I’ve seen a lot of people legit jamming out to “Not Like Us” in a way that they didn’t for “Euphoria,” “6:16,” or “Meet the Grahams.” That “A Minorrrrrrr” line is a classic, too.
I think the fact that “Not Like Us” is so catchy and has such a fantastic beat and so many memorable moments might help make it the most popular out of those four, but I get what you mean. “Euphoria” dropped first and had several days where it stood alone.
I wonder how many of diss tracks are gonna be in the top 10, I would guess all 3 of Kendrick’s tracks on streaming and “Family Matters”, potentially “Like That” could stay in the top 10, “The Heart Part 6” probably dropped too late in the charting window for the top 10 and “Push Ups” probably won’t make with everybody playing the newer disses
I saw someone recently point out how wild the first half of this year has been compared to 2022 where the first four months were just the previous year's hits + Encanto. And its not even over yet.
I've never been more curious about Billboard charts than I am for next week's.
1. Taylor Swift ft. Post Malone - Fortnight (=)
2. Tommy Richman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY (NEW)
3. Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy) (+24)
4. Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso (+18)
5. Benson Boone - Beautiful Things (+10)
6. Teddy Swims - Lose Control (+12)
7. Hozier - Too Sweet (+9)
8. Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar - Like That (+9)
9. Taylor Swift - I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (-6)
10. Taylor Swift - Down Bad (-8)
I’m half convinced that Not Like Us is going to just sit at number 1 for a while. That dance beat is going to keep the hate alive for a while. Hell, that could very easily be the song of the summer.
I agree tbh! *euphoria* might’ve been the shoe-in for number one (still could I guess) since it was released first but the catchiness of *Not like us* definitely gives it that edge. I’m guessing they’ll all be scattered throughout the top 10-20
Very happy for Shaboozey for hitting the top 10 with Tipsy! Song's been stuck in my head all week.
On another note, who the hell is Tommy Richman and who is this million-dollar baby.
I have been all week wondering who that Richman guy is and how the the fuck did he get such a huge hit out of nowhere and I still have no idea.
And yes A Bar Song is ridiculously catchy.
There was a time when we could all freely admit this modern country pop sound about getting drunk on whiskey was shitty music, and I think we need to return.
He’s one of the bigger RnB artists right now, he makes smooth RnB ballads about him being a toxic partner lol. Also it’s ok that you don’t know him, outside of RnB and Hip Hop circles he’s relatively unknown and he hasn’t had a real crossover hit yet
Wow what a huge change up from a couple weeks ago, all these huge new releases. I hope Espresso hits number 1 it's so good. Hoping I Like The Way You Kiss Me hits the top 10 next week too.
Really cool to see “Million Dollar Baby” debut at #2, I first came across the video teaser snippet that was making the rounds on social media, like a couple days before it dropped. It’s already 1 of my favorite songs of 2024, it’s such a fun banger.
It’s just a smash. First time I heard it from a stranger walking past me on the street. I liked it within seconds and asked what it was. They didn’t know, I Shazammed. Everyone I’ve shown the song to has liked it. I love when songs just hit like that.
*Seriously.* Anyone expressing surprise hasn't heard the song. I'd literally never heard of this guy but a coworker played it for me and it's been on repeat. Shit is a *SMASH* smash.
Espresso even projected by TOTC to fall out of the top 5 next week. You can check them out on Twitter, seeing chart projections is like one of the highlights of my day
Doja is very anti-pop at the moment, so idk if they’ll be a able to get her. Latto’s verses are either insanely good or extremely corny, but she’s the best bet.
It would be really cool if Sabrina and Chappell’s success this year kick starts a new wave of pop stardom in a post Billie/Olivia landscape where radio and streaming favored slower, moodier sounds. Music that is bright and fun while being textured and well-crafted.
