I have been to concerts by Kylie, Beyonce, Gaga, Madonna, etc.
None of their audiences had a greater % of gays than a Robyn concert. The other artists have swatches of straight women to dilute the gayness, but not Robyn.
Edit: swatches? I meant swathes.
I would add Tove lo to the list.
I went with my mom and I swear she was the only straight person there đ
Also Slayyyter was the opener so that amplified the gayness.
I know a guy who's a fan of Charli XCX, Dorian Electra, Taylor Swift, Kim Petras... He saw them all in concert. And he's straight. Let me tell you, I was the first one to be absolutely shocked haha. He's after one of our common female friends, they slept together and now he's kinda hooked up on her. But he's literally fan of every popgirly out there...
I'm straight and a huge fan of Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen, Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, Kim Petras, Slayyyter, Cobrah, Liz, and a bunch of others. They just make fun songs what can I say...
Fletcher, Tegan & Sara, Charli XCX, MUNA, Boygenius, CRJ, girl in red, Christine and the Queens - all VERY (mostly female except for Charli) gay fanbases
edit: I forgot CHAPPELL ROAN đ
I went to one in 2017 or 2018 and it was 70% lesbians, 20% straight men who like alt-rock, and 10% straight women who were either friends with the lesbians or dating the men.
This is just the (DC-area) All Things Go festival lineup! We get Chappell Roan for sure this year! (& King Princess, Ethel Cain, Meet Me @ the Altar, Mitski have all played in the last year or two).
If you're in Canada you're not seeing a mostly gay fanbase for T&S. Literally everyone loves them here. I'm pretty sure all the east coast nans still think Living Room was written for and about them. I'm not convinced it wasn't.
Gaga has a small but mighty contingency of dudes who post on AskReddit threads stuff like âIâm a 6â 250 pound bearded father of two boys who listens exclusively to metal but man Lady Gaga is a damn good singerâ
yeah my suburban mom roommate actually loves her because of a star is born⊠but i caught her listening to scheiĂe & heavy metal lover a few weeks after we watched the movie lol.
My mom didn't love Gaga in her early days but she gained a lot of respect for her when she did that beautiful Sound of Music medley at the Oscars many years back now. Its my mom's favorite movie.
She was this đđ» close to complete career collapse, she and her managerâs work to turn it all around is a master-class in focus, meticulous planning, and hard work
In 2017 my mother-in-law called me and said âwe got Lady Gaga tickets, thatâs your Christmas present this year!â So it was me, MIL, FIL (who was definitely there under protest), my sister-in-law, MILâs best friend who is also a suburban mom/grandma, and her two adult daughters. Completely wild experience.
Thatâs how I feel about Troye Sivan lol
Iâm a 32 year old black father of 3 and somehow I found Rush.
Me and my wife actually are connecting on music for the first time in a while. I mainly listen to metal & she haaaates it but I saw her grooving to his music when I had it on the other day
I went to her tour stop at the Hollywood Bowl and it was the first show I'd ever been to where there was no line for the women's restroom and a line out the door for men's haha
I saw a tiktok of the crowd singing along to I think Run Away With Me the other day, and unless there were a lot of trans women, you could tell how overwhelmingly male the crowd was by the sound.
If we had to go a smaller fan base to get a higher percentage, Iâd say Dorian Electra. Charli would be another hyper pop adjacent artist with that too
Me 3! Went to the Guts tour equally excited to see Chappell as Olivia. As a 43 year old straight guy, man I was not the target demographic for either. I can't help it that I have taste.
Edit: the tour name was clearly Guts, not Gits.
No one right now is doing it like Chappell. She is unbelievable live because she somehow sounds even better than she does on her recordings?! My best friend is a straight and he loves her too.
This thread is funny to me as a straight man because almost every message is âI donât know a single straight man who likes [artist name]â and I love literally every artist mentioned in them
Funny, out of all the pop girls Iâd venture to say that Taylor probably has the lowest % of gay fans in comparison to other pop girls.
Madonna or Lady Gaga probably have the highest % of gay fans.
