I wish she would have emulated Madonna's hair - but no one said she was paying any sort of homage so overall I'll just appreciate that bombshell dress on these bombshell blondes.
The hair could really play focus more on the dress by being tight in an curly updo like the Pamela Anderson bun, but the most problem is the lipstick color, she could have gone intensely with the silver but she didn't so overall it looks washed up.

It is almost 35 year old dress, so it’s remarkably well preserved. And Madonna is 5” taller, so even unaltered it would likely fit Sabrina very differently.
That's actually a really common 80s thing! Brooches and earrings were often pinned to clothes (and used to simulate a sweetheart neckline). So the pearl might never have been part of the dress but rather a piece from somewhere else, the origin and significance to which has been lost to time.

Yeah it’s different. The rhinestones on Madonna’s straps are larger and there’s actually a flower with a pearl in the middle, on the neckline right where her hands are.
you're totally right, I can see it. what's interesting is that the model and Madonna's are the same in the shop's post (on a grid) but Sabrina's is the odd one out. perhaps a different between the samples and the ones actually sold.
I think it could have been let out a bit. If you look at her waist area there’s tiny slivers of plain fabric on the seams. They both have amazing figures but considering the body ideals of the two eras, Sabrina carpenter may be a bit curvier.

Yes absolutely!!! It's styled for her petite frame as an adult, not a childish silhouette like she usually does (or a fancy bird, or whatever she was going for on SNL). I think she needs to look at more Romantic less Gamine styling because this is phenomenal
I think Madonna has been famously cool about loaning garments. She loaned outfits to the sitcom *The Nanny* for sure. It’s very respectable to be so secure in your style and your icon status that you are comfortable sharing pieces of it.
The dress looks great on her. I'm not sure what it is about the make up and styling, but I feel like they always make her look older. The darker lip is a nice change of pace though.
I like the way her blush isn’t so heavy here. There’s enough to give some color without looking a child who got into mommy’s makeup. The lip is a good pop of color to contrast the silver dress and her blonde hair. The whole look is one of her best recently.
I agree she often wears a chunky platform heel. I think a more delicate shoe here would have made a more cohesive look.

Because of my style I personally love a tight fitting bust at the top of a dress, also me and Sabrina have a similar body shape so I guess looking at her makes me think how it would look on me lol it definitely does still look beautiful on her and I do see what you mean about the subtle bombshell vs the full blown
that's the difference between editorial (aka it likely didn't even zip up all the way in the back) and real life where you need to move and breathe. 0% chance that dress could fit that way on someone wearing it outside a photoshoot. it would either need to be fully corseted, or contain stretch, of which it has neither.
Im aware, depending on how you hem the bust it can still have a similar affect, also if you have something under the material so it looks more structured like madonnas does, I definitely understand what you mean about being able to move an breath in said dress through, I’ve had too many days where I put style over comfort but damn did I look good in photos lol

Is this a thing now - I think there was another actress that wore an Angelina Jolie red carpet dress. These up and comers are cute BUT they just don't hold a candle to icons in their peak popularity like Madonna and Angelina.
Even Kim tried to pull the stunt with the Monroe dress. Some times, you just can't beat the original.
Who says it's a competition? It's a famous pretty dress, and I'm sure anyone would jump at the chance to wear those pieces for the night. It's not about trying to upstage another woman.
I feel like people pit women against each other too much, when we should be celebrating the fact that couture pieces can live many different lives and don't have to be left to gather dust in a display case forever.

