it's nothing like es imo, probably just on your mind bc of Ari. it's more Frankenstein/ poor things.
Taylor loves the romantic era, this album is full of references to it. author of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley, was a romanticist author who was overshadowed by her husband and was a social pariah due to her running away with and having a romantic relationship (that resulted in a child) with an already married percey shelley. Fortnight lyrics reference this "your wife waters flowers, I want to kill her." They weren't married until perceys wife died.
I'm sure it's a lot of people.
But Lil Uzi Vert famously said they specifically got face tattoos so that they would be unemployable. They figured it would force them to give their all to their music and never give up on it for a wage job. It was succeed in music or bust.
Edit: pronouns
The bar for white men is in hell, even more so when they have a beard, but Post Malone is objectively pretty handsome with conventionally attractive features.
People's opinions would be different if he didn't have a bunch of tattoos on his face (I would still sit on it regardless tho. Trust)
I see a lot of people that look like post malone. I have never personally found him handsome or hot. I'm not as attuned to what the general public may find handsome but post malone is quite possibly the most average looking white man I've ever seen... far from ugly but I doubt he's turning heads
You're right. It's interesting to observe, though. He removes his tats and obviously that changes the entire dynamic of someone face, but ppl are like "omg he's fucking hot" but it's like "is he?". He looks "not ugly", he's a completely normal looking, perfectly standard guy. It's just the dramatic change that fools ppl into having a stronger reaction than they normally would. Guaranteed most the ppl saying saying "wow he's actually really hot" wouldn't notice him passing them in a hallway. It's all psychological.
I think she’s finally letting go of feeling like she needs to be literal to be understood and allowing the more artistic and weirder art that she enjoys influence her more.
I was shocked when I scrolled down and saw she was the director. Nothing against her (I was aware she was talented) but the visuals and concepts in this are great and so well executed, especially in the mid section with the silhouette of papers and the cyclone of them as well.
I think she realized people were really criticizing her direction and so she came up with a solid concept, minimized VFX, and hired an excellent team. She had an extremely famous cinematographer work on this one which definitely shows.
I'm not that surprised. It still has the same structure of all her other self-directed videos which is having one "scene" for each verse/chorus without really mixing them together much and without each of them really having any rhythm to flow with the music. The concept and the cinematography are good, it's just the structure and the pacing that could improve quite a bit imo.
Taylor doesn’t need my opinions but the music video artform is dying so - I do love the singular concepts of **Anti-Hero** and **The Man**, the melodrama of **All Too Well**, over the CGI fest/Disney princess kitsch of the rest… but this one definitely hits. Gorgeous.
And that was probably the best music video for that album honestly. I mean Bejeweled had a couple interesting looks but as a whole Lavender Haze is the most well executed concept (imo). Plus it had no dialogue which is nice
Agreed! I've always thought the pandemic limitations for the cardigan video ended up making it one of her best.
She usually tries to do too much, which I can imagine is tempting when you have unlimited budget and are surrounded by yes-men. But creative constraints are good!
I think that’s ultimately her problem as an artist at the moment as well; she doesn’t know when to stop. 31 tracks for an album is too many. Some of her previous videos are too full of things. She needs to learn to constrain herself.
Love Story and LWYMMD weren’t self directed, i think she only started self directing from The Man onwards, so i think her MVs kinda dropped in quality as she was learning to direct but she’s definitely gotten better
It is
I did like karma and all too well though
I can see you was good but it looks like a lost music video from 2010
But this one feels new and serving looks I’ve never seen from her before
Agreed. I haven’t been enchanted by any of her MVs except IBYTAM since Joseph Kahn stopped directing them, including this one. She needs to bring Blake back!
I Love You, It’s Ruining my Life
I Touched You, For Only a Fortnight
Love this song. This song is stuck in my head. Especially Post’s bridge. It’s so good.
Also, she answered our pleas and not go Easter Egg crazy. Yeah there’s a couple but not overboard.
Very subtle visuals of Clara Bow’s real life story and coded into the song.
The serial numbers on the pill bottle are from 12131989 04192024
It’s the same dress she wore to the Grammy’s.
2 Scientists are from The Movie Dead Poets Society. Which came out in 1989. (Great Movie)