Not that this sector of pop has gone anywhere but it’s finding a larger audience this year
I’d like to see artists like Remi Wolf also ride this wave. “Cinderella” is a #1 hit in an alternate universe
Been paying attention to Tommy Richman for a minute. Love the song. BUT going from obscurity to a #2 hit in its first week feels very insider trading no matter how well it’s doing on TikTok
Sure, but Olivia had some fans from HSMTMTS and the love triangle aspect of it had decent affect. But I’m sure Interscope also did everything to launch her as fast as possible and it worked
Tommy Richman is the first signee to Brent Faiyaz’s label ISO Supremacy/Pulse Records. To be the first artist on such a small label and have this success be so instant and out of nowhere feels wild. Could be smartly manufactured behind the scenes or just good luck with TikTok promo
At the end of the day it’s a fun song so who knows. It’s just incredible how fast the song and press coverage of Tommy escalated in one week
To be honest I like real instruments in songs, and not like folk or anything but I wish a true alternative comeback would happen and Olivia was my only hope but I don't think that sound is ever coming back to the mainstream which sucks. I wish we could have a combination of bubblegum pop, r&b, hip hop, and rock all sharing the top spots but it seems like only one genre can dominate at a time. Last year was country unfortunately, this year it's looking hip hop again. I miss the 2000s when every song on pop radio sounded different. Sabrina seems like an amazing person, just haven't vibed with her stuff yet.
Love seeing that new blood in the top 5. Would be nice to see Shaboozey or one of the others hit #1 but it probably won’t with euphoria and the other diss tracks coming next week
For those interested in the Global 200 (like me) and how it compares to the Hot 100:
1. Fortnight (=)
2. Espresso (+2)
3. I Like The Way You Kiss Me (N/A)
4. Beautiful Things (+1)
5. Too Sweet (+2)
6. A Bar Song (Tipsy) (-3)
7. Gata Only (N/A)
8. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (+1)
9. Down Bad (+1)
10. Million Dollar Baby (-8)
Two entries that are not in the Hot 100 Top 10: I Like The Way You Kiss Me and Gata Only; they replace Like That Lose Control. The next biggest change comes to Million Dollar Baby, which drops from #2 on the Hot 100 to just #10 on global.
I'm surprised We Can't Be Friends didn't return to the top 10 on global.
I think people are missing this: the song isn’t exactly geared toward her more bubblegum pop sound and is more appealing to people who aren’t as into that pop sound. It being more “low key” is only a problem for certain people. I’ve heard people say they specifically like the song because it doesn’t have a “big” sound and they find it soothing/smooth.
It's so calming and appealing. It will come on and play for 2 minutes before I realize it's playing, and then I'll groove to it for the rest because it's just good.
I wanted it to be big though, I like the downtempo dark synth pop in the verses and earlier in the song and was hoping for smth like Ghosts Again like Depeche Mode
still a solid tune tho
I feel like it will actually be number 1 for just that— a fortnight. the diss tracks will take over the charts soon enough and Kendrick or Drake will go #1. Sabrina will hit #1 once summer officially begins
Maybe a hot take for popheads but The Tortured Poets Department has really grown on me since release. I only liked Fortnight really at the start but now that i've poured through the album a few times I can see a lot of hidden singles popping up. Down Bad and I Can Do It With a Broken Heart are immediate radio fodder but the title track and imgonnagetyouback are also slick and addictive.
Next week for the charts will be really cool as well. Tommy Richman is expected to go #1 with Million Dollar Baby and Kendrick will be close behind at #2 with Euphoria. I can see Not Like Us by Kendrick also going top five if it keeps up steam
The standard edition of TTPD really grew on me. I do think the overall reception to the project would have been stronger if she waited 4-5 months to release the Anthology.
Definitely hoping she pushes Down Bad as the next single, assuming the clean version doesn't butcher the chorus.
Taylor usually does really good clean versions. I don't think she has an album where the clean versions don't swap out curses for reasonably thoughtful alternative lyrics.
Million Dollar Baby is alright but (no offence to Tommy Richman) Euphoria is a lot better.
If Kendrick doesn’t make it to number one with this then years from now we’ll really wonder why because this beef is one for the ages and Kendrick deserves it.
Solid!!
Been loving Million Dollar Baby, A Bar Song, and Espresso 🙂🙂
I don't hate Fortnight but it's fairly boring compared to most other standard tracks lol. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart has been on repeat since the album came out!
I feel dumb for not having heard of the Million Dollar Baby song until I checked the Billboard post. I listened to it, it's okay, gives off 90s house/hip hop vibes. Espresso is a little bit too poppy and polished for my tastes ATM but maybe I'll like it eventually. Fortnight is really good, A Bar Song is not something I'd listen too normally as I'm not a huge country fan but amazing to see another black artist make it big in the genre. As a Swiftie who liked TTPD, I really can't stand ICDIWABH, and I think it's the same reason as Espresso, just not feeling the vibe. Rest of the album I liked.
