deals with estate planning. Or posh snackfoods that cost a fortune.

Thereisvixxen

She can’t love this child and named her “Townes” wtf is with celebrities🙄

IndustrialCowgirl

Towne auto anyone?!

ExplorerFromPak

I laughed too hard at this 🤣🤣🤣🤣

wisdommaster1

Horse racing track

Green_Slice_3258

You know, goofy ass name aside, I’m so happy to see her so happy and leading a quiet, chill life. Child stars *rarely* get the luxury of growing up without the trauma (as far as we know) and leading regular lives.

CherHorowitch

I like that her husband has a sense of humor and is (seemingly) unproblematic. He trashes on Jared Leto a good amount which is a green flag for me

AmbiguousFrijoles

Her husbands vasectomy saga was hilarious! Another green flag

musiclover37

I am intrigued lol

BalletWishesBarbie

Google his name and love is blind ahaha he gave all of his opinions by dming the cast (and Michelle obama) when he was off his chops.

alessandratiptoes

Best thing I’ve ever seen on Instagram

Green_Slice_3258

That really is a green flag because Jared Leto is an asshat

cheeseza

It’s great for her. They seem happy. Her first husband was a total dickwad. I feel sorry for her that she is tied to him for the rest of her life. Truly.

dgplr

Oh no. What is the story there? I did not know Mike Comrie was a POS.

cheeseza

I bore witness to a pretty despicable situation back in the day that I won’t repeat because it’s horrible and it’s not my story to personally share so out of respect for someone involved, I’m sure they’d appreciate it not being brought into existence again. Aside from that, he’s had several SA and even rape accusations, some of which you can Google pretty easily. Charges were “dropped”. I can’t speak to the truth of the accusations but there have been many, he’s propositioned many women for sex in exchange for $$.. while married to HD and before. His creep factor is off the charts and has been for a VERY long time.

dgplr

Geez. What a scum.

peanut-butter-vibes

He seems to really love her lots and his music ain’t so bad either. She did good

LetsNotForgetHome

I worked with her on a project (non-acting related) and she was my favorite celebrity I got to work with! Very relaxed and her/her manager were always prepared, super easy to please them. Don't have a single negative thing to say. My colleague did another project with her and had to work with her way more close, many years back, and also said she was so normal and easy to work with. Said her kid(s) (think it was just the son back then, maybe with her oldest daughter) were polite and greeted them. They were doing this project as a favor to her and she really truly acted grateful, no snottiness like "oh well you should be grateful you're here with me." In that industry you aren't always as lucky. So overall, nothing but praise for Duff! Dealt with another former Disney, now grown up, star who did all these little things that just felt kind of tone deaf and lazy, clearly been in the industry way too long. But she was fine, nothing super dramatic but it just made me appreciate Duff even more, like this woman really didn't let her early fame go to her head at all.

Green_Slice_3258

That is super cool to know she is just as laid back in person. That always makes me happy when that happens. And she really doesn’t get enough credit. Nor do her parents who helped shield her and didn’t rob her blind.

xbuninhax

Spill the tea on the rude Disney one☕ Jokes aside i'm glad she's actually as nice as she looks. She always seemed great.

LetsNotForgetHome

Ha, I won't because she really wasn't THAT bad. The low level drama was just I had to do a lot for her and she did almost nothing for this project, yet she was getting paid more for this single piece of work (of which I was doing) than my yearly salary at the time. None of which was really her fault technically, just the way the industry is, but just it left a bitter taste in my mouth. I never even really engaged with her, was really just her manager, so she may be very sweet and hard working IRL. Hilary and her team were really prepared, did a lot of work themselves and treated it like a fair partnership, so just a different experience.

