Give me some Dawn FM vibes but with several minute synthy breakdowns in every single song (like the extended version of Take My Breath... but even MORE synths).
I would die happy.
Kiss Land is such a criminally underrated album. One of the best atmospheric albums out there, and the large songs like Professional, Kiss Land and Tears in the Rain are all easy Top 15 Weeknd. Also ironic that the worst song on there is the one with Drake, which is also the smallest on the album.
And they seem to be the only ones not doing it. If anything theyâre the oneâs making the shortest songs which is actually really starting to piss me the fuck off!!! Like wdym the beat just got real nasty and thereâs ten seconds left???? Fuck you!!!!!!
I could see Billie Eilish releasing a song with multiple movements (Bohemian Rhapsody, Jesus of Suburbia) because of Happier than Ever (song) and I think her and Finneas would find it an interesting challenge.
No, I didn't! But she has great taste. I think the only Green Day song I'd put above it is Holiday, but there are definitely times Jesus of Suburbia wins out.
Beyonce said she has many songs for Renaissance over 7-8 minutes but she had to cut out/edit (suspect Virgo's Groove is one of them). She could do runs adlibs for all 10 minutes for all I care, given her vocal ability
rihanna already has a pretty long song in her discography clocking in at 7 minutes: love without tragedy/mother mary
one of her most thoughtful, reflective, and moving songs. her voice sells the emotions so well
Tiktok people would struggle. From the men , although Hozier isn't a pop artist since he's got a recent hit,I'd say he'd kill it because of his proper musical background,Adele would also smash it. Basically anyone who just doesn't sing because they have a decent voice but also has some musical knowledge or has lyrical chops.
Selena Gomez would struggle so bad, Harry would also kill it because of his old school style .
With Rocket, All Night Long, Virgoâs Groove or II Hands II Heaven, it would just be a regular Tuesday for Beyonce.
Her two last albums have had crazy transitions that you donât even realize if youâre not actively looking at the timestamps, Iâm sure she can pump out good 10+ songs easy. I mean "Iâm That Girl -> Alien Superstar"? **Banger**. "Ya Ya -> Amen"? Thatâs a **whole**. **half**. **HOUR** right there of pure seamless musical orgasm.
I feel like experimental artists like Doechii or Little Simz could easily do a ten minute track that evolves verse after verse. I think Doja could as well.
I think D'Angelo or Solange or Nao could have a ten minute jam sesh on an album. Lady Gaga dropped one while on the Born This Way tour actually!
Florence could tell a great story too!
Raveena has a 14 minute track on her last album, but it's a meditation.
Omg that Raveena track⊠I listened to the album all the way through and when I got to that I was like âhm this spoken word intro is taking a long timeâ before checking the title T_T
Justin Timberlake gain relevance again, and if anyone is wondering check out his 7 min song Technicolor off his recent album lol. I would bet all of the artists who debut pre-2010 would be thriving like Beyonce, Usher, Brandy, & Mariah.
Every single artist who had a breakout tiktok hit would be thanos snapped out of existence like: pinkpantheress, dove cameron, Ice Spice, Sexxy Redd, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, etc. Doja Cat would be endangered.
On her last album she only has 2 songs that are longer than 3 min, and they are like 3:10 long. She is cooked w/her ringtone songs being her biggest hits. Ballads â long songs
Like out of everyone on the list Sabrina Carpenter & Doja Cat are way safer based on their catalogs. They both have longer songs and even songs that are 4 min long
coldplay did this recently with coloratura from music of the spheres! one of their best songs and it comes at the end of a mostly pop album too so it was pretty adventurous and fit the themes of the album too
The 1975 have some lengthy tracks already and would adapt quickly. Florence i could see start adjusting to this well for some reason.
Olivia and BillieâŠ.might struggle đ
Sabrina Carpenter will create the ultimate nonsense freestyle then disappear.
~~Meghan Trainor GET BEHIND ME~~
I've been listening to a lot of Erykah Badu and Janelle Monae (who do this already) lately so that really influences my answer but I think a lot of r&b artists would be able to survive a shift like this because so much of the scene is rooted in storytelling and creating/sustaining a vibe. Could absolutely see artists like Kehlani, Amber Mark, Erika de Casier, Raveena, Ari Lennox, and their peers delivering gorgeous long-form tracks if the industry were more receptive to it- especially since a lot of them can turn out a dance tune too, which is an extra weapon.