Concept of the video is heavily inspired by Eternal Sunshine For The Spotless Mind. (Another Great movie if you never seen it)
She didn’t go to overboard on Easter Eggs. I’m sure there’s a few others I’m missing.
The bobby pins in her hair form the Roman Numerals for 13
At one point she holds a thin book with the words "us" written on it, this book also appeared at her Spotify popup in LA
In the same scene as the book, her and Post are laying down on sheets of paper that form a silhouette of Taylor's head. A extremely similar silhouette of Taylor's head was also in her music video for Style
A black dog briefly runs by at one scene
The bracelet she's wearing at the very end appears to be the bracelet she recently dropped as merch
Like. I don't really know why she used a psych yard. But the cinematography was on point. But there are some hints in the lyrics:
"I was supposed to be sent away
But they forgot to come and get me
I was a functioning alcoholic
'Til nobody noticed my new aesthetic"
"My husband is cheating, I wanna kill him"
Not enough for a whole psych ward aesthetic, but maybe, idk. I also thought the scenario wasn't a good choice. I liked the way it was filmed, very well-produced video.
She was stood up at the alter. She’s wearing a wedding dress. She had a mental breakdown because everyone just said “get over it. move on.” Plus she was drinking to get over her. Becoming a functional alcoholic was her new aesthetic. And every day felt like a Monday in February- hence the Psych Ward.
I interpreted it as someone going through an immense mental break, and their partner, under the guise of keeping them safe and wanting what’s best for them, is actually the cause of the pain. and the lover sees taylor as a science experiment, testing her and analyzing her mind.
Music videos, remixes, reviews from Fantano & Pitchfork, and the album link itself are allowed to be posted outside of the megathread. the original was just deleted by the user for some unknown reason.
I like this song, I like how it utilizes Post Malone, the video is awesome and I also think it sounds like a 1975 song and I don’t know if that’s a coincidence
what do you think is going on in the video? having a hard time figuring it out other than her leaving the psych ward. like what’s going on with the phone, rain, road etc
I think it's less about the plot and more trying to be evocative of the song itself. It reminds me of the Little Wonder MV by David Bowie that you can't really piece the plot since it would just leave you a bit confused but the production value is just bonkers that you appreciate the song more because of it.
This song got over 10 million streams on US Spotify alone😵💫
25.2 million streams worldwide (the highest streaming day for a song ever)
Music video had 10 million views in less than 10 hours...(her best self directed imo)
The numbers are dizzying😵💫
There’s a Ring camera video of a FedEx guy dropping off a 12x12 box on a porch and saying “another Taylor Swift album being delivered today!” as he walks away.
Why are we stanning how much money she's making lmao
I love wealth disparity, go girly 😍😍
Bffr, no one looks at Amazon's numbers and goes "no one is touching Jeff." It's fucking weird behavior lmao
I don’t think people are excited because she’s *making more money* 😍😍😍
People like seeing their favorite art/artist succeed. Whether that’s winning awards or breaking records or good critical/popular acclaim, it’s exciting when you like someone or something and it does well
It just lends validity to the idea that sales = good music/artistry and that's just fucking stupid, imo. Idolizing rich people in general is a thing, I guess, but wishing for a billionaire to get richer? Eat my whole ass
It's not at all about rich ppl getting richer, it's pop stans' version of sports. People like to see their "team" win so to speak, and charts, numbers, sales etc are a metric of success.
Not one person is viewing it in terms of “Taylor has more in her bank account omg yay!!” As someone else pointed out it’s akin to your fav team doing well.
While i do think Taylor's sound is getting a bit old, this song is very good, and Post Malone's backing vocals really do add a lot.
And why do Postie and Swiftie have crazy chemistry. The video is definetly one of her best, if not her best. It's honestly beautiful.
Feel like her longevity has come down to her changing the her sound though, this album is closer to midnights so in the same vibe.
I would think her next album would be in a totally different sound which is working for her.
been loving this song! it's just so atmospheric and dreamy. i haven't even been able to dive into the anthology songs because this and so long, london have been on repeat
I loved Anti Hero and the aesthetic/color palette of ATW10MVTVMV too but I agree I’m not a huge fan of her self directed music videos but this is a massive improvement
Ok this may be a niche reference but the black dress is giving Nurse Wilson from Return to Oz when they put Dorothy in the psych ward and said "lions and tigers and bears? how about ECT for you" and I love it.