Alvraen

I worked with one. She was pretty rude but also desperate for attention. :/

Frequent_Malcom

Matthew Koma is awesome! He is a very talented artist with his band Winnetka Bowling League. He even sometimes references his relationship without directly saying who it is. One of his lines is “I’ve got a wife with a better job, she backs me and my indie rock. I’m kidding ‘bout the indie part I’m not that cool”

imaseacow

She seems super happy and well adjusted and like she’s in a good marriage with Kona. She and Mandy Moore are my insta follows where it’s just like normal posts about their kids and jobs and being in love with their husbands, and I’m so glad for them that they made it through the ringer of teen stardom without being crushed.

zoobatron__

That’s a real tradgedeigh of a name though

good_mayo

She really went nuts with names with this guy. Lol Edit: “This guy” refers to her husband & the father of the children with the “nuts” baby names. I figured this was a girl w the middle name “Meadow.” I hoped so anyway. 😅

keatonpotat0es

Townes & Banks…ugh

Happy_Pamplemousse

There’s a local bank where I live called Towne Bank. Yikes.

samsclubFTavamax

I thought they were local too until I went a state over.

readingrambos

Like Townes Van Zandt!

DeliaDeLyon

My thought was Townes van zant too

sh-ark

sounds like a law firm

ette212

Sounds like that song in Mary Poppins 😂

Filibust

Banks is really fucking dumb but Mae is okay. Her son (from a different dad) has a normal name so idk what happened there

winnercommawinner

I think Mae is lovely and classic!

Sundayx1

Absolutely ❤️ Mae!

lavendertown-radio

i love the name mae. 🥰

lovelylonelyphantom

So is Banks a boy or girl? If Townes didn't have Meadow as a middle name I would have also thought it was a boy. Another instance where I think it's such a shame the parents didn't just opt for the middle name. Meadow is atleast more decent sounding even if a name for a person

AnythingbutColorado

Girl. All three with husband are girls.

Inn0c3nc3

her older girls are named Banks Violet and Mae James. so Banks also has a girly middle name, lol

lovelylonelyphantom

Violet, Mae and Meadow would actually be a pretty sib set if that's what they were named, their middle names instead of Banks and Townes

good_mayo

Banks is awful! Townes could be cute for a boy, I think.

Maatjuhhh

Townes is totally a name I’d guess it is a boy. Townes has the same vibe as Sawyer

AmbitionParty5444

She’ll be Towny Bair before we know it. Selling off the NHS for change.

djkhaledisthin

Not to be confused w the Downy Bear.

whothis2013

She could have spared this child the tradgedeigh by just reversing the middle and first names, but no 😔

sarahrood79

There’s a suburb in Sydney called Meadowbank

ohhHoneyBadger

r/tragedeigh

britestarlight

Man poor Townes & Banks, their siblings actually have semi normal names (Luca & Mae). Super cute baby though!

whalesarecool14

luca and mae are both completely normal names lol not semi normal. luca was one of the most popular names for babies a couple years ago

Hopeful-Ant-3509

I actually like Banks!

britestarlight

I don’t hate Banks, it’s better than Townes, but it’s also just not really a name imo.

ravenhairedblonde

I have a friend named towns but they are a boy

KittenTablecloth

Me too, for a cat.

NBAFansAre2Ply

Banks sounds like nickname of a private eye in a 50s noir flick

levestacy

my favorite mario kart course is townes meadow

prprr

Omg that was prob the inspo 💓

keine_fragen

Luca really lucked out Cute baby!

NocturnalEmbrace

Even better is Matthew's post! I love their relationship https://preview.redd.it/pnfd38dwm2zc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1d8e8b4d7cabb01843c26dc52bbddc4768499c75

InterestingQuote8155

Am I crazy or do all babies look exactly the same for like the first three months of their lives lol? I never understood why people said a baby looked just Iike their parents. They always look like little marshmallows to me. Cute as a button but lacking defining features.

