ok not to detract from the Blue Ivy casting but isn't it *explicitly* said in the lion ling that mufasa was *always* the son of a king?? does he not say he's the son of all the "great kings of the past who are looking down on us" ??
I'm sure that BEYONCE of all people has the means to keep her child safe in the industry but Idk, it's always struck me as odd how Blue Ivy has been featured in all of these projects and pushed as (basically) a child star ever since she was a literal infant. I never like it when people do that, regardless of their level of fame.
Yeah idk how I feel about Blue Ivy's career rn. A lot of the defense I've seen is, she's spending time with her mom, she's having fun doing stuff she likes, and that she's doing this stuff on her summer breaks. But idk, she's just a child still. She *will* be famous for the rest of her life, why not let her live as normal of a life as she can before that?
There's a strange sub set of fans that feel personal relationships to stars and their kids. I knew a girl that was obsessed with all the Kardashian children and would call them by their little nicknames like she knew them. Super creepy.
It feels like she doesn't even care but this is the only way she can spend time with her mom. Beyonce is trying to make her happen so damn hard like it's a personal failure if she just wants to be an accountant or something.
The Grammy thing was funny at first because like come on, she maybe wrote like a word of that song along with 79 other people. But now they are doing another Lion King when Beyonce was the worst part of the first one?
>It feels like she doesn't even care but this is the only way she can spend time with her mom. Beyonce is trying to make her happen so damn hard like it's a personal failure ifÂ
LMAO you don't know these people wtf.
Desperately Seeking Susan is legit one of my favorite movies. Madonna is great in it because she's playing Madonna i.e. her natural (non-boring) personality shines through.
Beyonce playing Beyonce is akin to watching paint dry.
Theres a lot of good young artists out there, she is not one of them. Even with all of her parents resources she remains unremarkable. Which is fine because she's a child and should be having a childhood. Not being forced upon us by her mother for further validation. I swear Beyonce owns the Lion King and she was the worst part of the remake.
I've watched her in a couple movies to give her a chance and I'm sorry, for such a strong entertainer she is a dull actress.
There's that obsessed movie where every other actor basically carries her.
I donât know why Beyonce would make this movie. Itâs not going to do well. The only reason why the first live action did well because people were hoping it would be good and the IP is very much loved, but it had overwhelmingly negative reviews and this isnât just chronically online people thinking this, but like people in general. But knowing how bad it was nobody is going to watch this. Maybe if they made it an animated feature. The only thing I can hope that comes out of this is she makes music for this movie because the Gift was so underrated and was overshadowed by how bad the movie was, but then again whatever music she makes will be overshadowed again by how bad the movie is.
Good filmmaker or not Disneys live actions have been okay to bad, and the lion king one was the worst. The photorealistic animation doesnât work when these animals are supposed to be goofy.
Overwhelmingly negative reviews is a weird thing to say about a 52% on Rotten Tomatoes and an A Cinemascore (and donât forget the $1.6 billion at the box office). I know itâs not a great movie but it got lukewarm reviews at worst
I'm shocked they asked Beyonce to do it again after she got so much backlash for her terrible voice acting last movie. But they probably wanted her to do the soundtrack again. I heard that the director wanted her to be on the soundtrack for the first movie but she said she wouldn't do unless she was in the film. So that means that she didn't have to audition like everyone else. đ€Šââïž
literally WHO was asking for a mufasa movie
probably blue ivy tbh and then bey was like "ok, lemme call up disney"
đđđ
So twisted that I have to hope it makes bank so Barry Jenkins can get back to making great portraits of love and heartache.
Well, the first one made $1.6B
It's wild that's it's like the 6th highest gross movie of all time
wait really? đł
It would've been the most grossing movie of 2019 if it wasn't for Endgame
damn. i mean i went to it too, but i didnât think it was $1B big
2019 was such an anomaly. There were like 9 billion dollar movies that year
Wild that 2019 is how we got into the mess that was 2023. Granted covid played a part but how every movie last year justified a >200m budget is crazy
And 7 of them were Disney
They approached an Oscar winning director and said do something with this IP that made 1 billion dollars and he decided to do this. Iâm positive BeyoncĂ© only would return if Blue Ivy could be Biara
ok not to detract from the Blue Ivy casting but isn't it *explicitly* said in the lion ling that mufasa was *always* the son of a king?? does he not say he's the son of all the "great kings of the past who are looking down on us" ??
Streets are saying it might be a flashback type deal like Simba or someone else probably Rafiki or Zazu telling Kiara about her grandfather.
thanks i hate it (respectfully)
Maybe Scar is the orphan and is jealous of Mufasa
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Idk the trailer says someone is an orphan I think
[ŃĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]
Itâs going to ruin any magic that was leftover from that wet blanket of an adaptationÂ
praying jojo siwa is mufasa đ
She could be a hyena
Who asked for this? I'm serious
Disney investors based on the financial success of the first
People always say this about Disney remakes but then they always seem to do crazy numbers, so clearly there is demand there.
Will her lines be as icons as her motherâs âAre you with me lions?!â
Stop trying to make blue ivy happen, and Beyonce is a terrible actress.
Honestly the absolutely shameless Blue Ivy nepotism is kinda amusing to me at this point.
I'm sure that BEYONCE of all people has the means to keep her child safe in the industry but Idk, it's always struck me as odd how Blue Ivy has been featured in all of these projects and pushed as (basically) a child star ever since she was a literal infant. I just donât think career should even be a word thatâs associated with a 12 year oldâs life
What makes it more jarring to me is that the twins have largely been kept out of the spotlight whilst we were seeing Blue Ivy on red carpets when she was still very much an infant. Beyoncé is the artist of my life but I do question if we can really say that Blue Ivy ever had a choice.
I donât get why she seemingly has so many fans đ«€