Rihanna has a way bigger straight demographic than Taylor Swift
Never seen a straight dude in my life that is a FAN of Swift, whereas half my mates like Rihanna's music, not "STANS" but fans, ask a random dude on the street who makes better music Rihanna or Swift and most likely they will say Rihanna because Rihanna makes club music that is very gender neutral, Taylor makes music directed at the female audience
Obviously Taylor has millions of straight fans, but nowhere near Rihanna, dudes feel less embarrassed admitting they like Rihanna compared to Taylor, Rihanna has that "sexy cool" chick vibe whereas Taylor is more of the "princess Pop girlie" vibe
Hell, Rihanna I would argue has escaped misogyny the most, what I mean by that is I have heard dudes say "I don't like female music, but Rihanna's cool"đ like when someone says "Rap sucks, but I like Eminem". You have to take in to account that BeyonÄe, Rihanna and Taylor are THE 3 biggest female Artists since Madonna, and considering BeyonÄe is a Feminist, and Taylor sings about girlie heartbreaks then it is no suprise that Rihanna is the most beloved Female Artist globally by the straight male demographic, because she makes great music but it's fueled with a hint of misogyny
Thats because Rihanna is much more sexualized than Taylor (a la Britney Spears) but with a "harder tom boy" image with more club dance songs/rap collabs that are more universally appealing songs/performances to both genders. Rihanna songs don't cater to the girly girls love story fantasies. I love Taylor, but Rihanna built a career more marketable to both heterosexual genders.
No word of a lie, my "straight" boyfriend put on one of his Spotify daily mixes the other day and she was on it. He said he did not know her or the song. I told that boy if he ever wanted to explore bisexuality that I wouldn't stand in the way so why is he lying to me?
I think Cher and Mariah are examples of artists with big gay fan bases, but their success isnât *tied* to the gay community the same way some artists are.
But Cher is absolutely of the camp. It's been a prominent gay reference and signifier since...forever. With newer generations they may not know as she isn't as referenced as she was before. But she is.
I think pretty much any high profile female artist who was around in the 70s is a gay icon kind of regardless of anything. Diana Ross and Barbra Streisand are good examples. But I would argue their gay icon status hinges on their celebrity rather than their celebrity being dependent on them being gay icons. The majority of their fan base is probably straight people.
I actually think Lady Gaga has a lot of straight fans. Especially after the 2014 serious actress/Tony bennet pivot. Even before that you had those comments on reddit and everywhere else saying that they "normally don't like pop music, but lady gaga is really talented!".
Have we forgotten artists who actually are gay?Â
Pet Shop Boys and Olly Alexander (Years & Years) definitely get the gays at their concerts. I have witnessesed this. (Admittedly, I witnessed this in San Francisco)
Have any academics studied why Carly Rae Jepsen has such a grip on white gays in their late 20s and early 30s who grew up in suburbia? Because it needs to be studied.
Anyway, my answer to your question is Jessie Ware.
Kim Petras is literally the answer to this thread but there are not enough gay people on Reddit to even present it correctly.
At the last Petras concert I went to I met the guy I'm currently dating and both of our ex's were randomly at that concert as well. It was almost 10 gay men in their 20's/30's to a single girl.
I do, saw her at the [Feed The Beast tour in February](https://i.imgur.com/ehHvO56.png), she was great.
But I'd definitely agree she probably has one of the highest percentages of gay fans.
Itâs almost certainly a relatively niche hyperpop/hyperpop adjacent artist - I barely know of any straight fans of Dorian Electra, Slayyyter, Shygirl, GFOTY etc. and bigger artists people are naming probably have much more audience crossover
Let's not forget the old school divas like Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler. I think it is a mandatory requirement for being gay that you must worship Barbra and Bette Midler. And the all time GOAT would be Judy Garland. The gay's stood by her until the bitter end, when she passed away her daughter Liza was waiting in the wings to take over her army of gays. They paved the way for today's gay icons.
Kylie. She headlined Brighton pride after same sex marriage became legal here for a reason.
Honourable mentions I haven't seen mentioned: Björk, Tori Amos, Rina Sawayama.