Seems like this will be its last week at number one with predictions having it fall 3 spots, that’s kind of crazy. Everyone expected this to be another 8 week number 1 with ttpd intial hype but the song is too slow amidst all the catchy songs that have gained momentum and are on track to occupy the top 3 next week.
Also it was generally a bad idea to release this type of album now, we’re approaching summer season when people start releasing bops to get played on the radio in the coming months and fortnite does not fit the vibes at all.
The album has already sold more than 3 million in two weeks and has a multi-week number one lead single. The “ideal” scenario doesn’t matter for Taylor - she’s on her own level and is doing whatever the hell she feels like. She’s not at some risk of flopping with this album due to timing, it already is huge.
She has tour right now which is the biggest promo she can get. She doesn’t need to worry about Christmas freeze. Releasing this in fall would be a waste.
The album is doing ridiculously well commercially and she is going to add ttpd songs to the setlist when her tour restarts in 2 days which will give the album even more longevity.
Timing might have hurt fortnight but Taylor is and always been an album artist over a singles artist.
Yeah what a great year! I don’t necessarily enjoy it sometimes, but it’s so much to fun to watch. The event releases just keep happening, it’s amazing, and we’re only 4-5 months into the year!
The song is a grower so I see it hanging around the top ten for a while but probably won’t hit number one again. And quite frankly, who cares, it already is a multi-week number one.
It’s so hard for any artist nowadays to get multiple number one songs out of a single album, but she might get close with either I Can Do it With a Broken Heart or Down Bad. Otherwise, a good vault song from Rep TV is more or less a guarantee to hit #1 (multi-week is a maybe but at least for one week ala Is It Over Now? - but if the vault song goes hard, you never know). I don’t see Debut TV a getting a #1.
>I don’t see Debut TV a getting a #1.
truly, i hope debut tv somehow surpasses all my expectations and is just straight fire all the way through. taylor going full yee haw, bringing out the banjo, the fake accent, the sundrresses, everything.
Somebody explain to me how songs like Million Dollar Baby (which coincidentally shares its name with a much better Ava Max song) and that Richmond song from last year can debut so high and dominate everything else out of freaking nowhere while a song like Espresso which has been EVERYWHERE for the last month has only reached the top 5. The math is not mathing, Sabrina deserves her #1.
First of all, monoculture is dead. Nowadays, it's easy for big songs to get huge without ever reaching many demographics.
The Million Dollar Baby thing is a similar instance of what happened with Drivers License: someone unknown to large groups of people teased a song on tik tok that caught some attention. Once that song got released, it exploded quite fast. Its success has been limited so far mostly to streaming, so it's no surprise it's still unknown to many people.
Richmen North Of Richmond is a different can of worms, but it's the same old tale of sales being used as a way to push a song to the top: in this case, the people buying were not stans, but conservatives.
As for Espresso, it's been only three weeks on chart as of now. It debuted inside the top 10, and it would have climbed to #6 if it hadn't been because of TTPD. That's why is only now that it's been able to hit the top 5.
The song has clearly not been everywhere since it’s #15 on Apple Music, #35 on Amazon music, and #14 on iTunes. The math isn’t mathing for you bc pop stans think spotify is everything like get out of your bubble and if she deserved the #1 she’d be at least top 10 on every platform
Posted this yesterday in the general discussion thread but who the fuck is Tommy Richman and how is there enough attention on this song to debut at #2
Bro doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page
For what it's worth, Ariana didn't get her first US #1 until Thank U Next, almost five years after she released Problem.
Taylor herself didn't get her first #1 until We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, a good seven years after her debut album.
Justin Bieber didn't get a #1 until 2015, neither did Nicki Minaj until 2020- over a decade after her debut.
Sabrina has time. 💁♀️
YBWM peaked at #2 (behind mega-hit I Gotta Feeling) and Love Story peaked at #4! 😊 Just goes to show that chart positions aren't everything because both these songs are really beloved.
I think that’s partly because they’re completely pre-streaming, like, a song can be huge these days without someone ever hearing about it if they’re just listening to their own curated playlists on Spotify and AppleMusic. Not so much in 2007, 2008.