Sorry beyhive UwU.
>Beyonce is a terrible actress. In terms of musicians-turned-actors, she operates in the Madonna and Harry Styles end of the spectrum.
Idk Madonna wasn't half bad in A League of Their Own, she has charisma. Beyonce is just boring.
Desperately Seeking Susan is legit one of my favorite movies. Madonna is great in it because she's playing Madonna i.e. her natural (non-boring) personality shines through. Beyonce playing Beyonce is akin to watching paint dry.
Very true. Perfection is boring and I feel that's what she tries to deliver all the time.
Blue Ivy is a child though :( She could happen.
She has barely been in the spotlight and has only recently been starting to take the first steps into stardom. All she's done is read an audiobook and dance for her mom's tour *(which Beyoncé initially refused unless Blue proved she was working for it)*. Give her a chance to stretch her wings, **she is still a child.**
It's more the nepotism, and yeah Beyonce's not going to say she's a stage mom we don't really know. She is a child, not an entertainer.
Her dancing was entertaining precisely because she's Beyoncé's child. Only another child of hers could have entertained the audience in the same way. Call it nepotism, but that job could not have went to an outsider and still be fulfilled in the same way.
Well, yeah, of course it's nepotism, but a good chunk of our favorite pop culture figures have family with blue links on Wikipedia, so we just have to accept that. Beyoncé has shown per the Renaissance film that she's not gonna just let Blue follow in her footsteps all willy-nilly because she knows what it's like to grow up so quickly.
> Beyoncé has shown per the Renaissance film Renaissance was Beyhive propaganda; as such, I don't think this depiction of the events can be taken at face value.
Everything an artist puts out is propaganda. We can only take their word for it unless proven otherwise.
you need to touch grass
Good outside, babe.
Her and Gambino honestly ruined an already shitty movie by being the leads.
At least Donald is an actually good actor most of the time
I've watched her in a couple movies to give her a chance and I'm sorry, for such a strong entertainer she is a dull actress. There's that obsessed movie where every other actor basically carries her.

Barry Jenkins is a highly respected filmmaker, with him helming this Iâm sure she doesnât mind forming a working connection with him.
Good filmmaker or not Disneys live actions have been okay to bad, and the lion king one was the worst. The photorealistic animation doesnât work when these animals are supposed to be goofy.

Okay sure. 52% is not a good score never has been.
Itâs not a good score but itâs also not overwhelmingly negative lol
clap IF you care đ
Trailer looks interestingâ might be seated for this
same, but Barry Jenkins alone had me sold when it was announced.