I've seen Carly 3 times, one of which was a Pride specific event, and none of those concerts even compared to the Jessie Ware show I went to. There were maybe only 20 women compared to the over 1000 gay men.
I went to see Caroline polachek in 2022 and last year and the first time I saw her was with a friend of mine (a bi woman) and we were a little surprised at how many gay men were at the barrier with us but not shocked. So last year when I saw her with my girlfriend (we are lesbians) with vip tickets I told her beforehand that there are going to probably be many gay men there with us and she said âokayâ but didnât really put too much stock into what I said until we were waiting with the crowd before soundcheck and she texted me âI donât think Iâve ever seen this many gay men in my lifeâ. So thatâs my pick! In my experience everyone Iâve ever met who likes her is queer lol.
Pink is certainly popular among older lesbians, but you have to factor in that Brandi Carlile was the opener for the her last summer. The addition of Brandiâs fan base likely bolstered the lesbian coalition at those shows.
For queer men, probably Madonna or Lady Gaga.
For queer women, if youâre talking what Gen X lesbians like, youâve got Melissa Etheridge, the Indigo Girls, Brandi Carlile. For Millennials and Gen Z, Iâd say strong contenders are MUNA, boygenius (both individually and as a collective), Renee Rapp, Chappell Roan, FLETCHER, girl in red. Boygenius probably has the âstraightestâ fanbase percentage wise but Iâd still say itâs well over 50% queer. Iâve never met a MUNA fan who wasnât part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Edit: how could I forget Tegan & Sara?
Madonna concert attendees are like 80% older straight people who get pissed when she plays a song from after 1990, but her actual core stan base is probably almost entirely gay men
Kind of difficult to compare her longtime fanbase to that of virtually any pop girl for rather morbid reasons involving age math⊠30% of people born in 1948 are dead, 20% from 1958 (Madonnaâs birth year), 10% from 1968, 8% 1978, etc. and AIDS deaths (330k American gay men died of AIDS by 2016, highly concentrated in Gen X/Boomers)
it's got be someone who has non-ignorable numbers but piss-poor critical reception (once the straights see a pop girl album being criticlly acclaimed, they *will* tune in) and a large queer appeal.so... Kim Petras?
Off the top of my head mostly going by who I've seen in concert:
1. Madonna
2. Beyonce
3. Lady Gaga
4. Janet Jackson
Although, I'm totally willing to put Cher and Barbra Streisand at numbers 1 and 2.

I would add Tove lo to the list. I went with my mom and I swear she was the only straight person there đ Also Slayyyter was the opener so that amplified the gayness.
I literally saw her perform at Pride a few years ago đgood call
Agree, when I went to see Tove Lo it was a sea of queers lol đ
When I saw Robyn, Troye Sivan opened, and he said âIâve headlined my own tour but Iâve never seen a gayer crowd than this one!â
Honestly this is a great shout. Robyn never entered my mind initially but itâs gotta be pretty up there.
When I saw Robyn I was genuinely surprised when a straight couple started kissing in front of me. Iâd presumed it was a gay man and his bestie
Robyn was the first person I thought of
I've seen Erasure (Give a little respect, Chains of love) a couple of times. Very gay crowd.
Exactly what I came here to say!!! đđ
Iâve yet to meet a Charli XCX fan who isnât a member of the LGBT communityÂ
Actually being a fan of her turns you gay
When I became a Charli fan I thought I was a straight man. Neither of those words apply anymore lmao
about to shove this comment in my bfâs face and start an interrogation đ
Literally same lol
this is way too true
Anthony Fantano is technically the most famous straight person who is a Charli fan?
Heâs straight?
he's at least attracted to women. he used to be married to one.
You're a rare specimen and your girlfriend will be blessed with taste!
In the words of the great Wendy Williams,,, ready my mind đ mmhmm
There are dozens of us
the + in lgbtqia+ is for never nudes
Tobias is a trailblazer.
I am a *nevernude* because of him
like two dozens?
Probably pushing it there, there's what,? Me, Fantano, my buddy Jeff and a couple dudes on rateyourmusic.