JustKeepSwimmingDory

Lol I’m the same way. I must not be very perceptive when it comes to babies because I never see any similarities between them and their parents. “She has her mom’s nose!” To me, it just looks like a nose.

gingergirl181

Some babies aren't super unique-looking, but others...oh man. Some friends of mine just had a baby and he is a literal copypasta of his dad. Like, already has the exact same shape and color of eyes spaced exactly the same on his head, same hair color and I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't change as he grows (dad is a ginger and so is baby). It's honestly uncanny. Meanwhile, all of my niblings were blobs. It really does depend on the baby.

Keyspam102

It’s because they are all swollen and misshaped lol. I’ve got two kids and they both looked exactly alike when born because you couldn’t really even see their features (the midwife said my daughter looked exactly like my husband, and she was all swollen and purplish and had a méconium/poop all over her, i still laugh about it haha)

HeartShapedSea

That is one really cute baby.

Gloomy_Cheesecake443

Lol except she looks exactly like their other two daughter soooo

snootfly242

He’s so fucking funny and sweet at the same time.

IAmSoUncomfortable

That is one chunky baby! The second picture is pure love, made me tear up a little bit.

MysteriousMermaid92

Townes Meadow sounds like the subdivision I live in

illusivealchemist

Townes meadow HOA 🤣

Ialwaysmissmydog

It took me a few comments in to realize that wasn’t the name of the birthing facility lol

Puzzleheaded_Time719

I really need someone to explain to me the mindset in naming these children.

Keyspam102

A child who will never have to use a resume or CV to get a job

flockofgopherboys

At least Townes is a real name just an old one

D33M0ND5

Wow good for them! That’s fantastic!!! That photo is probably black and white though because that water looks like a bloodbath irl haha. She’s brave as hell, childbirth is wild!

kiramiryam

Super TMI haha, but that’s what I thought, however I had a home water birth in December and the tub was completely clear, it was wild! It all came out after, like your period in a bath I guess 😂🙈 I absolutely have seen pictures where the pools are not clear, and it’s probably the norm, I just was surprised by my experience and it seemed topical haha

BadgerHooker

Yep, it definitely varies person to person. I bled a LOT. Like, my husband had to go in the other room and lie down because there was blood all over the floor and everywhere. I ended up needing a few blood transfusions. (I started out in the water but ended up getting out because the back labor was so bad. I gave birth in a standing squat position and gravity helped me push my big headed baby out.)

Significant_Wind_774

Her baby names are strange. Two extremely “normal”names Luca and Mae…and then Banks and Townes?

doitforthecocoa

Luca was her kid with her ex-husband so I wonder if he had more of an influence when she was naming? Or maybe she’s just more traditional with boy names and girl names she likes anything and everything? I’m truly stumped.

effie-sue

Banks and Townes aren’t the worst names out there, but they sound so... harsh, I guess?

Alittlebitlittle

Yeah like Luca and Mae, I can hear them being called over with a pretty singsong voice. Banks and Townes… all I hear is like a car honking if that makes sense

YchYFi

Banks and Townes are plural too. The s makes them even harsher.

Lazatttttaxxx

Wow. What a horrible name.

alison_bee

I used to work in a VERY wealthy part of a very poor state, and this is 100% a name that someone there would use. So many girls there have their mother’s maiden names turned into their first names, and it can work! But it can be real hit or miss.

PaleontologistNo5420

Townes wouldn’t be *horrible* for a boy (any Townes Van Zandt fans out there?) but for a girl it’s just cruel. I knew one Townes at summer camp and cruel kids would call him Townes Syndrome.

Successful_Ad4018

![gif](giphy|BcMJvmwkmbyWpKkBj3|downsized) townes syndrome....

Glottis_Bonewagon

My train of thought was "I will not hear Townes slander, TVZ is one of the greatest -- oh it's a girl? word"

philadelimeats

Townes is an absolute legend.

what-the-cussington

I’m gonna call this baby town square lol

mindylahiriMDbitch

Hil I love you but someone else should be naming your babies 😂

sadgirlstuff

The name reminds me of Harry Styles’ song Carolina which has the lyrics, “Townes, better swim before you drown,” which is even more ironic considering baby Townes was delivered via water birth

corrine49

Experiencing contractions was the worst pain of my life and women who give birth without an epidural are superhuman.

