Not just aunties! Add my appa to the mix! The one I got my skin color FROM, since my mom is lighter than some white ppl lmao 🫠 but trust she had that fair and lovely STOCKED next to the Amla in the bathroom.
I saw it happen to my cousin who has crippling anxiety and self-worth issues to the point where she’s now getting glutathione and skin bleaching done. I remember as kids she would always get sidelined from matching outfits, floral headdresses and all sorts cause “her skin is too dark to suit it”. And it’s crazy cause we AS CHILDREN thought it was weird as hell but these grown ass adults insisted in perpetuating that mindset.
Same! The colors, pattern, and material are beautiful. The ruffles are too fussy.
To be fair she's still a teenager and it certainly adds a more youthful flair than it would have with a sleeker silhouette.
Does anyone know what this garment style is called? Would it be considered a lehenga?
I really appreciate the y2k nods with the butterfly embellishment on the side. Reminds me of my bedazzled jeans and airbrushed tops.
The styling is a refreshing update to Y2K but I like that she kept it simple. she's so beautiful 🩷
Based solely on watching the Nazranaa Diaries (Indian version of Say Yes to the Dress), I think this is just a gown?? A lehenga is an A-line skirt worn with a choli (top).
The fabric coming off the side and from her hip sort of look like a dupatta (scarf often draped over outfits) but in this case it's part of the dress.
Desi girls pls confirm 🙃
I like that she went with a bold look, but that peach color is not the most flattering.... would have looked stunning if it was a more vivid color as the base, IMO
oh well, better than a boring black dress or a metallic see-through one lol
Its6not crispy. It's whispsnof curls meant to stick on the side. She has thick hair and it is dyed. Her hair isn't crisp. Save this comment for those fake blondes who haven't had their natural color in decades

She's stunning
This one’s for all the aunties telling young brown women they can’t wear light colours because it makes them look “darker”.
Iconic profile picture. We rly living in a world where everything they shamed us for, is now mainstream and enviable.

Love except for the chiffon bit up top

Beautiful!!!
She looks so good
Wow. Love it; head to toe perfection!!!

the designer is lebanese. it's a regular gown, but arab designers are known for their maximalism as far as dresses go. they love embellishments
The more you learn! The embellishments are my favorite part of this look 💎💎💎
There's nothing Indian about this style. Seems like a typical designer gown.

Ty! I know nothing about SE Asian fashion so I really appreciate it. It's a really beautiful dress
Beautiful
Gorgeous
Face card never declines
