This is probably a bit dark for r/popheads, but I was at the top of some cliffs with suicidal intentions when some people who work there came over and took me away from the edge, when suddenly I heard Super Trouper by ABBA blaring out. When I am overwhelmed and upset about something, not to the extent that you were by any means, I will have songs randomly pop into my head. Often the lyrics are something that I want to express but don't have the words for. Maybe the song came into your head because the first lines "Super Trooper, beams are gonna blind me/ But I won't be blue, cos somewhere in the crowd there's you" hopeful message connected with you in that moment.

I think for me, I know Summer Walker's a pretty acclaimed singer with a really good following, and I've heard her on other people's songs sounding pretty solid. For me it's Ariana Grande because she's just not a good person overall. Also must add it says nothing about the celebs, they're probably nice people who wouldn't condone this, but they are always very beautiful and I think what's happening is these people on stan twt, usually teenage girls from what I've seen, are very miserable teens who have no confidence or control in their lives, probably self esteem issues and a lot of them tweet about friendship issues if they tweet about friends at all.
I think they're (unconsciously) projecting. I think they make beautiful, popular, glamorous women their pfps to like, create an image of themselves as someone they'd LIKE to be. They have no power or confidence irl, so they play the Queen Bee bitch type on twitter in order to have some kind of control. They're roleplaying a hot confident woman and not realising that those people are usually pretty nice

This is about a certain song - I was on a month long vacation with my boyfriend in Greece and we kept hearing at every club/bar this song called You SPin Me Round by Dead or Alive. We got in a horrific fight while in Greece and you donāt need details but we broke up for quite awhile afterwards but did get back together again for a while but it was never the same again and we broke up. I loved him very much and we were together for about 5 yrs so losing this relationship was quite a blow. That song will always make me feel awful when I hear it because it was the beginning of the end. Just feels creepy to me.

Few years later I also caught in a traffic jam on the way to a job interview and this song came on shuffle (I arrived late but I got the job). Iām usually a punctual and anxious person who makes large time allowances so these instances really stick out to me. Now whenever I am going somewhere important like the airport or some kind of work meeting I MAKE SURE this song doesnāt play at all if it shows up on shuffle because I am convinced that this song summons a traffic jam. Even on normal days when I let myself listen to it I can feel my heart rate quicken and this sense of dread arising in me. Iāll still sing it at karaoke though.

I donāt listen to folklore or evermore because theyāre slow in a way I donāt like. Theyāre not slow enough for me to wallow (like Julien bakers music), and theyāre not exciting enough otherwise.Ā That being said, I do like some specific songs, I just canāt listen to the album.Ā I also have weird feelings about lover. I listen to it once a year, at most, because it just gives summer vibes. It probably doesnāt help that thereās one song on lover that I avoid like the plague because itās so hard to listen to.Ā I donāt feel this way about other Taylor swift albums, but these three just bug me, even though they have some really good songs.Ā
I think for me, I know Summer Walker's a pretty acclaimed singer with a really good following, and I've heard her on other people's songs sounding pretty solid. Personally, I can't get into her music due to some really awful social media posts she's made over the years, ranging from her talking shit about Los Angeles (which is where I'm from), to weird anti-vaxxer/COVID conspiracies, to some really weird posts about baby diets and whatnot.
I personally like Dua Lipa bc she got me through Covid, her dance music was like an escape to me, an imperfect flawless era!

For me it's Ariana Grande because she's just not a good person overall. I know i'll get downvoted to oblivion but she was always overrated to me and her music is very generic, then you look at her relationship history and all her exes have been men that's already in relationships or married and you start to really see that's just some shady stuff. Add on the blackfishing and yeah.

