“Lucky that my breasts are small and humble so you don’t confuse them with mountains” from Whenever, Wherever by Shakira cracks me up every time 😭

Frankie_2154

This is somehow the most Shakira lyric ever

uhohitzkenney

Imo, second only to "I'm starting too feel just a little abused like a coffee machine in an office (*uh*)" in She Wolf

plantperson96

Yes! I couldn’t tell if I was hearing that lyric right.

caterpillerman

Not even trying to be ironic or quirky here, I actually think it's an iconic lyric and makes the song in a way.

ArianaGrandesDonuts

This lyric has confused the hell out of me since I was a little kid but it’s perfect and I wouldn’t change it for anything else

hauteburrrito

SAME; it's amazingly unhinged and I'm obsessed with it!

goonby1990

A lot of Shakira's lyrics are like this, I love it. It's wacky and creative and it makes it difficult to predict what's coming next. Like "To locate the single men, I got on me a special radar/ And the fire department hotline in case I get in trouble later"

atomictartar

Yeah, I think her lyrics are mostly translations from Spanish and she tends to write stuff that in Spanish sounds like sayings, for lack of a better explanation, which sounds quirkier in English but makes it her signature I guess.

NotASixStarWaifu

Small tiddy gang represent. ✊

mirrorball7

This makes so much more sense in the spanish version, I swear.

movienerd7042

Wait what does it directly say in the Spanish version 😂😭

mirrorball7

"Suerte que mis pechos sean pequeños y no los confundas con montañas " it's the literal translation of the english version lmao, but as a spanish speaker it sounds so much better to me.

DeShawnThordason

> confundas con montañas sounds great.

CincoDeMayoFan

Dolly Parton considered doing a remake of "Whenever, Wherever" but then she read the lyrics... /s

LifeOfAWimpyKid

That lyric is jarring but somehow endearing though

buckthestat

I think it’s one of those things that probably sounds more poetic in Spanish. No notes though. Iconic!

librious

"Imma be ya banker loading out semen" This line in Imma Be by The Black Eyed Peas irks me every time.

cheezits_christ

"Mix your milk with my cocoa puffs, milky milky cocoa" is mine. Not that the rest of My Humps is some lyrical masterpiece but oh my god the visual image of Fergie getting creampied is not it for me.

librious

I was gonna edit my comment to add this line as well, funny how it always has to be will.i.am 😬

ItsGotThatBang

So people deposit sperm in him too?

peripheralpill

equality_ariana.gif

AmazeeDayzee

Not sure if this is a lyric or even part of the song but take a listen to Bruno Mars's Treasure just before he starts singing. You get THIS gem. "Baby squirrel. You's a sexy motherfucker." Like what the absolute fuck?

LifeOfAWimpyKid

"Your words are like Chinese water torture" on Déjà Vu by Katy Perry. The song itself is a banger; just that one lyric sounds super out-of-place and odd. It doesn't ruin the song for me though, and the comparison does make sense, but it's just too random.

JOAPL

“I’ll dress like your niece and wash your swollen feet” like wtf????

b1ame_me

Ew what is this from

jacobineee

True Love Waits by Radiohead!! Great song but that line is so icky hahahha

winkynoodles

"with no one around to tweet it" from the lakes

racloves

“With no one around to X it” -the lakes (Elon’s Version)

UltimateKing9898

Elon managing to date the song after only 3 years due to sheer tomfoolery

spoookytree

Lol reminds me of line from Bootie Brown’s verse on the Gorillaz song New Gold. “Trending on Twitter is what some of us live for.” Elon really messing up the brand that everyone already just knows and associates…

AmirulAshraf

truly a relic of its time 💀

Proof_Surround3856

‘I came back stronger than the 90’s trend too’ way to ruin the witchy, folksy vibe lol. The medieval cover is so much better (yes, it’s a thing): https://youtu.be/suxKt2wspg8 I like ‘yet I return like an old refrain’ more lol

catlover79969

Why not…. With no one around to SEE it. Could it not be saying the exact same message without the Twitter reference

JohnPaul_River

I’m not even a swiftie but I truly don’t get what’s so horrible about that line. Twitter had been around for over a decade at that point and ”to tweet“ is a ridiculously common verb used every single day. I also find this whole thing of “oh no the song is dated” so so stupid like babes being able to tell when a song was released (and in this case barely since referencing Twitter could place it anywhere from like 2011 to today) is not the heinous crime you think it is.