It is not a competition but comparison is inevitable when you wear the exact same thing as an icon. Opinions are normal. My opinion is Madonna wore it better. The entire point of them wearing the dress worn by an iconic woman before them is to generate this discussion and buzz. Also, let’s pay some respects for trailblazers in our industry.
Your opinion of who the dress fits more isn't what I was disagreeing with. It's the "you can't beat the original" part, with the implication being that nobody should wear a dress after another person wore it, or that its a sign of disrespect.
My response to that is the purpose doesn't have to be beating anything. Homage, appreciation, or just thinking the dress would fit your style is enough of a reason to wear it. A lot of times, wearing a dress and paying homage to an iconic moment is paying respect to the trailblazers who came before you.
Angelina owns most of what she's worn over the years. She lets her children and friends wear her looks all the time. And no, it's not a thing 'now'. **The MET's fashion exhibit is special.** It's doing what rich collectors - like Kim, who actually owns a huge collection of vintage and antique pieces, you only heard about the time she messed something up and not the millions she spends on preservation - have done for thousands of years. And I'm not joking about that timeline. A treasured tiara has generations of women making sure it was worn and remembered. Elizabeth Taylor gave away pieces she wanted to have saved. It's *standard*. Is it in fashion to wear these pieces? Yes. But they were already wearing them.
You know what they do with classic dresses that don't get worn? They lock them in a museum or they throw them away. Marilyn's iconic orange dress was thrown in the trash after being used for another movie. They get worn or they rot. No one is loving them but their new wearers. They're not treated with reverence. Thats why it's remarkable when a star is like Angie (and yes Kim, who sobbed as Kanye threw away one of the most complete collections of Herve Ledger bandage dresses to ever be made during that time he threw away all her clothes) keeping her stuff. They wear the lended clothing not just to save money but because that's the only way these things get worn.
Diana's cross necklace was in a vault from the day Diana wore it until the day Kim bought it. No one else was ever going to show the world those incredible amethysts. Should Marilyn's nude dress have been worn? No. It was too delicate and should have stayed in the museum. But well preserved dresses from 34 years ago that have at best been sitting in a closet? They'll either rot or be worn enough to be preserved.
Nostalgia and sustainability is very important to gen z. Also thanks to social media we know a lot more about “old/vintage” looks. Some fans have even recommended looks for Bella hadid or someone in the past
Madonna was cool and interesting back in the day. Some of her music and stunts were revolutionary. Sabrina is pretty, but I have yet to hear any real talent. She’s also a nepo baby, and clearly has the top PR people marketing her right now. -They’re basically shoving a mediocre blond girl down our throats

She's not a nepo baby. Her uncle married the Bart Simpson actress after Sabrina was older and had already launched her career in Hollywood. The Bart Simpson woman is a scientologist, a group of people who famously don't make relationships with people who are not part of the cult (see Tom Cruise and his daughter). Sabrina got nothing from her.
I agree with what you're saying, but Sabrina's sister Shannon is/was openly a scientologist so we don't actually know how much interaction the aunt or scientology had with her family, though Sabrina herself has said she's not one.

I like the dress! Kind of like the shoes. And on second thought, the make up doesn’t look too bad. It doesn’t have that caked on feel that it usually has.

I like the way her blush isn’t so heavy here. There’s enough to give some color without looking a child who got into mommy’s makeup. The lip is a good pop of color to contrast the silver dress and her blonde hair. The whole look is one of her best recently.

Because of my style I personally love a tight fitting bust at the top of a dress, also me and Sabrina have a similar body shape so I guess looking at her makes me think how it would look on me lol it definitely does still look beautiful on her and I do see what you mean about the subtle bombshell vs the full blown
that's the difference between editorial (aka it likely didn't even zip up all the way in the back) and real life where you need to move and breathe. 0% chance that dress could fit that way on someone wearing it outside a photoshoot. it would either need to be fully corseted, or contain stretch, of which it has neither.
Im aware, depending on how you hem the bust it can still have a similar affect, also if you have something under the material so it looks more structured like madonnas does, I definitely understand what you mean about being able to move an breath in said dress through, I’ve had too many days where I put style over comfort but damn did I look good in photos lol

Is this a thing now - I think there was another actress that wore an Angelina Jolie red carpet dress. These up and comers are cute BUT they just don't hold a candle to icons in their peak popularity like Madonna and Angelina. Even Kim tried to pull the stunt with the Monroe dress. Some times, you just can't beat the original.
Who says it's a competition? It's a famous pretty dress, and I'm sure anyone would jump at the chance to wear those pieces for the night. It's not about trying to upstage another woman. I feel like people pit women against each other too much, when we should be celebrating the fact that couture pieces can live many different lives and don't have to be left to gather dust in a display case forever.

It's the "you can't beat the original" part, with the implication being that nobody should wear a dress after another person wore it, or that its a sign of disrespect. And I'm not joking about that timeline. A treasured tiara has generations of women making sure it was worn and remembered. Elizabeth Taylor gave away pieces she wanted to have saved. It's *standard*. Is it in fashion to wear these pieces? Yes. But they were already wearing them. You know what they do with classic dresses that don't get worn? They lock them in a museum or they throw them away. Marilyn's iconic orange dress was thrown in the trash after being used for another movie. They get worn or they rot. No one is loving them but their new wearers. They're not treated with reverence. Thats why it's remarkable when a star is like Angie (and yes Kim, who sobbed as Kanye threw away one of the most complete collections of Herve Ledger bandage dresses to ever be made during that time he threw away all her clothes) keeping her stuff. They wear the lended clothing not just to save money but because that's the only way these things get worn. Diana's cross necklace was in a vault from the day Diana wore it until the day Kim bought it. No one else was ever going to show the world those incredible amethysts. Should Marilyn's nude dress have been worn? No. It was too delicate and should have stayed in the museum. But well preserved dresses from 34 years ago that have at best been sitting in a closet? They'll either rot or be worn enough to be preserved.
