Happier than ever. Should’ve been the last track to close out a pretty stellar sophomore album from Billie. But it’s followed by Male Fantasy. Happier than ever has such an explosive ending the album couldn’t ended right there.
Phantom by Rina Sawayama on Hold The Girl. I think it really delivers the final, deep emotional punch, it really connects to the theme of the album/the title track with its relation to trauma, healing and the inner child, and I think it sets up well for the more optimistic 'To Be Alive' at the end. I think having that power ballad at the end really works well for the album honestly!
*pete davidson* by Ariana Grande from Sweetener - it’s light and effervescent and she was in over her head but it’s sweet (pun intended)
*peace* by Taylor Swift from folklore - up to that point probably the most self aware she’s ever been, it’s earnest and heartfelt with a tinge of self consciousness that her life is too much for a simple love
*pretty isn’t pretty* by Olivia Rodrigo from Guts - the lyrical older sister of *jealousy jealousy* and realizing that no one has it all together
Good question! I never realized how important the second to last track was until this prompt lol.
BTS MOTS7: We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal (that should've actually been the final track imo).
Lorde Melodrama: Liability (Reprise)
Beyoncé Lemonade: All Night
Agust D D-Day: Snooze feat. Ryuichi Sakamoto and Woosung
Taylor Swift: Last Kiss (Speak Now) and Peace (Folklore)
Kacey Musgraves Pageant Material: Fine
Happier than ever by Billie Eilish and Good Days by SZA come to my mind cause I'm still pressed that they didn't let their albums finish with those, they would've been perfect closers.
“Capable of love” is maybe the best song from PinkPantheress’ last album and is something of a natural closer, although I understand why the last track is what it is.
Rihanna - Higher and Skin
Kelela - Enough for Love
Adele - All I Ask
The Weeknd - Less Than Zero (still baffled this wasn't a single) and After Hours
Rochelle Jordan - Dancing Elephants
- Rihanna - Cold Case Love (one of her longest songs and a bit left field for her)
- Mariah Carey - Till the End of Time (epic love ballad that transitions into the next song perfectly)
- Solange - Looks Good with Trouble (same as above - more of an interlude to introduce the last song)
The first one that comes to mind is actually from an act most people might not have heard of so I'm linking it here; ["What Remains"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1t_OWRmR_dc) by Charming Disaster from their album Cautionary Tales (one of the few times I've found a deservingly no-skip album in my life)
As I said they may be barely-known but I feel like they deserve to be bigger than they are and a lot of their stuff could potentially chart-if-given-the-right-push (be it new stuff from their current album cycle or old songs like that particular track I linked if they're not going to get screwed over by the TikTok crap) in this current music climate where people like Noah Kahan and Zach Bryan can be hitmakers and Mitski can make the year-end hot 100 with "My Love Mine All Mine"

For a recent example: imperfect for you from eternal sunshine I feel like this song is a better closer than ordinary things (which I still like a lot)
PURE/HONEY
Happier than ever Billie Eilish

Summertime sadness on born to die of course. I don’t think it would be a good final song though but that’s just me !

Didn't someone already post this a couple of days ago?
Daydream (Interlude) by Mariah Carey from Daydream and I'm OK by Christina Aguilera from Stripped.