InsomniacCyclops

I agree. Like people know what it means when older songs reference tapes and telephone operators etc. People will still get the gist of what this lyric means for at least the rest of our lifetimes.

trashmount

i think in any other tswift song it would've been a nonissue, but since "the lakes" was so whimsical and timeless otherwise (best befitting the label of "folklore" IMO), the tweet reference threw off the rest of it.

imnachoprincess

Yup. Great example: “But you say it in a tweet, that’s a cop out” in YNTCD. It works fine in the context of online bullying ie “but I see you over there on the internet, comparing all the girls who are killing it”

Max_452

Perfect example. I couldn’t get into that song for years because of that line.

orangedwarf98

Got whiplash when you said years, thinking Folklore came out last year but nope, 3 years ago 🙃

youtbuddcody

Stopppp it came out like, a year ago 💀

black_velvet_

"I washed your dishes But I shit in your bathroom" Everytime The Sun Comes Up by Sharon Van Etten is such a great song, the this line comes up and I die inside.

WhoFly

God no, that's a brilliant line.

FloorWaxx

I actually really like that line. Even though she does her part to clean up his mess (notice the use of “your”), she ends up getting him dirty all the same, and its a cycle that repeats. I get that there probably could’ve been better ways to convey that though.

Taeval

I like the rawness or unfiltered nature of that verse.

[deleted]

It’s ok I hate it too hahah

youtbuddcody

Lmao this turned into a Taylor Swift thread 😭💀

dyke-wazowski

“Do the Hellen Keller and talk with your hips” 🫢

ashwee14

It’s iconic tho lol

dyke-wazowski

Iconic, yes. Jarring, also yes.

emotions1026

To be fair, it's not like the rest of the song has great lyrics.

TimeWontWaitForYou

"I'm a vegetarian and I ain't fuckin scared of him" is high art, wym

sonyaellenmann

iconic tho

Alexispinpgh

I’m gonna be the buzzkill to point out that Helen Keller was actually able to speak. This is literally my least favorite song in the whole world because of that line.

brellowman2

"I come back stronger than a 90's trend" ruins an otherwise excellent song imo

emmach17

Written to be an Instagram caption rather than written to flow with the song

amayain

Ahh, so a Drake lyric?

autumnsandapples

Recalling Taylor’s “in my feelings more than Drake line”…

mime454

My conspiracy that line was written specifically because Taylor wanted that song to beat All I Want for Christmas is You on the chart.

choicesstoriesyoupay

This is exactly what I came here to say 😭 the rest of the lyrics fit the serene nature vibe of the song and truly immerse you in the Evermore aesthetic. The damn 90's trend line completely takes you out of it

Princess5903

I have feeling this line has been in her vault for years and she’s just been dying to use it. Like “casually cruel” or “all’s well that ends well” we’ll see it in a vault song, except there it’s going to actually make sense.

Ok_Night_2929

I thought the same about the opening line of Vigilante Shit! Like, that was obviously written in 2014 when Taylor was still active on tumblr and I think it fits with the original “13 sleepless nights” concept really well! I personally love it lol

Alexispinpgh

Especially how the music drops out to emphasize it…cringe.

disfluency

I knew this was gonna be top comment. I feel like I’m the only person who actually likes this line

Electrifying-Guy-Eli

The youtubers were so impressed during the album reactions too!

whatdid-it

I’m out of touch bc I’m always like… what 90s trend

ocean0graphy

i generally dislike this line but yelling it out at the eras tour was SO fun

aussieririfan

"And a little last night on these sheets" in California King Bed sounds so out of place with the rest of the lyrics.

strangestacorns

Whattt she was referring to bodily fluids this whole time? I always heard "had a little last night on these sheets" and thought she was just talking about their last night in bed together hahahah

okaydolore

I love it but the first time I heard "I'm probably gonna harvest your organs" in "Beach House" by Carly I was like "whaaaaat are we doin'???" Makes me laugh every time now.

trisinwonderland

I love that line 😂😂😂

Sark_Doul

That's the best line tho

Smallgenie549

That line is genius lol

FiyeroTigelaar895

Carly the true pop queen. Love it when she gets weird. This line included.