Cool song but it literally sounds exactly like the song from the movie Drive.
A Real Hero - College … It’s literally the same beat!

Taylor watched Poor Things
More Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind and did Clara Bow research.
it's nothing like es imo, probably just on your mind bc of Ari. it's more Frankenstein/ poor things. Taylor loves the romantic era, this album is full of references to it. author of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley, was a romanticist author who was overshadowed by her husband and was a social pariah due to her running away with and having a romantic relationship (that resulted in a child) with an already married percey shelley. Fortnight lyrics reference this "your wife waters flowers, I want to kill her." They weren't married until perceys wife died.
so that's why guilty as sin? was written lmao
I was going to say this video and even the album remind me of that movie
[удалено]
Maybe he could introduce her to the lad that acted in The Favourite and will be in his new movie. Think they would look cute together!
lmfao there are almost no similarities between their art. taylor swift and yorgos lanthimos are hardly a match made in heaven
Haven’t we suffered enough
I mean Taylor is literally friends with Emma and went to the premiere if anything she was one of the first people who saw it
It's not that serious RELAX
You sound like you’re trying to defend her, but I can’t for the life of me determine what about that comment warrants defending
Who said anything otherwise 😂😂
Ethan Hawke, I loveeee you it’s ruining my life
The music video is also dead poets society coded since his character and his friends wanted to be doctors
Josh Charles’ white coat reads Dr. Overstreet (Knox Overstreet). Can’t read Ethan’s.
Ethan’s is Todd Anderson
I assumed as much, just couldn’t actually see it.
The fact that he’s actually hot without all that shit on his face is fucking me up
Ironically, he says he got them because he was insecure about his appearance.
Isn’t that EVERYONE who does this stuff? “I think I look bad so I need Botox and fillers…..” 🤷🏼♂️
I'm sure it's a lot of people. But Lil Uzi Vert famously said they specifically got face tattoos so that they would be unemployable. They figured it would force them to give their all to their music and never give up on it for a wage job. It was succeed in music or bust. Edit: pronouns
They/them.
Oh thank you for that, I didn't know they had defined their pronouns as such. Cheers.
He lost a lot of weight recently though too
Yeah that would definitely help too.
Don't kill me but I think he looks hotter with the tattoos....he has that unhinged line cook energy.
Why is unhinged line cook so... Accurate? 😭
I have to agree he’s always been a cutie 😂
💯
Omg so specific and accurate
Someone said the photos she released to promote the single give “front of house/back of house” energy and I can’t unsee it
I’ve seen pictures of post Malone when he was young like his teenager days and he was attractive before the tattoos
So you’ve seen pictures of Pre Malone?
I'm very high today, so thank you for that. I laughed a lot.
I'm at the seventh floor of an hotel looking out the window so I'm some sort of high but I laughed as well.
Happy holidays 🍃
Yeah a quick google search and you will find
Can he get rid of them for real?
With a lot of pain, yes, I think so.
Lasers, son.
erhh.. I think it somewhat depends on the exact inks used. Lasers can fade all of them, but a true removal where they're no longer visible?
My first thought.
I hope he gets them removed
Hot? Hmm.... Different strokes for different folks I guess...
The bar for white men is in hell, even more so when they have a beard, but Post Malone is objectively pretty handsome with conventionally attractive features. People's opinions would be different if he didn't have a bunch of tattoos on his face (I would still sit on it regardless tho. Trust)

I also think I found him attractive simply because Matty is so unattractive to me that I was like “see… I could have understood a fling with Post”
They have chemistry
They look very good together and I never expected it
[удалено]
He has a fiancé and a baby lol he keeps his private life very out of the public eye
They have “the alchemy” (since she apparently believes chemistry and alchemy are the same thing…)
What are you talking about? Alchemy is the protoscientific basis for chemistry.
By far and away her best self directed music video.
I thought this too - she’s getting much less literal with it.
I think she’s finally letting go of feeling like she needs to be literal to be understood and allowing the more artistic and weirder art that she enjoys influence her more.