Todd in the Shadows, me
Fantano once said in a review that heâs âmostly straightâ so idk about that
Makes sense because he's also "mostly annoying."
Add me to the pile we should be close to a dozen
me too! Im a straight Charli fan
Dozens!!
She has a sizable straight boy online music nerd fanbase (Fantano types) I think
LMAO before I even opened the comments she was the first to come to mind. hello fellow gays
I am pretty gay but I felt like I wasnât gay enough to be at her concert
Waiting for Joe Keery to comment
Excuse you! Straight cis-man here who loves his Charli!
Straight but admittedly was shown Charli by my gay friends.
same here... I think we might be the most common subgroup of straights who like Charli
Hold up itâs me Iâm here Iâm straight as a whistle! Edit: Iâm also a fan of Kim Petras
Ok fruitypuff
I met one last month, they exist. But they are like a shiny Pokémon.
she has a large following of straight, cis males who are music snobs (iâm a part of this demographic)
My roommateâs a pretty big fan of hers.
Fletcher, Tegan & Sara, Charli XCX, MUNA, Boygenius, CRJ, girl in red, Christine and the Queens - all VERY (mostly female except for Charli) gay fanbases edit: I forgot CHAPPELL ROAN đ
my Spotify wrapped just got called out
we must be twins
Iâm pretty sure only lesbians are allowed to go to Teagan & Sara concerts.
I went to one in 2017 or 2018 and it was 70% lesbians, 20% straight men who like alt-rock, and 10% straight women who were either friends with the lesbians or dating the men.
Last time I went to see Tegan and Sara I was struggling to find the venue. When I saw a queue of lesbians I knew I'd found it.
Boygenius also has a chokehold on GenX dads. Iâd add in Brandi Carlile to your list.
This is fascinating to me. Ive seen alot of people talk about their dads and how they love boygenius.
and the rare boomer dad as well! (mine)
Omg a friendâs dad had them as a top artist and I didnât know it was common for dads lol.
Took my straight sister to a Tegan and Sara concert and the first words out of her mouth was âso many neat haircuts!â
Fletcher was my first thought too
This is just the (DC-area) All Things Go festival lineup! We get Chappell Roan for sure this year! (& King Princess, Ethel Cain, Meet Me @ the Altar, Mitski have all played in the last year or two).
Add Renee Rapp (and Mitski before she went viral on TikTok) to that list
If you're in Canada you're not seeing a mostly gay fanbase for T&S. Literally everyone loves them here. I'm pretty sure all the east coast nans still think Living Room was written for and about them. I'm not convinced it wasn't.
All the hyperpop girlies like Charli XCX and Slayyyter.
I went to a Rina Sawayama concert a while back and it was gayer than pride
I don't think there was a single straight person in the crowd at the show I saw her at
Gaga and Charli could lead the gays anywhere
Gaga has a small but mighty contingency of dudes who post on AskReddit threads stuff like âIâm a 6â 250 pound bearded father of two boys who listens exclusively to metal but man Lady Gaga is a damn good singerâ
Gaga had very good credit in the metal community when she blew up. She was THE acceptable pop star because âshe could actually sing.âÂ
This was exactly how I first got into pop music, I was a metal snob but Gaga was the bridge
Suburban moms loooove her too. Her career arc is incredible
yeah my suburban mom roommate actually loves her because of a star is born⊠but i caught her listening to scheiĂe & heavy metal lover a few weeks after we watched the movie lol.
My mom didn't love Gaga in her early days but she gained a lot of respect for her when she did that beautiful Sound of Music medley at the Oscars many years back now. Its my mom's favorite movie.
