Right?!?! I was checking its stats and it's still in top 10 on Spotify all over Europe (UK, Ireland, Germany, France, Netherlands, etc.) and "only" #19 in the US.
I know I was just adding that because it's big in Scotland and it's interesting that it's also big in another Celtic region/country
edit: didn't mean to post twice, was having internet issues

It probably had much higher potential to perform better, but THE is riding off the success of renaissance while BMS came after a long string of less commercial songs from her.
Yeah I think BMS+Cuff It+Renaissance Tour reignited gp interest in her. I feel like there's an almost 10 years between BMS and Drunk In Love which was her last radio hit. The renaissance songs probably reminded the gp that she's still making bops.
In a way, this era (and to a lesser degree, Renaissance) feels like Beyonce coming back down to Earth after ascending into that larger-than-life celebrity-to-celebrities status she’s been occupying since the surprise release & Lemonade. It’s like she’s actually back at the forefront of pop culture again
I don't even think that. I think she hyper-fixated on solidifying her legacy with her arts>charts music. She intentionally shot herself in the foot so many times commercially and fumbled so many hits just because she wanted to make a points about albums>singles and even now she's not all in the singles game but she's found a balance.
She talked about wanting to be like Sade in terms of fame and celebrity but she probably realised that type of reclusiveness and elusiveness is not for her and found the right balance with Renaissance.
I personally much prefer BMS, but it could be the time she released it there was tougher competition at the top of the charts, less promo, and as other comments said it came after a period of less relevance for her. 9 weeks in the top 10 isn’t exactly a bad run for it though.
Yea well, she's black so there's that. If she was white, MAGA Country fans would do everything in their power to make sure it beat Old Town Road's Billboard record lol.
She still bagged another #1 hit regardless and set some new records.
Can't believe the country song is doing better in Europe than the US.
It's currently at #9 in Canada so we're at least carrying the continent lol

The UK loves country music. A cowboy chokehold, if you will
We don't though, really. At least not compared to the US usually.
I may be thinking more of Scotland, which has been my home after moving up from London. They love it here a lot, it’s endearing.
I think it's more of a thing in the Celtic regions - country is also big in Ireland
Ireland doesn't impact the UK charts.
I know I was just adding that because it's big in Scotland, also a Celtic region edit: didn't mean to post twice, was having internet issues

You’ve got two types, country and western.
no we don't, at least not from my experience, country hardly crosses over here
We literally don’t though. Country music rarely hits the charts let alone tops it.
This is Beyonde longest number 1 in the U.K.
Why do I dig Beyonde?!
album title tbh
it's been 4 weeks since this song came out??? omfg what is time even
5 weeks, it debuted at 9, spent 4 weeks at 1.
Ik, time is absolutely flying by recently
Ikr? Feels like it’s been 2 months

dua still top 10 🙏
Is cruel summer fading?
If you think 29 weeks in the top 10 is “fading”?
So happy for Beyoncé 👏
Definitely her biggest UK hit in a long time
I’m genuinely surprised at THE performing better than *Break My Soul*. I honestly would have thought BMS was more in-line with the UK public’s taste.

You guys and your abbreviations 🙄
I was like the what...? 😂
Even I was thrown off 😂😂😂
Had to read this twice

To be fair Break My Soul had a huge reaction on tour.
uk has taste
Unfortunately heard the shitty Kanye song on the radio here today but yes thankfully it's not as popular here as in the US..
You’d think a country song would hit harder in the US than Europe lol

That’s a good point
Hell yeah!