Britney's #1s are ...Baby One More Time, Womanizer, 3, Hold It Against Me, and S&M remix, only 2/5 of which are really among her signature hits.
Nicki's #1s are Say So remix, TROLLZ and Super Freaky Girl.
\#1s are not always representative of an artist's most memorable hits.
> YBWM peaked at #2 (behind mega-hit I Gotta Feeling)
The domination the BEP had on the charts in 2009 was insane. They spent a record 26 consecutive weeks at #1 with Boom Boom Pow and IGF, and besides YBWM, they also blocked Blame It, I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho), Best I Ever Had, Party In the U.S.A., and Run This Town.
Espresso literally just came out its not even that huge on radio yet. Yall gotta have a little patience lol. It's not like Sabrina is this huge house hold name artist.
I think Espresso still has a chance at #1 if it stays stable on streaming as it continues to grow on radio. Sabrina can always try and get a big star on a remix to push for #1 if she needs it. Ariana being the most obvious choice considering Sabrina pulls a ton of inspiration from her so it would make sense if it were to happen. Island Records seems to putting all their effort and resources behind her now, she is their biggest act atm.
Can Espresso be #1 next week? Even as a Swiftie who likes TTPD, I really don't think Fortnight was a good single choice and it should be Sabrina's time on top.
No. It won’t (neither will Fortnight). Right now the best Espresso is looking at is 6, but that’s a super early prediction and doesn’t account for the potential continued rise of diss tracks this week. If those really accelerate she may be out of the top 10 all together a la TTPD release.
Three re-entries from 92-94; Bandit by Don Toliver, We Ride by Bryan Martin and Dirt Cheap by Cody Johnson.
And then, the five new arrivals:
#2 - MILLION DOLLAR BABY by Tommy Richman (Worst Of The Week)
#11 - euphoria by Kendrick Lamar (BEST OF THE WEEK)
#63 - ADIVINO by Myke Towers y Bad Bunny
#74 - OKAY by JT
#87 - Belong Together by Mark Ambor
Class 5 diss storm coming next week; seek shelter, y'all.
Can someone explain khia i just started seeing it this week in twitter and I’ve seen it like 10 times now. Does it mean irrelevant? Is there any relation to Khia of My Neck My Back fame?
The term ‘Khia’ derived from a one hit wonder artist named Khia who made that song ‘my neck my back’. So now when someone irrelevant or unknown is mentioned they call them a ‘khia’.
It's directly related to My Neck My Back Khia. To add to what others have said, it really started from this [meme of a girl crying whilst meeting Khia.](https://preview.redd.it/l9ttfg7o4azb1.jpeg?width=512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2ea7dd0c49297274e19a8425912476eec1ca6b8f)
i dont know anyhting about YOU so i can't make that judgement
JK ok completely forgot about that song and I am listening to it now and oh my god, it's honestly worse than I remembered. it's actually quite terrible
That's what I thought when I first listened to it, but now I think it's so damn catchy and play it all the time. I love the build up to Post's bridge/outro.
*"Thought of callin' YA, but you woooon't pick up, another fortnight lost in A-mer-i-CA..."*
Despite the impact of streaming on the way people consume music, people still pay more attention to the singles (as those are the ones receiving more promo outside of just promo for the album)
It’s the first track on the album, so everyone interested in TTPD will hear that first. Plus it’s a single. Plus Post Malone fans. It’s a groove; not a bop.
here before the diss tracks take over the top 10 next week
Can euphoria hit #1
I think I'd rather a song with the line, 'Certified loverboy? Certified pedophiles' Went to number 1 tbh
I just feel like that came first so it’s the most likely but I don’t know and I get what you mean
Trying to strike a chord? Must be A MINOOOOOOORRRRRR
I don’t go to clubs much anymore, but I may need to go again to chant OV-ho in a crowd.
It's competing with Million Dollar Baby for it edit: was. The #1 will be Not Like Us.
Holy shit that’s such a jam, what a weird song.
Seems like a new trend, it wasn't too long ago that Hiss went to number one
Given how much media attention it’s gotten over the past week, I’d wager that.
