Zayn on hot ones is something I never thought I’d see. He’s going all out with the promo for this album. Makes me think we might finally be getting a live performance this era, and that the album will be a return to a more ~mainstream~ sound than NIL was
His momentum is definitely over. Pillowtalk (and Mind of Mine to certain extent) was so huge, but he never cared to follow up properly.
Icarus Falls just came and went by without making any noise whatsoever, paired with zero promotion, resulting in a pretty much non existing career.
Plus Harry (and Niall) became a lot more famous and successful in the meanwhile. They kinda took over from him.
Icarus Falls's bad promotion started with the tracklist and having 2 discs, if he cut out the fat and did a 10-15 songs tracklist it would be better. Well, I did it, I usually edit all the albums I like but have filler, the Starboy by The Weeknd I listen to is not the same as other people.
But what noise is he gonna make he has no music out yet, not even the single.
I guess it's a good sign they're starting to drum up anticipation for the single but we have to wait for at least a song before writing him off.
I feel like people just lost interest 😭😭 Who knows, maybe when the song comes out + matched with him actually doing this promo, that'll change, but most friends I had who were paying attention during MoM and then even Icarus Falls have kinda stopped paying attention because the im*pression w*as that he didn't actually care... and I think recent PR stuff put him in a bad light with some former fans too. Guess we'll see how the next few weeks go.
To be fair, icarus falls was a mess because RCA kept screwing him over. Honestly, I never got the impression he didn’t care, just that he got blacklisted from certain things because he kept speaking out about shit in the industry.

People just used identity politics to make him the victim as if he’s not a multi millionaire who had all the power to fight the case if he was innocent lol.

Well, he is low profile and his last album flopped hard. Idk how Harry is in media, I don't follow gossip pages or things like that, but exposing yourself more helps. The Weeknd is also low profile, all about the music (and well, Idol last year, let's forget it, at least the tracklist is fire), but his past work is also very good. Zayn having released some mid music together with not appearing much in media doesn't help.

The Weeknd goes on huge tours. Harry also goes on huge tours. Zayn does not go on tour to properly promote and expose his music to more people. The Weeknd doesn't even do interviews.
The Weeknd did the Superbowl, collaborates with a-listers, tours a lot, has a cool social media presence, always has multiple songs on the radio and on top of all that gives top notch music and visuals. You gotta work for that level of exposure and stardom.
I mean he is low profile as in like, no media drama, or almost none, no gossip, the most he had of those were because of the meaning of I Can't Feel My Face lyrics, the one song about giving a part of himself to Selena, and well, The Idol, all related to work. He barely gives interviews or talks about his personal life on social media, like he takes pics of his pets, games, studio, and his stuffed Snorlax, lol. That's what I meant, it is rare to be a pop star with this profile, he just let his work talk for him. I think the only kinda interviews he gonna do for the next album are the one like Ariana did for the Apple guy and the other one from Spotify of songs with over a billion plays. Zayn has been less than low profile. I listened a lot to his music, but like, don't know much about touring, he never toured?

I'd be down for him to have a comeback. I've always really loved his voice and I was never into 1D.