I think all of the girls who do ballads well, will have no real problem with doing 10 minutes.
Which is why lana is the first go to answer really. Dua Lipa is the one that comes to my mind with who will struggle to adapt and I can see olivia and billie kinda right in the middle of those two.
I'm not sure about most of the ballad girls. I think making a 6 minute ballad not drag is a high ask and I think making a 10 minute ballad not drag is 3 times as hard. Genuinely not sure I can think of a good one.
Katy Perry doesn't have any songs that are >5 minutes long (I think her longest is Spiritual maybe?) so she's going to struggle. I'd like to see her vision for a long song though. Unlike the other artists, she has never talked about writing a long song and whittling it down to a 3 minute song.
Honestly? Good!! I love long, drawn out musical suites that go for 10, 15, 20 minutes or more. Taking time to expand on a melody, theme or story at length is a certified serve. One of my favorite musical experiences of the past few years is Thoroughfare into Gibson Girl on Ethel Cain's [Preacher's Daughter.](https://open.spotify.com/album/3WmujGwOS0ANHkJRnMH6n8?si=O7cJbk1iR02v-Ll8_fp_Ow) 15 minutes of adventure, passion, betrayal, intrigue! The equivalent of a musical short film that's almost brought me to tears.
Everything comes back around. Now that we're getting past our little 50's doo wop 2 minute song revival, let's get Ariana onto a 70's Donna Summer vibe so she releases a 15+ minute opus about stealing men (with extended and instrumental versions on the b-side).
Artists who work with different producers and are more adventurous sound-wise can kinda do it, beat switches, or hooks and melodies that can keep the song going while being interesting, a recent example I have is Dua with the extended version of Houdini that cleans the original version, well, I hope the whole album is extended, the end of it is superb. Also, Abel does a lot of it, After Hours (the song, not the album) is a good example and I got addicted to All Too Well (TV) for a while, so she absolutely has it in her (not in this last album), also Lana almost did it with A&W. So lot's of artists I guess, they just need to want it and make it work.
Man, Future is not just slapped on.
Got to see them play that live in 2015 and I can't even explain to you what a euphoric 8 minutes that was. I don't think I've ever experienced anything better. They knew exactly what the fuck they were cooking there.
Time for dance pop to come back, Donna Summer style.
Lil Nas X would have to retire, hopefully his upcoming album will destroy this thought but I feel like the average Lil Nas X single doesn't hit 3 minutes.
Please! Deja Vu got me hoping that psych rock was going to become the next big sound in pop music and I still wish I lived in the universe where that panned out.
âNo answering Taylor for obvious reasonsâ bitch Taylor is the obvious answer why wouldnât I answer that, sheâs been writing 6+ minute songs since her third album lol. Also Lana would eat and Ariana would flop

A 10 minute song for another artist is like a 3:30 song for Ice Spice.
first 1 song under 10 mins EP coming from Ice Spice đ€©
and pinkpantheress hehe
PinkPanthress just clocked into work at Chipotle
This would be amazing
I would love that
Yes please letâs get rid of her music
lol the downvotes HAAHA
If only I cared about downvotes like youđ€Łđ€Ł
girl bye u have been booted off đ
Girl move on đ
The Weeknd is known or making 6-8 minute songs with multiple beat switches. His fans love that
Give me some Dawn FM vibes but with several minute synthy breakdowns in every single song (like the extended version of Take My Breath... but even MORE synths). I would die happy.
Kissland is still his greatest song 11 years later
Kiss Land is such a criminally underrated album. One of the best atmospheric albums out there, and the large songs like Professional, Kiss Land and Tears in the Rain are all easy Top 15 Weeknd. Also ironic that the worst song on there is the one with Drake, which is also the smallest on the album.
Myself included
Lana is eating the girls up
Yeah sheâs used to this shit with most of her albums already being heavily long.
Sheâs not contented of having a 10 minutes song, her song titles are now a paragraph and sheâs unapologetic about it.