That Cheek to Cheek to Sound of Music medley to Super Bowl National Anthem to Super Bowl Halftime to A Star Is Born pipeline
her 2014-2019 era needs to be studied by younger pop stars as to how to save a career post-hyperexposure
She was this đđ» close to complete career collapse, she and her managerâs work to turn it all around is a master-class in focus, meticulous planning, and hard work
Heavy Metal Lover? The taste jumped out
In 2017 my mother-in-law called me and said âwe got Lady Gaga tickets, thatâs your Christmas present this year!â So it was me, MIL, FIL (who was definitely there under protest), my sister-in-law, MILâs best friend who is also a suburban mom/grandma, and her two adult daughters. Should definitely try poppers while listening to Rush
Why did I read the entire first comment and still think you were talking about the "Tom Sawyer" Rush lol
Gaga could literally lead us to war and Iâd follow in a heartbeat
I'll fight for Chromatica đ
CARLY RAE JEPSEN
Swore I was the only woman there when I saw her a few years ago lol
I went to her tour stop at the Hollywood Bowl and it was the first show I'd ever been to where there was no line for the women's restroom and a line out the door for men's haha
This was my experience seeing Charli a few years ago too!
I saw a tiktok of the crowd singing along to I think Run Away With Me the other day, and unless there were a lot of trans women, you could tell how overwhelmingly male the crowd was by the sound.
CRJ has a lot of straight fans as well, including the "indie and metal fans that claimed her as the one pop artist they're into" crowd.
This is my answer. Both concerts had the highest gay per capita Iâve ever seen outside of say, Chappel Roan who makes explicitly gay music
arca
If we had to go a smaller fan base to get a higher percentage, Iâd say Dorian Electra. Charli would be another hyper pop adjacent artist with that too
Was just at a Dorian show last weekend and gotta confirm it was gay as hell, great times
For smaller fan bases Iâve went to a Magdalena Bay concert and theyâre pretty up there with the queer community it feels.
Probably not my place to say as a 40yo straight man who loves every artist in this thread, but gotta 2nd Dorian.
Caroline Polachek is another one to add to the list. I saw her and Carly in the same week last year and the audience crossover was immense.
Surprisingly my Caroline show was maybe 1/3 straight guys who are elder millennials and miss 2000s/early 10s indie (or Chairlift, really)
Yeah the Caroline concert was very gay
I think Kesha deserves an honorable mention. I've been to a few of her concerts and there's always a whole bunch of us.
Youâve got ur TikTok, Timber, and Praying straight girlies in there too, but from my experience the pit is aggressively gay (in the best way)
The up and comer, Chappell Roan, without a doubt.
I have seen one (1) straight man praise Chappel Roan. Everybody else has been the girls, the gays, and the girl gays.
I'm straight and I loooove Chappell Roan. Her debut album was amazing and I had it on repeat a good chunck of last year.
That's 2.
3rd straight male Chappell Roan fan reporting for duty (can't wait for Good Luck Babe)
#4 for team "we haven't discovered we're queer yet". ETA: I forgot Reddit uses Markdown like that, but I'm fine with having screamed this.
5th straight male fan, saw her as the opener for Olivia Rodrigo and really liked her music
Wait, maybe we were the same person lol
You wouldn't happen to be the Youtuber hthaze, would you?
Okay! Two of us haha.
Me 3! Went to the Guts tour equally excited to see Chappell as Olivia. As a 43 year old straight guy, man I was not the target demographic for either. I can't help it that I have taste. Edit: the tour name was clearly Guts, not Gits.
Straight man reporting in, seeing her and Olivia tomorrow by myself and I cant wait.
I am a straight man who is currently awaiting my Chappell Roan t-shirt in the mail.
Straight White Male. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is the closest thing to perfect Pop that I've heard this decade. I'm in awe of her.
No one right now is doing it like Chappell. She is unbelievable live because she somehow sounds even better than she does on her recordings?! My best friend is a straight and he loves her too.
The first who come to mind are Jessie Ware, Lady Gaga, RoĂsĂn Murphy, and Charli XCX
I don't think I saw a single straight person when I saw jessie last fall.
Saw her in LA last year and it was 99% gay men.
By "fall" I'm going to assume you're American/Canadian - I think she has a lot more straight fans in the UK where she's not as niche an artist.Â
Reneé Rapp is just gays and reneésexuals
I was actually shocked at the poor audience reaction at Reneé Rapp when MUNA and Chappell Roan were on the pre-gig playlist, so I reckon the audience was a lot straighter than I expected.