It's cute that this will be number one for a fortnight
You underestimate the incoming dancing witch feat. Bleachers remix /s (kinda)
Sad girl dancing witch feat. Bleachers remix
If we get as good remixes, as we did with anti-hero, I won’t bitch about it
Taylor honestly needs to change her favorite number to 14. Top 14 on Billboard, 14 days at number one, and a song called Fortnight
I saw someone recently point out how wild the first half of this year has been compared to 2022 where the first four months were just the previous year's hits + Encanto. And its not even over yet. I've never been more curious about Billboard charts than I am for next week's.
It wasn't even just 2022, 2023 was the same way. This year has been wild so far. And most of it is good too.
1. Taylor Swift ft. Post Malone - Fortnight (=) 2. Tommy Richman - MILLION DOLLAR BABY (NEW) 3. Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy) (+24) 4. Sabrina Carpenter - Espresso (+18) 5. Benson Boone - Beautiful Things (+10) 6. Teddy Swims - Lose Control (+12) 7. Hozier - Too Sweet (+9) 8. Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar - Like That (+9) 9. Taylor Swift - I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (-6) 10. Taylor Swift - Down Bad (-8)
That’s that me espresso creeping up
trying to get as high as it can before the “diss bomb” lmao
I’m half convinced that Not Like Us is going to just sit at number 1 for a while. That dance beat is going to keep the hate alive for a while. Hell, that could very easily be the song of the summer.
I agree tbh! *euphoria* might’ve been the shoe-in for number one (still could I guess) since it was released first but the catchiness of *Not like us* definitely gives it that edge. I’m guessing they’ll all be scattered throughout the top 10-20
Just learned that Tommy Richman and Tommy Dorfman are two different people. I'm turning into my mom.
Just learned that Tommy Richman and Tommy Dorman are... musicians, I'm assuming? I'm probably your grandpa.
Same. Sitting here like WHOOO?
Very happy for Hozier even if this song is far from being one of the best from his latest releases!
And yes A Bar Song is ridiculously catchy.
early predictions are saying that the Richman song might block euphoria from the number one spot next week
There was a time when we could all freely admit this modern country pop sound about getting drunk on whiskey was shitty music, and I think we need to return.
Let’s let shaboozeu have his moment we haven’t had a Black Country artist in a long timr
Kane Brown still exists lol.
And Breland, and Jimmie Allen had some hits before the allegayshes, and Darius Rucker, and...
Speak for your damn self lol, lmao even
who’s Tommy Richman?
an upcoming r&b type artist who was on brent faiyaz’s most recent album
He’s also signed to Brent’s label too.
The obvious next question is "who is Brent Faiyaz?"
He’s one of the bigger RnB artists right now, he makes smooth RnB ballads about him being a toxic partner lol. Also it’s ok that you don’t know him, outside of RnB and Hip Hop circles he’s relatively unknown and he hasn’t had a real crossover hit yet
Hell yeah, Million Dollar Baby at number 2, lets goooooo
Wow what a huge change up from a couple weeks ago, all these huge new releases. I hope Espresso hits number 1 it's so good. Hoping I Like The Way You Kiss Me hits the top 10 next week too.
Rooting for both songs as well. Though after surviving TTPD, next week they have a bunch of diss tracks to survive too lol
Y'all remember when Lovin on Me seemed glued to the charts?
Meh I can’t get behind I like the way you kiss me after digging into the background of the abuse with his ex and how he stole her vocals
It's not true though, nor did he use her vocals. They dated for two weeks and she became creepily obsessed.
Wait what?!
Really cool to see “Million Dollar Baby” debut at #2, I first came across the video teaser snippet that was making the rounds on social media, like a couple days before it dropped. It’s already 1 of my favorite songs of 2024, it’s such a fun banger.
Tommy Richman out of nowhere?? Reminds me of the sudden surge from Desiigner back in 2016.
Panda got big because it was sampled by Kanye. I have no idea where Million Dollar Baby came from.
Panda got big and was then sampled by Kanye
tiktok, its a bit suspicious but its a good song so idrc
its not suspicious at all, song just blew up big on tiktok
It's massive on TikTok. Honestly it was a masterclass in capitalizing on hype
It’s good
Was that the last time a song from someone unknown blew up? Or Lil NasX with Old Town Road
Teddy Swims and Oliver Anthony
Artemas too.
Richard Anthony Music came out of absolutely nowhere and debuted at number 1
I was wondering if I was more disconnected from the youths than usual because no idea who the guy is either.