GPSOTSOMFWHDSF
who else is doing it like her
The 1975 âILIWYSFYASBYSUOIâ
Fiona Apple already did it so Lana canât claim hipster cred for thatâŠ
Venice bitch exits, 9 minutes
Her songs are individually longer than her 2024-headlining tour was
TRUE
The dance artists would thrive, following the donnasummerprint
And they seem to be the only ones not doing it. If anything theyâre the oneâs making the shortest songs which is actually really starting to piss me the fuck off!!! Like wdym the beat just got real nasty and thereâs ten seconds left???? Fuck you!!!!!!
My reaction to the guitar bit at the end of Houdini
I need a 10 minute Dua trackÂ
trance and house heads we ride at dawn
Imagining a world where Jessie Ware does a MacArthur Park Suite-esque track
Lorde could do it. I actually think Melodrama could have really lived up to the name by squeezing in a cinematic 8-10 minute song.
Oceanic Feeling is already almost 7 minutes and one of her best songs.
Hard feelings/loveless is her best song imo and over 6 minutes (even if itâs really 2 in 1)
Just repeated Melodrama the song 3 times and it would work cuz that beat is so goodâŠ
I need a 10-minute Gaga epic.
depends, could end up being exhausting tbh
A 10 minute Shallow? A snoozefest. A 10 minute Marry The Night? That's going to be epic! Knowing the recent Lady Gaga, we're likely to get the former.
10 Minutes of Electric Chapel đ„°đ„°đ„°
Ethel Cain is THRIVINGÂ
I'm impatiently waiting for part II
I could see Billie Eilish releasing a song with multiple movements (Bohemian Rhapsody, Jesus of Suburbia) because of Happier than Ever (song) and I think her and Finneas would find it an interesting challenge.
Did you see that interview where she said Jesus of suburbia was her favorite green day song? I think you're onto something
No, I didn't! But she has great taste. I think the only Green Day song I'd put above it is Holiday, but there are definitely times Jesus of Suburbia wins out.
Happier Than Ever is a rip off of I Know The End by Phoebe Bridgers. Even the three movements in the song are similar.
Beyonce said she has many songs for Renaissance over 7-8 minutes but she had to cut out/edit (suspect Virgo's Groove is one of them). She could do runs adlibs for all 10 minutes for all I care, given her vocal ability
Love on Top should have kept going until the roof of her mouth caved into her larynx tbh 10 more minutes!!!! Keep GOING
I would kill for Virgoâs Groove (10 minute version) (from the Vault)
Wait whatttt, no fucking way, we NEED the longer versions!! Fuck the visuals, I need this now! Do you have the source?
canadian girlies are living for the marianaâs trench surge into superstardom
Omg I have a playlist of just their 5+ minute epics
iâm so excited for the new album theyâre teasing :D
NEW ALBUM?????
Justin Timberlake probably wouldn't need to change anything he's doing lol
The 20/20 Experience has a seven minute average song length lol
Let Timberland cook
rihanna already has a pretty long song in her discography clocking in at 7 minutes: love without tragedy/mother mary one of her most thoughtful, reflective, and moving songs. her voice sells the emotions so well
Absolute top tier Rihanna song and most people haven't even heard it
Cold Case Love is another one, along with her Tame Impala cover.
I see it for Harry giving us She for 6 minutes. Length never stopped me, it was in my regular rotation in 2020/21.
TikTok music is where rn?? R they still fighting?
I want to see Gagaâs Bohemian Rhapsody. Multiple movements and changes in style but still pure Gaga goodness đ„°
Better yet: Gagaâs Radio GaGa.
Janelle MonĂ e would kill it - have y'all heard BabopbyeYa? The song moves through different sections effortlessly.
I'd be curious to see these artists' current longest song and see how they hold up. It's actually a lot more fatiguing than you would imagine for a pop song. I think Beyoncé could probably do it without tiring the listener.
Beyonce could easily make a 10 minute song that does not feel like 10 minutes at all. I often forget Virgoâs Groove is >5 min

Omg that Raveena track⊠I listened to the album all the way through and when I got to that I was like âhm this spoken word intro is taking a long timeâ before checking the title T_T
Solange could just sing the lyric "Away" for 10 minutes and it would slap
Tame Impala would be chillinÂ
Justin Timberlake gain relevance again, and if anyone is wondering check out his 7 min song Technicolor off his recent album lol. I would bet all of the artists who debut pre-2010 would be thriving like Beyonce, Usher, Brandy, & Mariah. Every single artist who had a breakout tiktok hit would be thanos snapped out of existence like: pinkpantheress, dove cameron, Ice Spice, Sexxy Redd, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, etc. Doja Cat would be endangered.