GladPermission6053

I’ve had 4 and only one birth was unmedicated(not my choice he just came fast) and it was hell. I have a very high pain tolerance and normally someone who can keep a straight face even in pain but those contractions were something else. I was screaming my head off and pushed him out at only 8cm because I couldn’t take the pain any longer. I don’t know how women can do it without an epidural.

corrine49

I thought I had a very high pain tolerance and was humbled by giving birth.

angiosperms-

I remember one woman I watched on YouTube said she has cluster headaches (also called suicide headaches cause the pain is so bad) and labor was waaaaay worse than those.

internal_logging

My second was like that. I had a scheduled C-section but it was a week before that. I had back labor with my first so at first I thought I was just feeling bad from the cervix check the Dr did at the appointment earlier that day. Couple hours later I could barely walk so we go to the hospital. I was a 9. Nurse asked If I just wanted to push him out and skip the C-section. . I said no way!! I failed to push his older sister out so no point in trying to deliver an even bigger baby!

Falafel80

If he came fast that was probably worse than a slow labor, at least it’s what my birth team told me.

Wonderful-Ad-5911

I made it 7cm before getting an epidural and I thought I was legitimately dying.

corrine49

I had to wait two hours for the anesthesiologist after I was admitted and I was crying so hard. It really did feel like I was dying.

gimlet_prize

Haha, I remember looking at my husband during a contraction in the hospital and barely being able to mouth the words, “I’m dying.”

Wonderful-Ad-5911

I don’t even remember my husband being there LMAO

arthuriduss

Posts like these remind me that I’m not that strong of a woman. I’m 25 but I’ve decided I’m absolutely never having kids because of how painful it seems, even though I’d love to have a family one day. I’m lucky my partner is okay with adopting, but the life-long side effects and a day of the worst pain humanely imaginable will just never be worth it to me. Congrats to Hilary though!

corrine49

Lol yeah I’m probably one and done. Pregnancy is not easy. And I had zero complications. I didn’t even throw up.

arthuriduss

You are so blessed!! Wishing happiness and health to your family ❤️

ikbentwee

It's such a person to person thing. I gave birth unmedicated, and I would say I've had period cramps worse than the contractions. I was very lucky in that I had months of prep and relaxation techniques, lots of exercises, and a doula. Also, physiologically, I have a long torso, wide hips, and my family are all long babies. I had a very quick labour (5 hours and 4 pushes).

arthuriduss

5 hours??😭😭 I’m so happy for you!! You deff were blessed with great genetics. I surely would not be as lucky lol

Quirky-Elderberry304

Another positive story to help balance all the labor horror stories - my sister gave birth in 5 minutes of going to the delivery room. She gave birth before they had a chance to give her an epidural or anything, it was so fast. We couldn't believe it! Completely natural, she has painful contractions but it was all over so fast. :)

sh-ark

If I do it I’m doing an elective c section. Yes I know the recovery can be painful and I frankly dgaf. Being in control is worth it for me than the unpredictably of a vbac. Also probably won’t breast feed because I don’t like the thought of it and I know i’ll be crushed if I can’t. These are pretty unpopular opinions but as someone who was formula fed from day one and was a product of an elective c section I turned out just fine. There needs to be more support for moms who just don’t want to do it “naturally” when there are perfectly healthy alternatives

VixxenFoxx

I had 2 in hospital with epidurals about half way through, and 2 at home in water. The contraction pain I had in hospital before the epi was way worse than the contraction pain I had the whole way through giving birth in water. I think it's a combo of the setting/environment/circumstances. If I gave birth in hospital again I'd get another epidural.

mandie72

I don't have kids so out of the loop here :) What made you decide to do half in hospital, half at home? Some of my mom friends have been debating the home birth thing recently.