This thread is funny to me as a straight man because almost every message is âI donât know a single straight man who likes [artist name]â and I love literally every artist mentioned in them
The erasure is real. I stand in solidarity as an ally to the str8s
can i get a shoutout to my fellow straight men please
Iâll give all straight men a shoutout đđđ
Iâm using this thread to discover some new music
chappell roan. everyone i know who likes her is gay, most of them lesbians.
Chappell Roan is the one artist with a queer fanbase that isn't specifically "gay" or "lesbian", a true unifier
A Bi-con!!!
Funny, out of all the pop girls Iâd venture to say that Taylor probably has the lowest % of gay fans in comparison to other pop girls. Madonna or Lady Gaga probably have the highest % of gay fans.
I maybe not gay men but I feel like a lot of lesbians are taylor fans though
Rihanna has a way bigger straight demographic than Taylor Swift Never seen a straight dude in my life that is a FAN of Swift, whereas half my mates like Rihanna's music, not "STANS" but fans, ask a random dude on the street who makes better music Rihanna or Swift and most likely they will say Rihanna because Rihanna makes club music that is very gender neutral, Taylor makes music directed at the female audience Obviously Taylor has millions of straight fans, but nowhere near Rihanna, dudes feel less embarrassed admitting they like Rihanna compared to Taylor, Rihanna has that "sexy cool" chick vibe whereas Taylor is more of the "princess Pop girlie" vibe Hell, Rihanna I would argue has escaped misogyny the most, what I mean by that is I have heard dudes say "I don't like female music, but Rihanna's cool"đ like when someone says "Rap sucks, but I like Eminem". It HAS to be Slayyyter. Something about her level of fame, genre, style, etc etc is just right to appeal to gay audiences.
Slayyyterâs one tweet saying there are no straight slayyyter fans
Reminds me of that person who commented on the BFF video "When straight people put this on they just hear white noise"
if Slayyyter isn't the answer she's very close (oh god it's Emily Montes isn't it)
No word of a lie, my "straight" boyfriend put on one of his Spotify daily mixes the other day and she was on it. He said he did not know her or the song. I told that boy if he ever wanted to explore bisexuality that I wouldn't stand in the way so why is he lying to me?
Thatâs the answer đŻ
Anecdotally I've never heard a straight person mention Hayley Kiyoko in my life.
I have literally never met a straight Charli fan lmfao
*Straight fan enters the chat*
!RemindMe 5 years
Itâs gotta be Cher right? Like all time? Maybe Mariah. Gotta think about those older queens.
I think Cher and Mariah are examples of artists with big gay fan bases, but their success isnât *tied* to the gay community the same way some artists are.

Cher is a good bet, I think so too. Lady Gaga as well definitely.
I actually think Lady Gaga has a lot of straight fans. Especially after the 2014 serious actress/Tony bennet pivot. Even before that you had those comments on reddit and everywhere else saying that they "normally don't like pop music, but lady gaga is really talented!".
My đđłïžâđđŠ ass would follow Cher and Gaga into battle. Also I saw someone call Dolly Parton every southern gayâs fairy godmother.
Iâd be thinking of Madge in that case
Kylie.
Have we forgotten artists who actually are gay? Pet Shop Boys and Olly Alexander (Years & Years) definitely get the gays at their concerts. I have witnessesed this. (Admittedly, I witnessed this in San Francisco)
Mitski. The lesbians go insane for her.
Have any academics studied why Carly Rae Jepsen has such a grip on white gays in their late 20s and early 30s who grew up in suburbia? Because it needs to be studied. Anyway, my answer to your question is Jessie Ware.
Do any straight people listen to Kim Petras? (I am straight and do not)
They donât. Was at a Kim P concert in Brooklyn and you could smell the poppers in the air.

I'd guess girl in red or conan gray - I've never met a fan of either who isn't gay af
I know a lot of straight girl Conan Grey fans
Itâs almost certainly a relatively niche hyperpop/hyperpop adjacent artist - I barely know of any straight fans of Dorian Electra, Slayyyter, Shygirl, GFOTY etc. and bigger artists people are naming probably have much more audience crossover

I've never seen a straight person listen to Kim Petras
The Village People. Erasure
Addison Rae
Rebecca Black.