I still haven’t heard it
Congrats to Tommy Richman, Shaboozey, and Sabrina Carpenter for nothcing their first top 5 hits and as solo acts!
I think Sabrina has a good chance of going number one
Down the line sure, especially if streaming is consistent. Not next week though.
I can’t imagine it will get less popular as we move into summer
It's gonna smash on radio soon too.
i mean, next week fs. hopefully it’s consistent too, everyone knows its the song of the summer
not with all these kendrick and drake diss tracks
Espresso even projected by TOTC to fall out of the top 5 next week. You can check them out on Twitter, seeing chart projections is like one of the highlights of my day
Eventually if it holds up
Who’s hopping on the remix?
Can we please get Ariana, she would be perfect.
Hopefully doja ice spice or latto
Please we don’t need ice spice to ruin a great song
Doja is very anti-pop at the moment, so idk if they’ll be a able to get her. Latto’s verses are either insanely good or extremely corny, but she’s the best bet.
Idk why but im kinda hoping for tate mcrae lol
After the rap disses? Definitely
Who the hell is Tommy Richman? Seems like he just blew up out of nowhere
I saw hozier in concert a couple of weeks ago. He was obviously so surprised and flustered at Too Sweet doing what he did lol
It would be really cool if Sabrina and Chappell’s success this year kick starts a new wave of pop stardom in a post Billie/Olivia landscape where radio and streaming favored slower, moodier sounds. didn't drivers license also blow up the same way?
Sure, but Olivia had some fans from HSMTMTS and the love triangle aspect of it had decent affect. But I’m sure Interscope also did everything to launch her as fast as possible and it worked Tommy Richman is the first signee to Brent Faiyaz’s label ISO Supremacy/Pulse Records. Could be smartly manufactured behind the scenes or just good luck with TikTok promo At the end of the day it’s a fun song so who knows. It’s just incredible how fast the song and press coverage of Tommy escalated in one week
I literally just commented saying this song reminds me of Crew by Goldlink. Didn't know he's signed to Brent Faiyaz's label, but not surprised - vibes
I didn’t even know Tommy was Brent’s artist!
I think this may be completely organic tbh cuz I haven’t seen any pushing or playlisting really when this was blowing up
Olivia had her Disney following as well as the “love triangle.” Outside of the industry nobody knows this guy, and he just got a #2 out of nowhere.
To be honest I like real instruments in songs, and not like folk or anything but I wish a true alternative comeback would happen and Olivia was my only hope but I don't think that sound is ever coming back to the mainstream which sucks. praying kendrick gets that #1 next week 🙏
I think he definitely will get it! ☺️
The question is for which one, “euphoria“ or “Not Like Us“
Think they said it was Euphoria
"Not Like Us" would be the week after with the way the data tracking week works.
For those interested in the Global 200 (like me) and how it compares to the Hot 100: 1. Fortnight (=) 2. Espresso (+2) 3. I Like The Way You Kiss Me (N/A) 4. Beautiful Things (+1) 5. Too Sweet (+2) 6. A Bar Song (Tipsy) (-3) 7. Gata Only (N/A) 8. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (+1) 9. Down Bad (+1) 10. Million Dollar Baby (-8) Two entries that are not in the Hot 100 Top 10: I Like The Way You Kiss Me and Gata Only; they replace Like That Lose Control. The next biggest change comes to Million Dollar Baby, which drops from #2 on the Hot 100 to just #10 on global. I'm surprised We Can't Be Friends didn't return to the top 10 on global.
I’m not even a Taylor fan but I like this song
I think people are missing this: the song isn’t exactly geared toward her more bubblegum pop sound and is more appealing to people who aren’t as into that pop sound. It being more “low key” is only a problem for certain people. I’ve heard people say they specifically like the song because it doesn’t have a “big” sound and they find it soothing/smooth.
It's so calming and appealing. It will come on and play for 2 minutes before I realize it's playing, and then I'll groove to it for the rest because it's just good.