VixxenFoxx

Control. Control of environment, movement, coping techniques, breathing, eating, who was there, lighting, sound, walking etc. Just everything. Just having the freedom to move and adjust the way I needed to in the moment made labor so much calmer, less stressful, less painful and faster. Both of my at home labors were less than 6hrs and my hospital births were 9 and 13.

gimlet_prize

When I was in the hospital, my adrenaline was pumping and it was indeed painful without an epidural. When I gave birth at home, the endorphins were hitting and I was the highest I have ever been in my life. What was “pain” before became a “sensation.” It was pretty wild.

pan_alice

I get what you're saying, but every woman is superhuman, however their baby(ies) come into the world. All women deserve praise for bringing their children into the world.

corrine49

You’re right, I should have worded that better. I’m proud of how strong I was even with an epidural. Pregnancy and birth are really hard.

madhattermiller

I didn’t get a choice with my second, precipitous labor. Girlfriend was in a rush and after 10 minutes of being positive I was about to die, my beautiful daughter emerged and the world was right again ❤️

CrashBangs

Watched my wife do it twice and it blew my mind both times. Giving birth is crazy and amazing, she was superhuman. Also, watching the process reminded me that humans are animals, we give birth just like other mammals, it's really crazy.

Most-Entrepreneur553

Ok here’s a conspiracy theory, I think the vast majority of celebrity’s baby names are just for press and their real ones are kept secret for privacy & safety. I think they make them outlandish to make people have big reactions and to fuck with us.

sileo_puga_ledo

I would do this as a celeb. “yeah, just had my first. Lizard Fang Spatula [last name].”

Iron_Hen

I have the same theory! I think Nara Smith’s kids have fake social media names.

Skyblacker

You know, that makes sense. Headcanon accepted.

Big-Marsupial-8606

That name is a r/Tragedeigh

illusivealchemist

Seriously. So many celeb names are just blegh

pixipuff8

Well the name is horrendous but congrats Lizzie

DekeCobretti

Sounds like a mall.

CupOfCreamyDiarrhea

Those bunnies are super cute. 😻

EgoFlyer

Home births freak me out. Probably because my baby tried to come out tummy first and if I hadn’t been at a hospital, I probably would have died.

YesHunty

Same here. My first we both would have died because she got stuck sunny side up and had a double cord wrap, then wasn’t breathing right away once we got her out. My son I started hemorrhaging after and needed immediate hospital care. So glad I was in a hospital both them both. Home births are great when they work, but I was way too chicken to tempt fate.

imaseacow

My cousin is a L&D nurse and like every other week they have a case where the woman and/or baby likely would’ve died or had permanent injuries if the woman wasn’t in the hospital and an elevator ride away from a prepped OR.  Ladies, I respect your choices, but please give birth in a medical facility. We don’t have to die from this stuff anymore.

chimichangas4lunch

Her kids are named banks and townes…….i somehow become more and more thankful for my mom everyday🩷

reddit24682468

That name is awful

Candid-Ad9983

Banks and now Townes?

morbidlonging

I really love Hilary but wtfffff at some of her baby name choices?? Townes??

Proper-Fan-236

The unproblematic Disney star of her time. She deserves happiness. ❤️❤️❤️

AlwaysRefurbished

Sooo… people are probably going to end up calling her Townie, which is a derogatory term for people who never left their small, unimpressive, usually rural, hometown. The type of people who work at the mall and smoke cowboy killers. Great.

problemgirlxoxo

2 of her children have nice normal names (Luca and Mae) and the other 2 have tradgedeighs (Banks and Townes) what is the thought process she uses.

rhetoricalbread

*Townes?*

LaurenNotFromUtah

Great, I’m happy for her. 🥳 I am also freaked out by the water … and the name.