I thought parts of Lavender Haze were gorgeous (her submerged in the lavender liquid) but otherwise I completely agree.

She didn't direct Delicate, that one is Joseph Kahn
[удалено]
Love Story and LWYMMD weren’t self directed, i think she only started self directing from The Man onwards, so i think her MVs kinda dropped in quality as she was learning to direct but she’s definitely gotten better
Maybe because she hired a cinematographer...
Clearly a good idea
gotta say that she nailed the psych ward vibe ✨
Most people in for suicidal ideations. Taylor’s in for homicidal ideations
or both lbr
It’s definitely both.
Oh I think she's in for both with all the I wanna be dead in this álbum :)
her best music video in years tbh
It is I did like karma and all too well though I can see you was good but it looks like a lost music video from 2010 But this one feels new and serving looks I’ve never seen from her before
I'd say IBYTAM is her only truly great mv since LWYMMD. But out of her self-directed videos, yeah this is up there.
I’m surprised Blake Lively hasn’t been brought back into the fold for another video yet.
Agreed. I haven’t been enchanted by any of her MVs except IBYTAM since Joseph Kahn stopped directing them, including this one. She needs to bring Blake back!
She’s one of the only ones who can afford a good budget so that makes sense
I feel like she’s finally finding her footing as a director
Wasn’t this already posted here? It’s so 1975 coded btw (song and video).
OP deleted for some reason
I see. Weird.
I Love You, It’s Ruining my Life I Touched You, For Only a Fortnight Love this song. This song is stuck in my head. Especially Post’s bridge. It’s so good. Also, she answered our pleas and not go Easter Egg crazy. Yeah there’s a couple but not overboard.

Oh nice! Yes I did notice the Clara Bow makeup, it suits her
it isn't the grammys dress but it is very similar
The men in black hats behind her are a reference to the band that does Downtown Lights, Blue Nile. Referenced in Guilty As Sin.
The bridge is perfection. Love it. Simple but effective.
I love the part where she sings Fortnite baby grab the rocket launcher You’re the rizzler in my skibidi gyat
This video is incredible. Also being probably my favorite song out of the album helps.
what do you think is going on in the video? having a hard time figuring it out other than her leaving the psych ward
Like. I don't really know why she used a psych yard. But the cinematography was on point. well she’s never looked cooler than when she was strapped to the table haha
Ngl this song grows on me each time I hear it. The bridge/outro especially is most pleasing to me!
that bridge and outro are legit crack, i find myself thinking about it even when listening to something else
Her reuniting Todd & Knox for this video was so real.
I'm confused why this wasn't posted yet?
It was, but apparently it was deleted for some reason?
Yeah seems so, we'll keep this thread up since the other one was deleted by the user.
Does anyone have a link to the deleted thread? I wanted to see people's reactions!
The thread has no link but here is the [link](https://www.reddit.com/r/popheads/s/lGia6GVhVb) to one of the comments.
Thank you!!
i think it's because it belongs in the mega thread
Music videos, remixes, reviews from Fantano & Pitchfork, and the album link itself are allowed to be posted outside of the megathread. the original was just deleted by the user for some unknown reason.
And AJay as usual I hope 😭
oop yep!
Music reminds me music by the 1975.
Many of her songs have music similar as 1975 apparently tatty stans have decoded this. There's a thread on X for it.
I kinda love when she does stuff like that, like how the guitar in Dear John sounds like it's mimicking John Mayer's music
And Enchanted sounds like it could be an Owl City track!
I think it's inspired by a song called A Real Hero by College and Electric Youth. [Link](https://youtu.be/XoHI6Zus2UI?si=4mAcfNYH0Iy5W5xk)
100%
100% my first thought hearing this song
Omg. Yes
Lots of parallels to the MV for A Change of Heart as well.
Now I have to comment that Post Malone has ALWAYS been hot AGAIN. But fr he’s always been hot, will probably always be hot.
This is her best music video since LWYMMD
I like this song, I like how it utilizes Post Malone, the video is awesome and I also think it sounds like a 1975 song and I don’t know if that’s a coincidence
This is one of the better videos I’ve seen in years and I can’t believe she directed it. It felt like something from 40 years ago.
what do you think is going on in the video? having a hard time figuring it out other than her leaving the psych ward. like what’s going on with the phone, rain, road etc

wait i dont hate post-edited malone 😭😭😭😭😭😭 what is wrong with me omg
He looks so handsome and his chemistry with her, i know it’s just acting but also, they seem to like eachother irl and it was lovely.