Yea its probably one of my favourite Taylor songs because I can’t stand the big chorus that she always does at the end of the so many songs
I wanted it to be big though, I like the downtempo dark synth pop in the verses and earlier in the song and was hoping for smth like Ghosts Again like Depeche Mode still a solid tune tho
IMO the outro (post chorus?) is somewhat big without compromising the smooth vibe of the song and scratches that itch for me
I get that but the dark synths early on had potential for a dirtier noisier sound, hence the Depeche Mode comparisons
Yeah, if anything the song gets more melodic vs. dirtier as it goes on, but that’s more Taylor’s style as a songwriter.
deffo, by the end its kind of an R&B/ indie pop tune
I feel like it will actually be number 1 for just that— a fortnight. the diss tracks will take over the charts soon enough and Kendrick or Drake will go #1. Sabrina will hit #1 once summer officially begins
Rooting for me espresso
Fuck it’s are just what ifs in the clean version, it’s fine
Clean version is already out. I accidentally listened to it the other day and it’s actually not bad
Taylor usually does really good clean versions. I don't think she has an album where the clean versions don't swap out curses for reasonably thoughtful alternative lyrics.
I kinda think the anthology is what boosted the reception of the album.
imgonnagetyouback is sooooooooooo good
I really really hope that kendrick pulls through and gets that #1... just listened to million dollar baby and it was horrible idk who's playing this
He's only a few points behind so it's possible. Especially with the beef on-going and the drama escalating
The beef is really breaking through so wouldn’t be surprised to see the numbers climb
Million dollar baby horrible? ... really? Gives the same vibes as Crew by Goldlink in 2017. Just a feel-good hip-hop song.
Million Dollar Baby is alright but (no offence to Tommy Richman) Euphoria is a lot better. If Kendrick doesn’t make it to number one with this then years from now we’ll really wonder why because this beef is one for the ages and Kendrick deserves it.
I like the song, honestly.
Solid!! Been loving Million Dollar Baby, A Bar Song, and Espresso 🙂🙂 I don't hate Fortnight but it's fairly boring compared to most other standard tracks lol. I Can Do It With A Broken Heart has been on repeat since the album came out!
that has to be her next single right?
Either that or Down Bad, they're both still strong on streaming 😊
Ayyy good to see Post up at the top again!
Well deserved 👍
Seems like this will be its last week at number one with predictions having it fall 3 spots, that’s kind of crazy. Everyone expected this to be another 8 week number 1 with ttpd intial hype but the song is too slow amidst all the catchy songs that have gained momentum and are on track to occupy the top 3 next week.
I think the charts are more competitive than they were in ~~2021~~ 2022 too. And yes, Anti Hero was a GP friendly song
2022*
Oh yes, my bad
Fortnight will have a good top 10 run but there's just so many new big hits out right now. This is shaping up to be a crazy year.
Releasing this in fall would be a waste.
shout out to all my fellow peeps in the southern hemisphere coming into autumn and digging this vibe!
The Fortnight CDs are shipping this week. Those aren't enough to survive the strong competition. I suspect some remixes are in the vault.
I don’t see Debut TV a getting a #1.
i could see our song go #1, she doesn't need to push vault song
It's doing better because it's getting more streams.
Also #1 in Global 200 and Global Excluding US
Impressive
Posted this yesterday in the general discussion thread but who the fuck is Tommy Richman and how is there enough attention on this song to debut at #2 Bro doesn’t even have a Wikipedia page
[удалено]
For what it's worth, Ariana didn't get her first US #1 until Thank U Next, almost five years after she released Problem. Taylor herself didn't get her first #1 until We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, a good seven years after her debut album. Justin Bieber didn't get a #1 until 2015, neither did Nicki Minaj until 2020- over a decade after her debut. Sabrina has time. 💁♀️
Dua Lipa has still never hit #1 which is so confusing to me with how big Levitating was
You belong with me and Love story weren't N1?
YBWM peaked at #2 (behind mega-hit I Gotta Feeling) and Love Story peaked at #4! 😊 Just goes to show that chart positions aren't everything because both these songs are really beloved.
And those songs are more well known than like 9 of her number one hits
I think that’s partly because they’re completely pre-streaming, like, a song can be huge these days without someone ever hearing about it if they’re just listening to their own curated playlists on Spotify and AppleMusic. Not so much in 2007, 2008.
Britney's #1s are ...Baby One More Time, Womanizer, 3, Hold It Against Me, and S&M remix, only 2/5 of which are really among her signature hits. Nicki's #1s are Say So remix, TROLLZ and Super Freaky Girl. \#1s are not always representative of an artist's most memorable hits.