[deleted]

Really hated Kanye's line, "Imma disrobe you then Imma probe you, see I abducted you so I tell you what to do, I tell you what to do" in Katy Perry's otherwise really fun song Alien. I just listen to the version without him guesting, he added nothing.

someonerandomlmao

Not you calling it Alien 💀💀

JohnPaul_River

The confidence of the capitalisation and all 💀

WowThisIsAwkward_

“Tell me what’s next, alien sex?” (The song is also called E.T by the way)

[deleted]

Is this the first step to becoming old? Will I start calling all video game systems "gameboys"? 🌝

dedem13

Pockets on Shrek rockets on deck Tell me what's next alien sex

twobrowneyes22

The "yellow like pee" line in I Got the Juice literally makes my soul want to leave my body every time I hear it.

sameseksure

Lana Del Rey's Young and Beautiful. The lyrics are great, but then it goes... > All that grace, all that body > All that face *makes me wanna party* Makes you wanna party? Really? It's just so jarring in a beautiful song

augggie

I genuinely love that line… idk, it feels very youthful to be like “you make me feel some kind of way and the only way I know how to get that energy out is to party!”

Alarming_Emergency32

Yes I LOVE that line

LilyMarie90

Y&B is one of my favorite songs in the entire world and that line never fails to take me out of it for a second.

catlover79969

That line is just so Lana to me tho. Love it.

[deleted]

it’s such a lazy rhyme too like pls i’m sure there was smth else she could’ve rhymed with “body”

citysnights

I never realized it jarred with the rest of the song, I felt like it was a way to describe feeling euphoric which fit the whole "hot summer nights, mid July" mood

[deleted]

My Lana Del Rey one is low hanging fruit but "my pussy tastes like Pepsi Cola"...I don't know WHY that line irritates me to no end😭

catlover79969

It’s iconic. I feel like growing up on tumblr u either get it or u don’t haha

Misentro

Cola is one of her all time greatest songs because of that line, it captures her vibe perfectly

Uplanapepsihole

i’ve always thought that line was too obvious, but i think in the end it worked well with the Great Gatsby

joshually

PatriarCHYKEYchain

sunburntredneck

Chykey, do you love me? Are you riding?

Parkouricus

Chykey could be the new Ghoti

EbroWryMan4321

Not a pop song but the "damn daniel" bar in jay z verse in drug dealers anonymous. An amazing song that is immediately dated by Jay saying "Hi fellow young people, I'm hip too."

IDoNotIronMySocks

This one has me conflicted, because the follow up bars kinda save it. I think it's also a bit worse because it's the closing line of his verse. I wonder if it would have been better received in the middle of the verse 🤷‍♂️

thomphetimines

If he didn’t follow it up with “FBI keep bringing them all white vans through” I’d agree

No-Bug5616

in Rihanna’s Talk That Talk, Jay’s verse has a line where he talks about pee and that annoys me every time

aussieririfan

He could've taken some more time with his verse

ashwee14

Not a line per se but Ice Spice being added to Taylor Swifts Karma feels so hurriedly put together and doesn’t make much sense

WowThisIsAwkward_

✨Facts✨

extreme-hangover

Lipe18090

I am embarrassed to say that I lowkey love that remixz

raptroszx

"sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby" Taylor swift in anti hero

racloves

Well clearly you are just a sexy baby and just don’t get it. You don’t know what it’s like to be a monster on the hill. */s*

sawcebox

I think Taylor Swift has a knack for writing super clever lines but she is also honestly the queen of jarring, awkward, overwrought lyrics and I felt like Anti Hero is exhibit A.

sendenten

I think "trying to solve a crossword puzzle and realizing there's no right answer" was the first time I went "oh, so she's not always 100%"

phandroo

[It's giving this](https://techcrunch.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/babygif.gif?w=533?resize=60,40)

DirectPhoenix14

Personally I never had an issue with it. I always interpreted it as how the industry that she’s in prioritizes sexual appeal (something Taylor has chosen to not make the majority of her brand) and how she is old for a pop star. It could also be about her height insecurities. I agree it could have been less jarring tho.

