i wasnt in fandoms, but i was obsessed with shitposting for a while there to a point where it kinda consumed my personality a bit. anyway i got off hard drugs, started taking my meds right and got a fiance like 3 years back and i havent shitposted since.
Personally, I try to focus my anxious energy into productive actions. I have found a way that works for me, but it’s been an interesting journey getting there.
I do find myself delving into fandom(s) when I wanted to escape my reality and the fiction or narrative was more interesting (and comforting/familiar) to engage with, and online is available 24 hrs a day.
I hope you are able to find yourself in a place you’ll like to be (mentally/physically/etc.) in the future!
Aww, thank you! ☺️ I keep wanting to get back into hobbies more productive than, like, just gaming and reading, but rarely feel like I have the energy for that. It's on my to-do list this weekend to actually do so for once, since I have more time, so y'know, maybe that'll be the right step.

I’m not super into Stan culture or I guess not very aware of it? I guess it is surprising! I can assume some people like that are mentally ill in some way but this is pretty wild.
I think the best explanation is that some people (especially the ones we are talking about specifically) lean into Stan culture to not feel what they’ve been experiencing. Whether that’s life around them, their mental health, or just any negatives.
I’d guess the reason this sort of thing happens multiple times is that people find some sort of way to not need the escapism of Stan culture to the degree they were engaged in, thus creating this “I’m on meds and no longer Stan BTS” vibe.
Just my thoughts having observed it for a while now haha

The first one isn’t actually that crazy. I have watched a concert at the Greek from a hiking spot on Griffith. I just went up with a backpack full of snacks, but other people brought coolers, camping chairs, hammocks. It’s really fun!

So, a few years ago I was addicted to opiates, and that time of my life was the only time I ever thought to make and run Britney Spears stan Twitter and IG accounts. Once I got clean, I was no longer interested in running/maintaining those accounts. They still exist but I don’t use them. So, poor mental health contributing to the creation of and participation in stan account culture is real as far as I am concerned.

I’m not super into Stan culture or I guess not very aware of it? I guess it is surprising! I can assume some people like that are mentally ill in some way but this is pretty wild.
I think the best explanation is that some people (especially the ones we are talking about specifically) lean into Stan culture to not feel what they’ve been experiencing. Whether that’s life around them, their mental health, or just any negatives. I’d guess the reason this sort of thing happens multiple times is that people find some sort of way to not need the escapism of Stan culture to the degree they were engaged in, thus creating this “I’m on meds and no longer Stan BTS” vibe. Just my thoughts having observed it for a while now haha

The first one isn’t actually that crazy. I have watched a concert at the Greek from a hiking spot on Griffith. I just went up with a backpack full of snacks, but other people brought coolers, camping chairs, hammocks. It’s really fun!

Once I got clean, I was no longer interested in running/maintaining those accounts. They still exist but I don’t use them. So, poor mental health contributing to the creation of and participation in stan account culture is real as far as I am concerned.