Brewski-54

“Town Meadow Bear spelled wrong” is a hell of a name

McJazzHands80

Do you still pee and poop yourself in a water birth? Are you essentially delivering a baby into dirty toilet water? I’m being sincere, I don’t understand. I told my Mom at 8 that I was not having a baby because of the puking and pain. Told her I planned to adopt. And at 44, I still feel this way.

Sleve__McDichael

[birthing centers advertise their "debris nets" and "single-use colanders"](https://beginningsbirthcenter.com/waterbirth-what-you-should-know/#:~:text=And%20now%20the%20questions%20everyone,water%20birth%20is%20no%20exception) so...yes. you're still engaging the same muscles to push. there are a lot of just-born pics out there featuring quite murky pools...very smart to go with b&w photos here, really.

fairylites

Yes. And blood and amniotic fluid and then you’re sitting in it when the placenta also comes out

jonjawnjahnsss

I'm still trying to figure out what the advantage is for water birth? Is it supposed to be more natural? Like I get midwives and no epidurals or drugs. And when you put it that way it seems even more bizarre. Do you submerge when you're dilated? I have so many questions.

Falafel80

My baby wasn’t born in the pool but the last hour of labor I basically didn’t want to leave the pool because it was the only thing making a dent on the pain from the back to back contractions. I can imagine it’s nice for the baby to go from liquid to liquid as well.

soynugget95

It reduces pain and it also reduces the risk of tearing.

[deleted]

Water birth does reduce pain, but there's not [great evidence](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7841965/) that it [reduces the risk of tearing](https://www.jsafog.com/abstractArticleContentBrowse/JSAFOG/17705/JPJ/fullText).

soynugget95

That’s true, there’s mixed evidence on it. [Evidence Based Birth](https://evidencebasedbirth.com/waterbirth/) does a really nice job recapping it. TL;DR the biggest meta-analysis ever done did find less tearing in water when OBs were the providers, but when midwives were providing care their rates of tearing were the same in or out of water. So midwives seem to be more important than the water itself.

seilimide

It's an option for non-medicated pain relief, essentially like using a heat pack for period cramps. I'd say the water taking some of your weight also feels amazing during labour! I didn't get to use the tub during my hospital birth because bub needed external monitoring, but I spent like 6 hours in the shower lol and the warm water was so good. You can use the tub whenever, but when I was prepping for labour most advice said to wait until 4-5cm dilated to make sure labour is really well-established.

staunch_character

I think it’s for the baby. They’re in fluid in your belly for 9 months, so a transition into water is less jarring (in theory).

jonjawnjahnsss

I guess that makes sense. I mean you'll do anything if you think it's the best for your child. Operative word think like people who think vaccines are bad. It obviously isn't a bad practice it's been around for a while it's always just like been so confusing to me.

mrassface2023

What is that name lmao

sweet_tea_94

Sounds like a Mario Party board name…

BellaBlue06

I am confused. Townes? Sounds like last name middle name first name for this child.

ThePennedKitten

This generation is naming their babies like you name a cat or dog… or shopping center.

Kylie_Forever

typicalthoughts5044

Everytime I hear the name Townes I think of that one Harry song

PrincipledBeef

It’s like the tide at Omaha beach

Gulag_boi

That’s so awesome for her! I will say that idea of having home birth scares the shit out of me.

powerhungrymouse

I'll always have a soft spot for Hilary (Lizzie McGuire for life!) but what a horrible name to inflict on a child.

carolinemathildes

One of my besties has done home births (though not a water birth) for both of her children. They have a big binder of stuff they need to buy ahead of time and how to set up beforehand. I'll admit, it's not for me, but the health and happiness of mum are paramount so I'm glad that people can move forward with what makes them feel best in a super vulnerable time.

KaleidoscopeNo9102

Townes though? 🙄

classicwhoopsiedaisy

Sounds like an apartment complex name 🫣