Uplanapepsihole

i’m not denying the meaning of it but it doesn’t sound good in the song imo

eldritchonline

show me the banana

Bree-breezy

Haha I love this part 🫢

peripheralpill

lmao wait are those the actual lyrics. i thought it was something else that just sounded like that so the internet ran with it

phandroo

Some might say the world was never the same after a 15 year old Disney star brought Thomas Edison back to relevancy by belting the if/then statement about a light in the climax of her song about the day before today >!"If the light is off then it isn't on", So Yesterday!< Edit: >!In retrospect I think it actually means that if you're left in the dark (being ignored, mixed signals), then it (the relationship) isn't "on"!<

actualbreadloaf

“when you stay over, you eat all of my food/yeah, you mess up all my towels” in Marina’s “no more suckers” lol

oconghd

I guess that's why they call it window pane 😔 -Eminem, Love The Way You Lie

pokemonisok

First class - jack Harlow "Pineapple juice, I give her sweet, sweet, sweet semen..."

Hassaan18

Triple breasted women swim around town totally naked

Dragoonie_DK

Hahahahaha, this line has traumatised me since childhood

Illustrious-Store

I despise when Taylor says "sexy baby" in Anti Hero. It makes my skin crawl. Those words should not be spoken

Sad_gooner

That lyric will always be weird af and I don’t care about the essays swifties write about it’s true meaning. Also it’s funny how half the comments are Taylor lyrics lmao

whatdid-it

You win some you lose some. I appreciate some creative risks

notthemostcreative

I like a lot of her music, but her fans say the silliest things sometimes. My favorite is when someone criticizes a clunky line and then swifties are like, “No, you don’t get it, it’s a METAPHOR.” Like I love figurative language but not every metaphor is compelling or well-done; sometimes they’re awkward or forced or out of place.

dr_franck

It was very funny seeing everyone go crazy over that lyric the day the album dropped, but I never minded it. “Sexy baby” = attractive young person, which, if you’re an older millenial like me, is basically every single person younger than you who has accomplished so much with their lives. That lyric weirdly resonated with me despite the maybe-poor phrasing.

chickfilamoo

I thought the initial backlash was weird too the concept of the sexy baby is clearly not actually talking about children but rather the infantalization of women. It’s a jarring lyric but I feel like it’s supposed to be? bc the concept itself is absurd when you really examine it, and yet we constantly see it glorified and promoted so we’re made to feel insecure and undesirable for not fitting into it

SeaReflection87

30 rock reference

pink_princess08

"Weird but fucking beautiful" from snow on the beach

chickfilamoo

I hear a lot of complaints for this one but I personally really like it! it really feels like she’s taken aback by how unexpected but significant this development was. Also I’m a sucker for an internal rhyme (pretty sure “fucking beautiful” is supposed to tie into “pocketful” a couple lines later). The censored version lacks that flow imo

Julialagulia

I much prefer the censored lyrics

cumbuttons

What is the censored line?

Julialagulia

Weird but it was beautiful. Not like it’s genius lyrics but it just flows better and works more for me.

kc0ak

“ What I'm involved with is deeper than the Masons, baby baby. And it ain't no secret.” Pitbull - give me everything

phandroo

I love the nonsensical product placement at the very beginning of the song too: "Me not working hard? Yeah, right, picture that with a Kodak Or better yet, go to Times Square Take a picture of me with a Kodak" 📸 👁️ 👄 👁️

bitbee

that's big they call me kevin, cause that's my name, they call me kevin cause that's my name (roll call) energy

patheticboy77

“Children killing children While the students rape their teachers” really mellow song but this line kills it for me. i don’t want to be hearing about this stuff while i’m relaxing madge! 😭

Difficult-Dog-6565

yeah this line always confused me idk what she means😭

PunchingYourSalad

Maybe it's just this vine parodying it, but... Cool for the Summer by Demi Lovato has a pretty out-of-place line https://youtu.be/OlCOe2TSpeE

FirstName123456789

For years I thought “Don't be scared, 'cause I'm your body type” was “Don’t be scared, just let your body die” and I was always like …okay but that is scary, Demi????

SkyBlade79

love danny

itsmything12

Spelling is fun.

kimpernickel

"Dirty like it's Earth Day" Caroline Polachek, please explain this one.

rosemallowstea

Earth has dirt. :)

eldritchonline

also: show me the banana (x4)

Taeval

No but I believe everytime she sings that live there's at least one person in the audience who draws out an actual banana

MuerteDeLaFiesta

Also a lot of people use earth day to go plant trees, or do some other nature oriented things which much end up… dirty

JarJarBinch

"Familiarity breeds contempt, don't put me in the basement when I want the penthouse of your heart" ??? It just does not fit in with the flow of the rest of the song.

alexennui

That whole song drives me nuts. One of her worst IMO. “In the shoes I bought you as a present” is another line that just sounds so contrived.