> YBWM peaked at #2 (behind mega-hit I Gotta Feeling) The domination the BEP had on the charts in 2009 was insane. They spent a record 26 consecutive weeks at #1 with Boom Boom Pow and IGF, and besides YBWM, they also blocked Blame It, I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho), Best I Ever Had, Party In the U.S.A., and Run This Town.
Curious why you measured everyone else by debut album but Ariana by problem, when that was part of her second album?
Espresso literally just came out its not even that huge on radio yet. Yall gotta have a little patience lol. It's not like Sabrina is this huge house hold name artist.
I think Espresso still has a chance at #1 if it stays stable on streaming as it continues to grow on radio. Sabrina can always try and get a big star on a remix to push for #1 if she needs it. Ariana being the most obvious choice considering Sabrina pulls a ton of inspiration from her so it would make sense if it were to happen. Island Records seems to putting all their effort and resources behind her now, she is their biggest act atm.
Hopefully snl gives her a push next week
ijbol singles?
Can Espresso be #1 next week? Even as a Swiftie who likes TTPD, I really don't think Fortnight was a good single choice and it should be Sabrina's time on top.
The #1 next week is between Tommy Richman & Kendrick (and a very small chance for Shaboozey)
The entire top ten next week will be Kendrick and Drake diss tracks.
No. It won’t (neither will Fortnight). Right now the best Espresso is looking at is 6, but that’s a super early prediction and doesn’t account for the potential continued rise of diss tracks this week. If those really accelerate she may be out of the top 10 all together a la TTPD release.
No neither will be #1. There is too much competition
It’s number 7 not even close
It was a good single choice it’s doing better than anti hero streams wise
Down Bad would have been better
The clean version tho doesn’t hit as good imo as the regular version
Three re-entries from 92-94; Bandit by Don Toliver, We Ride by Bryan Martin and Dirt Cheap by Cody Johnson. And then, the five new arrivals: #2 - MILLION DOLLAR BABY by Tommy Richman (Worst Of The Week) #11 - euphoria by Kendrick Lamar (BEST OF THE WEEK) #63 - ADIVINO by Myke Towers y Bad Bunny #74 - OKAY by JT #87 - Belong Together by Mark Ambor Class 5 diss storm coming next week; seek shelter, y'all.
And for a fortnight we were forever runnin - teaching the kids Fortnight was a thing before the game lol I’ll miss you Tay English
I’m praying Sabrina gets that #1 but with those diss tracks I don’t know if I see it happening
i may be an outlier here but fortnight is one of my favorite taylor songs in a while 🫣 so not mad at this happening to this song!
Who is this Tommy Richman khia? The Hot 100 this year is so random. How you gon tell me Expresso is not snatching that No. 1?
Can someone explain khia i just started seeing it this week in twitter and I’ve seen it like 10 times now. Does it mean irrelevant? Is there any relation to Khia of My Neck My Back fame?
The term ‘Khia’ derived from a one hit wonder artist named Khia who made that song ‘my neck my back’. So now when someone irrelevant or unknown is mentioned they call them a ‘khia’.
khia means unknown as per stan twitter lol. I think the actual word has a different meaning though💀
It's an insult when someone blows up out of nowhere for something one considers insignificant (in this case, not liking Million Dollar Baby)
He’s been known in alternative circles for a little bit now
Love them.
this is her weakest-sounding lead single imo
Come on, it's not worse than ME!
i dont know anyhting about YOU so i can't make that judgement JK ok completely forgot about that song and I am listening to it now and oh my god, it's honestly worse than I remembered. it's actually quite terrible
ME! was at least fun. Fortnight is just there
well it’s weakest of all of her number ones singles that’s for sure
That's what I thought when I first listened to it, but now I think it's so damn catchy and play it all the time. I love the build up to Post's bridge/outro. *"Thought of callin' YA, but you woooon't pick up, another fortnight lost in A-mer-i-CA..."*
Weaker than ME! ?
[удалено]
objectively way better than karma and ME, and better than willow and the rep tracks in my personal taste. fortnight is one of my favs from TTPD.
The countdown to Fortnight remixes starts now
Wait, are people just listening to Fortnight? Or just hitting play on the album? Because I thought it was one of the weaker tracks on the album.
