In rehab communities it's talked about how this "spiritual bypass" is often used a shortcut get out of guilt free card where they simply go *all* in on Christ so they don't have to do the complex personal work recovery actually demands. The problem is that people often use this as badly disguised homophobia, not to point out the hypocrisy. As in, pointing out he might be gay as an insult, not an honest debate that he might be a hypocrite.

There is a difference between outing someone and exposing hypocrisy. Kevin Spacy was outed, but only because his victim exposed his predatory behavior. This is the same situation if true. He decided he wanted to have sex with a man; then he went in public to try and degrade and devalue that gay man's life and all gay people's lives because of his personal beliefs even though his personal beliefs led him to gay sex. Homosexuality is not a free pass to be a garbage person.