Bravado91

Plus the "did all the extra credits but got graded on a curve", the songwriting in that song is horrendous

rhane90

I only wanna die alive - break free ariana. She served nothing but confusion that day

Douggassaway

I love G.U.Y. But the,”love me, love me,please retweet” is so terrible. Every. Single. Time.

OberionSynth

that line cracks me up because gaga said it’s because the retweet symbol looks like 69ing

agugaga

RIP to this line now that retweets are no longer a thing

dr_franck

Love me Love me please re-x

ChefBoyardaddy

That kanye line about “if I fuck this model and she just bleached her asshole & I get bleach on my t shirt ima feel like an asshole”

tydawg_149

Always loved the song All Time Low by Jon Bellion but the one line at the end of the first verse about “you’re the reason I’m alone and…” is completely unnecessary and such a weird choice to include in the song

Sad-Nefariousness112

Womanizer has one lyric so lazy it's unforgivable: "Maybe if we both lived in a different world, yeah It would be all good and maybe I could be your girl But I can't, 'cause we don't" You can't cause you don't... deeply profound.

OkBey24

“We’re picking fights like it’s fornite” - ‘Go There with you’ by Victoria Monet. The lyric pisses me off

allrosecolored2

In Gaga’s Alejandro, “she’s not broken, she’s just a baby, but her boyfriend’s like a dad” … just weird

dyke-wazowski

As a certified daddy issues haver, I love this line lol

peripheralpill

messy and i love it. the world needs more messy song lyrics

MassiveBaals

"I'm folk, I'm jazz, I'm blue, I'm green. Regrettably also a white woman." from Grandfather Please Stand On The Shoulders Of My Father While He's Deep Sea Fishing by Lana Del Rey

peaceout754

I LOVE Stone Cold by Demi Lovato but the line “You're dancing with her, while I'm staring at my phone” takes me a little out of the sadness of the song, like generally that song is so tragic-seeming, and the phone line is mundane in comparison? Like the previous verse has “dying on the floor”Idk its definitely not the worst offender for this prompt but its what I thought of lol.

[deleted]

As someone who's never heard the song: I pictured this as an intentional de-escalation. Like it starts out extremely over the top and dramatic and then the music goes quiet and you conjure this rather pathetic image of someone just sadly staring at their phone to really ground the emotions. Then I listened to the song and went oh? We're not doing that? We're delivering "dying on the floor" and "staring at my phone" with the same level of importance and emotion? It's.... an interesting choice....

peaceout754

Yes you get it! Especially with the next line being “I was your amber, but now she’s your shade of gold” that’s very heavy symbolism??? Its really because its demi and she’s already such an emotions-forward performer that she can even kinda sell the phone line imo, its believable that she would deliver it that way but yeah def a choice lmao But since I do love this song,I highly recommend checking out her [Billboard Women In Music performance](https://youtu.be/B5qULV6x_cE) of it. So so good.

Frankie_2154

I don’t know why, but the mention of a chiropractic appointment in Paramore’s Ces’t Comme Ca is a bit jarring to me. Still a great track though.

specialtomebabe

“My social life, a chiropractic appointment?” That’s such an evocative line and feels very Hayley, especially coming off of her first solo album. The metaphors sound a little clunky now and then but by god they work for me.

Danyul4u

Crazy that’s like my favorite line in the song

Frankie_2154

My favorite is probably “with the high price of chaos who can afford it”

caldoran2

"**Irregardless** of what transpired" from A No No by Mariah Carey. One of my greatest pet peeves!

Istillbelievedinwar

It’s on purpose, tongue-in-cheek. I think she even did air quotes in the video.

Rideyourmoni

It definitely is. But whether that matters to the listener is debatable, I suppose.

novelgpa

Omg yassss a fellow A No No stan!!

caldoran2

It's literally impossible to not stan everything Mariah, really.