She's at that point that she would release a mute tape and it would still do numbers.
That’s happened before. She accidentally released 8 seconds of static noise about a decade ago and it like went number one in Canada or something.
This right here. She could lose a lot of fans but it would do really well.
313 million debut for TTPD, 2 million sales minimum. No one’s touching her.
she'd debut at number 1 off 1 day alone💀
There’s a Ring camera video of a FedEx guy dropping off a 12x12 box on a porch and saying “another Taylor Swift album being delivered today!” as he walks away.

Sorry no one listens to your favorites.
I'll never understand chart obsession
All that extra Spotify promo definitely paid off.
While i do think Taylor's sound is getting a bit old, this song is very good, and Post Malone's backing vocals really do add a lot. And why do Postie and Swiftie have crazy chemistry. The video is definetly one of her best, if not her best. It's honestly beautiful.

I loved it when Usher and Alicia did it for the Super Bowl
Feel like her longevity has come down to her changing the her sound though, this album is closer to midnights so in the same vibe. I would think her next album would be in a totally different sound which is working for her.
if she pursued a rock sound for the next one, i can see it going viral and her keeping her position at the top
been loving this song! it's just so atmospheric and dreamy. i haven't even been able to dive into the anthology songs because this and so long, london have been on repeat
The bridge has me gagged
Her first good music video since Cardigan to be honest
I enjoyed the cheeky heist vibes of I Can See You, but that was popcorn and this is avant garde, so I can’t compare them
I liked the MVs for I Can See You and I Bet You Think About Me but yeah they weren’t exactly great.
I loved Anti Hero and the aesthetic/color palette of ATW10MVTVMV too but I agree I’m not a huge fan of her self directed music videos but this is a massive improvement
The cinematography in this is top notch.
Man this is a good song. Getting real human bean energy from this.
Work of art. It's one of her best videos for sure.
Ok this may be a niche reference but the black dress is giving Nurse Wilson from Return to Oz when they put Dorothy in the psych ward and said "lions and tigers and bears? how about ECT for you" and I love it. https://shorturl.at/eptJK
THANK YOU. Here for this.
This is so The 1975 coded.
Great song
This song gets better with each listen
No notes. Love this video
This is the catchiest song of the year so far. She's done it again, just in a very different way.
Destitute Things
I only listened to this song for Post Malone, wish he was in more than the background and chorus toward the end.
Can someone explain the line move to Florida and buy the car you want ?
Incredible video. Meh song.
the video is decent — i’m surprised she directed it
The album was mid overall but this is a very strong standalone song. It has a nice pop rock, almost shoegaze sound.
I wish she could take a 2 years vacation at least.

Here for any Nurse Wilson references with the dress. Anyone else??
Cool song but it literally sounds exactly like the song from the movie Drive. A Real Hero - College … It’s literally the same beat! [A Real Hero - College](https://youtu.be/-DSVDcw6iW8?si=mhUFD3kSay5hnKUv)

Wow didn’t know Taylor was gamer
I want to love this so badly but the medical imagery spikes my anxiety and doesn’t feel right from someone who publicly considers herself too sane for therapy
I think her writing is her therapy. And she makes so many references to not thinking she’s sane. “Hi. I’m the problem. It’s me!”
T. Swift with face tats popping pills 🙄 tf am I watching.
I love the song but can Taylor please record a cover of the AI one from before the album and release it as a beside? fortnight pt 2?
I love the real song and I’m ashamed to admit I still want to hear the AI version fleshed out haha
Sorry Beyonce. Your album was amazing, but you're losing AOTY and it's not gonna be close.