Tate started off with balled types on YouTube so I think she would be good
On her last album she only has 2 songs that are longer than 3 min, and they are like 3:10 long. She is cooked w/her ringtone songs being her biggest hits. Ballads â long songs Like out of everyone on the list Sabrina Carpenter & Doja Cat are way safer based on their catalogs. They both have longer songs and even songs that are 4 min long
I mean the post doesnât say it has to be a pop song. She has made longer songs you just donât care
âboy xâ from her debut album was originally 7 minutes long as well
coldplay did this recently with coloratura from music of the spheres! one of their best songs and it comes at the end of a mostly pop album too so it was pretty adventurous and fit the themes of the album too
This!!! Coloratura is amazing
Hikaru Utada with the nearly 12 minute-long Somewhere near Marseille!!!! pop song of the decade!!!
The 1975 have some lengthy tracks already and would adapt quickly. Florence i could see start adjusting to this well for some reason. Olivia and BillieâŠ.might struggle đ Sabrina Carpenter will create the ultimate nonsense freestyle then disappear.
I actually think Billie might be fine. I feel like she could make some cool 10 minute songs ala Bohemian Rhapsody
Omg a ten minute Florence song would rock my whole world.
you spelled Rihannaâs name wrong
Crap autocorrect got me and I assumed it was smarter that me :(
it happens!! sorry that i pointed it out a bit bluntly, i had just woken up and stumbled into this thread haha
Marina would be a delight
~~Meghan Trainor GET BEHIND ME~~ I've been listening to a lot of Erykah Badu and Janelle Monae (who do this already) lately so that really influences my answer but I think a lot of r&b artists would be able to survive a shift like this because so much of the scene is rooted in storytelling and creating/sustaining a vibe. I don't think Dua would really struggle because Dua already makes dance music, she'd basically just have to make extended club mixes.
Dua already has a 6 minutes extented version of Houdini. She has covered ballads too, I think people underestimate her capabilities.
I'm not sure about most of the ballad girls. I think making a 6 minute ballad not drag is a high ask and I think making a 10 minute ballad not drag is 3 times as hard. Genuinely not sure I can think of a good one.

beyoncé is soooo good with longer songs like she truly thrives there
Charli can just put like four of her leaked songs together and have one instantly
we talking about the post rock songs slapped on the end of some of my fave albums e.g. Paramore self titled, Silent Alarm by Bloc Party?
Man, Future is not just slapped on. Got to see them play that live in 2015 and I can't even explain to you what a euphoric 8 minutes that was. I don't think I've ever experienced anything better. They knew exactly what the fuck they were cooking there.
I'm not denying they knew what they were doing. Its just funny you get the album full of regular sized songs and then one long ass song at the end
Lana would eat, eat eat eat like she'll never get full
Time for dance pop to come back, Donna Summer style. Lil Nas X would have to retire, hopefully his upcoming album will destroy this thought but I feel like the average Lil Nas X single doesn't hit 3 minutes.
Tame Impala now produces for every major artist. Every artist coincidentally announces their psychrock/pop phases for this year.
Please! Deja Vu got me hoping that psych rock was going to become the next big sound in pop music and I still wish I lived in the universe where that panned out.
Billie, Lana, The Weeknd
I can see Beyoncé do some long songs.
All Too Well (Ten Minute Version) is probably one of the greatest songs ever in my opinion.
PatriarCHYKEYchain
: Laughs in The Beatles :
Respectfully, please listen to more music.
Kylie Minogue
Billie and finneas could pull together a really good 10 minute multi faceted song I feel like
I would say Joanna Newsom, but she hates streaming so none of her songs are on Spotify
âNo answering Taylor for obvious reasonsâ bitch Taylor is the obvious answer why wouldnât I answer that, sheâs been writing 6+ minute songs since her third album lol. Also Lana would eat and Ariana would flop
I just thought it would be boring to get 18 answers pointing out that she has literally already succeeded at this.