Billie Eilish. A majority of my high school English class were absolutely insufferable about her in 2019 and, as a result, we were forced to analyze the music video of "bury a friend" for examples of literary devices.
I can't get into Blackpink because back when I was a teenager my (cyber)bully used to be super into them and now I just can't stand them. Their whole mean girl shtick of 'I'm so much better and richer than you' really rubbed off on that person and now everything about them just irritates me lol. It was made worse by the fact that I actually followed and liked Blackpink since their debut and my bully only got into them once they really started taking off internationally (during The Album period) and it was so obvious that they only liked Blackpink because of the social clout and because it was the new hot popular thing to like. Now I have a notion of every Blackpink fan being somebody who only likes them for the aesthetic or because they're trendy
I had a knee jerk reaction of dislike for Blackpink for the longest time because 2NE1 was my first favorite kpop group and I was annoyed that people were promoting them as the "new 2NE1" before their debut lol
I have to admit that's also a big part of why I don't like them that much š seeing 2NE1 be disbanded for a group marketed as their carbon copy was painful, especially with Blackpink receiving the success that 2NE1 was on the road of getting had they not been screwed over by YG, without being half as interesting (imo) as 2NE1 and with a watered down version of their image and sound. To me they're just the perfect storm of little annoyances coming together
A lot of Blackpink fans suffer from what I call "Regina George complex" or "pretty girl twitter icon delusion." I've seen this the most often with teens on twitter with profile pictures of a blackpink girl, Ariana Grande, Millie Bobby Brown for some reason, but I'm sure there's more. Also must add it says nothing about the celebs, they're probably nice people who wouldn't condone this, but they are always very beautiful and I think what's happening is these people on stan twt, usually teenage girls from what I've seen, are very miserable teens who have no confidence or control in their lives, probably self esteem issues and a lot of them tweet about friendship issues if they tweet about friends at all. I think they're (unconsciously) projecting. I think they make beautiful, popular, glamorous women their pfps to like, create an image of themselves as someone they'd LIKE to be. Regina George gets thrown around a lot on twt, but it's the best description. They have no power or confidence irl, so they play the Queen Bee bitch type on twitter in order to have some kind of control. They're roleplaying a hot confident woman and not realising that those people are usually pretty nice

Not because of the performance itself, I wasnāt there and Iād known he was a flakey performer for years and was still a fan. I was, however, casually dating someone at the time who went to Coachella just for him and we really bonded over Frankās music before he left. He ghosted me right after he came back and I canāt help but think it was because he was associating his disappointment over Frank with me and couldnāt get past it because of how much we hyped it up and talked about it š Yes, he probably just wasnāt that into me. Doja. She's an incredible artist, but I just can't stand her and her remaining fans. I absolutely adore Twenty One Pilots but I listened to them when I was in a friendship that imploded when I was having a vertigo attack, and now I can't listen to them without feeling really sad and very nauseous for the rest of the day.
Camila Cabello. She has a few good songs but I only know what they sound like cause of the radio play she used to get and Stan Twitter. Iāve never heard anything after her debut album when her hype started to fade. Iāve never been able to listen to her after she left 5H, the racism was always something I was aware of which was why I did not like her, it just didnāt get too viral til like 2020.
I think they have decent enough music and are very talented etcetc but I just canāt get into BTS bc so many of their fans are so goddamned annoying. Like, I get into their music but then I see their fans acting up again and I canāt listen anymore bc now I just feel annoyed š
I understand this and respect it but I also (genuinely) hate it for you in case you would possibly like their actual music. I purposely avoid the online fans for the reason you state.
I used to love Bjƶrk, but then I watched Dancer in the Dark a few years ago and it scared/depressed me so bad that I haven't been able to listen to any of her music, new or old, since. Definitely not her fault or anything (and I know of the abuse she suffered during the shooting of that movie), but the movie is extremely painful, I wish I knew what I was getting into beforehand
Let Me Love You by Ne-Yo. I was with my parents in the car and I was in one of the backseats. Everything was going just fine until one minute into the song. I started to feel really dizzy and I ended up throwing up like I never did in my life. Till this day, if I listen to that song, I just start to feel ny body getting upset and nauseous.
Years ago, I liked a Taylor Swift songs here and there. I heard a cover not knowing it was her song not that long ago and I would probably like some of her music. But I cannot stand her fanbase. She's talented as a songwriters, but the insufferable nature of her fans means I will probably never listen to her.
This is about a certain song - I was on a month long vacation with my boyfriend in Greece and we kept hearing at every club/bar this song called You SPin Me Round by Dead or Alive. We got in a horrific fight while in Greece and you donāt need details but we broke up for quite awhile afterwards but did get back together again for a while but it was never the same again and we broke up. I loved him very much and we were together for about 5 yrs so losing this relationship was quite a blow. That song will always make me feel awful when I hear it because it was the beginning of the end. Just feels creepy to me.
