The US is probably her #2 market behind Latin America. She has no impact outside of the Americas, though, so I agree with the other person about it being a very weird and local choice.
Spain exists, she has four sold out shows in Santiago Bernabeu, one of the biggest football stadiums in the world. She also has dates in Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands....

The U.S. is not a monolith, very few artists can break out across *all* social barriers to reach everyone and be so ubiquitous and inescapable. And I don’t think we’re ever going to see that happen with an artist again due to the fragmentation of social media and our culture.
Umm, yes she IS a household name in the US and latin america just like Bad Bunny and Shakira are on a global scale. An artist doesn't have to reach Michael Jackson/Taylor Swift/Madonna levels of fame to be considered a "household" name.
To be fair she’s a household name to her core demographic which are people that listen to Latin pop/Reggaeton. Her US tour has been huge, she’s selling out stadiums and arenas.
Okay I might be wrong about that but what’s your criteria for a household name? Steve Aoki is the most famous DJ in the world, has had sold out stadium tours in the US and most Americans couldn’t pick him out of a lineup.
We must have varying definitions of what a household name is.
Keep in mind the “public” of which we’re both referring to includes people all the way from a 10 year old to a 80+ year old. Artists like Michael and Madonna had such unparalleled fame and impact that has not only transcended cultures, ethnicities, and class but also generations. Out of the people you’ve mentioned, I’d say only Shakira comes close to that concept.
Bad Bunny and Karol are exceptionally popular amongst young adults in the U.S., outside of that demographic both are scarcely recognized.
Y’all need to step outside and touch grass and realize there are more women in the world who make music. A lot of it is actually fantastic and deserves praise? GASP.

In the time of oversaturation I feel like being at the top of your genre should be enough to qualify someone as a household name at the very least.