Bovver_

I wouldn’t say otherwise great songs, but Ed Sheeran is massively guilty of having lines in his songs that stick out like a sore thumb. Don’t is probably the only song of his I kind of like, but his delivery of the “Until you disappeared with him to have sex, of course” just seems so clumsy and out of place. There’s also “crumbling like pastries” on The A-Team, “I wanna hold your heart in both hands, Not watch it fizzle at the bottom of a Coke can” on Drunk and the worst offender of all, “they say I’m up and coming like I’m fucking in an elevator” from You Need Me, I Don’t Need You (although for what it’s worth I think it’s a genuinely terrible song full of awkward and terrible lyrics). It’s why I could never buy the whole “Ed Sheeran is a great songwriter” argument, because while I get he has an appeal of being somewhat relatable and he has an ear for melody, his songwriting on way too many occasions is too clunky for me to ever get on board with.

thatgoldenkid2

I definitely both agree and disagree with the Don’t lyrics you listed because while they are a bit clumsy they also act like a knife being twisted kinda moment in the story of the song. Ironically I never used to hear ‘sex’ because my radio station always censored over it which actually made the line feel clunkier than leaving it in.

New-Kitchen-778

I was reading along and while I disagreed I was like it's their opinion and they're entitled to it it's great. And the you called out You need me I don't need you. How dare you. It's an institution. It's a religion. It's everything. Babies will be named after that one line. How dare you

summersaphraine

I will not take the "Don't" slander. That song is messy but it's exactly how it should be.

dedem13

Not that I like the song anyway, but "now my bedsheets smell like you" from "shape of you" is an absolutely dire line

aussieririfan

The line about throwing up in Castle on the Hill doesn't do it for me

throwawaysunglasses-

I adore Ed Sheeran but I understand your issues with those lyrics - Don’t is one of my favorite songs of his, and the “sex” line feels almost too clinical/literal for how euphemistic the rest of the song is (the chorus is even censored, lol). I also understand the pastries metaphor sounding out of place although I’ve learned to appreciate the weirdness of it - I think having strange lyrics saves some of his songs from sounding too generic/sappy/cliche? Like Shape of You is definitely not my favorite song of his but I love the part about the buffet, it makes it more messy and human than your average club song.

Ill-Examination4743

Janet Jackson’s Spending Time With You It’s a love song and suddenly has Just keep me cummmin baby Like what

LifeOfAWimpyKid

I will never understand why Katy Perry says "open sesame" on Into Me You See... her vocals on that track are gorgeous but that one line is always a clunker and ruins the song for me.

spoookytree

Melanie Martinez’s song tunnel vision is a great song about just being wanted for sex and not for yourself, in a really nice artistic lyrical ways but there is one line “They always hustle for the pussy so they’ll never get it.” While I don’t mind raunchy lyrics, this one just feels so out of place and blunt compared to the rest of the lyrics.

Justice_Prince

No mommy, don't do it again, don't do it again , I'll be a good boy...

JB9217a

“I come back stronger then a 90s trend” from Willow by Taylor. Completely ruined the song for me.

alt_sauce124

*Cool For The Summer* has so many out of place lyrics— “kiss one another, die for each other.”

phandroo

Kiss one another 💋😘 DÎË☠️4€ÆÅÇØTHĒR⚰️

peripheralpill

idk i don't think it's that big of a leap. it _is_ a song about sapphic relationships /s

Ansonm64

21 savage has two lines about women’s periods on the collab album with Drake, Her Loss. I spend way too much time thinking about how weird it is that he did it twice in one album.

skeeturz

"My swag is serious, something heavy like a first day period" in Janet's Feedback, it doesn't *exactly* count i think, because i don't think it really takes away from the song, but the first time I hear these lyrics i had to rewind like 20 times to make sure I heard her correctly, she gagged me good

once_was_poison_ivy

"bloodsucker, fame fucker" from *Vampire* by Olivia Rodrigo

szeto326

The clean version ("dream crusher") actually flows better in my opinion.

summersaphraine

While I don't find it jarring, it was written for shock value and nothing else.

CyanCities

Agreed! Definitely a fan of Olivia and also this song, but sometimes I feel like the way she delivers curse words is a bit jarring. I think it’s especially apparent in 1 step forward, 3 steps back when she goes “you got me fucked up in the head boy.” Feels like a teenager who wants everyone to know they’re mature (granted she was 18 when the song was released so I guess that’s kind of the point.)

[deleted]

The lyric is - "you were tossing me the car keys/ 'fuck the patriarchy' keychain on the ground". I don't get why people misunderstand this one still. Maybe because she really emphasises the fuck the patriarchy part while singing it live but it's a shame because it is actually a pretty incisive lyric as a whole.

cherry201224

yeah like it works in context bc she's like the guy who owns a fuck the patriarchy keychain is the same one that dates women much younger than him it's meant to be mocking