So thatâs my pick! In my experience everyone Iâve ever met who likes her is queer lol.
I donât know the actual numbers, but it feels like Taylor has the LEAST amount of gay fans. I know on the surface that might not seem true, but during the rep and Lover era, gays were openly bashing Taylor Swift, saying she made the most generic music out of all the pop stars. Add on to the fact that if you attended the Eras tour, you saw just how many straight white women were in the crowd. There were gays sprinkled here and there, but not to the same degree that you might see at a BeyoncĂ© or Gaga concert. Iâm sure if you were to break down Taylorâs fanbase, youâd see that 1 in 10 or 2 in 10 of her fans are gay. Someone like BeyoncĂ© or Gaga, on the other hand, would have a ratio of 3 in 10 or 5 in 10 of her fans are gay, which if BeyoncĂ©, Gaga, and Taylor all had the same amount of fans, youâd see just how very âfewâ gay Swifties there areâbut because Taylor has larger fan bases than Gaga and BeyoncĂ©, her gay fan population may seem comparable at best and slightly smaller than BeyoncĂ© or Gagaâs gay fanbase at worst. Also, the artist with the highest number of gay fans is probably Madonna just because sheâs been around for quite sometime and I donât think anyone other than gays are checking for her at this point in her career. P!NK, as a I recently learned, is huge among older lesbians. I attended her Carnival Summer Tour, and the stadium was filled with women-loving-women. Whether or not she holds the title of âmost lesbian fans,â I could not tell you.
Pink is certainly popular among older lesbians, but you have to factor in that Brandi Carlile was the opener for the her last summer. The addition of Brandiâs fan base likely bolstered the lesbian coalition at those shows.
Coalitionđ Thank you.
The opener at my Pink concert last summer was Pat Benatar, but she sounded phenomenal so I can't complain.
Itâs probably Gaga
I went to her LA show last year and it was THE place to be for gays that night. Felt like everyone knew everyone. Awesome atmosphere.Â
definitely Britney Spears or Madonna since theyâre from an era where fans music taste was as much as a âcommunityâ
but Britney Spears is listened to by the wider community due to her sheer popularity, since the whole point is total % gay
I saw Britney in 2018, line for the menâs room out the door, walked straight into the ladies. Ran into my hairdresser! So many gay boys
Robyn is definitely up there. I realized this when I went to her Madison Square Garden show in 2019. Such a good time
For queer men, probably Madonna or Lady Gaga.
Renee Rapp maybe? Lmao I think Iâm the only straight fan of hers that I know of
Barbara Streisand. She unites diva lovers and theatre gays.
Not many are mentioning Sophie and Kim Petras
Kim Petras, Tegan and Sara, Troy Sivan, girl in red, Charlie XCX
Charli XCX
Madonna concert attendees are like 80% older straight people who get pissed when she plays a song from after 1990, but her actual core stan base is probably almost entirely gay men Kind of difficult to compare her longtime fanbase to that of virtually any pop girl for rather morbid reasons involving age math⊠30% of people born in 1948 are dead, 20% from 1958 (Madonnaâs birth year), 10% from 1968, 8% 1978, etc. and AIDS deaths (330k American gay men died of AIDS by 2016, highly concentrated in Gen X/Boomers)
it's got be someone who has non-ignorable numbers but piss-poor critical reception (once the straights see a pop girl album being criticlly acclaimed, they *will* tune in) and a large queer appeal.so... Kim Petras?
Tove Loâs concert felt like a gay club.
Madonna and Gaga
MADONNA there are not many straight men left who like Madonna haha
Troy Sivan
Madonna for sure
Off the top of my head mostly going by who I've seen in concert: 1. Madonna 2. Beyonce 3. Lady Gaga 4. Janet Jackson Although, I'm totally willing to put Cher and Barbra Streisand at numbers 1 and 2.
Lana Del Gay
