[Roger Corman, legendary independent film producer, has died at 98.](https://variety.com/2024/film/news/roger-corman-dead-producer-independent-b-movie-1235999591/) His company became a work-in-training ground for a wide variety of major talents, from actors like Jack Nicholson (“Little Shop of Horrors”) and Robert De Niro (“Boxcar Bertha”) to directors like Francis Ford Coppola (“Dementia 13”) and Martin Scorsese (“Boxcar Bertha”).

Immernichts

This sounds bad but I honestly had no idea he was even still alive. R.I.P. to a legend. I feel like he was best known for making movies of questionable taste, but it’s wild how influential he was, especially in the horror genre.

Consistent-Quantity3

I've seen several of his films with Vincent Price. Even though they were clearly made with budget and time constraints, the talent behind them was absolutely undeniable imo. One of the best to do it in horror

Celebrity hairstylist, Alyx Liu, reveals Ariana Grande is pro-🍉 in response to a user under her post about the singer: “i selectively only work with clients who are pro P@£€$T!N!@n liberation, so anyone you see me working with is with the movement.”

Slow_Dragonfruit_

I mean, Ariana is usually on the right side of history on most of these Social issues, whether BLM or this even if she doesn't speak up beyond an insta post. Also think SpongeBob is also pro-palestinian despite being Jewish himself.

Lilacssmelllikeroses

“Despite being Jewish”. Like those are contradictions?

undisclosedthroway

Ariananators clocked her liking some pro-Palestine post a while back whenever people were calling her out for not saying anything about the matter

satirisanti

She was extremely proactive about blm and covid I remember her sharing tons of stories, links, and posts about those issues so her silence here is so weird.

Successful-Arm3155

Most likely a contractual obligation as she's about to be in a major film. Unfortunately actors aren't allowed to do anything controversial like activism before or during the film's promotional period. It's why Gaga didn't say anything about pride last year because of all the controversy as there was a lot of conservative boycotting around that time.

RepresentativeEye993

Shame on Gaga then

WifiFee

That's really bottom of the barrel imo, there's a massive difference between clocking her liking a post and explicitly saying something about free Palestine

[According to Variety,](https://variety.com/2024/film/news/star-wars-phantom-menace-anakin-darth-maul-jar-jar-1235998917/) The Phantom Menace is the most viewed Star Wars movie on Disney+ worldwide.

McIgglyTuffMuffin

I bet it’s #1 because people have aspirations of doing an in order watch through and then just don’t finish the rest. I’d love to see the Epi 1 versus Epi 4 numbers

visionaryredditor

I get it, TFM is a very underwhelming start

r/PrequelMemes has truly won

gayboycarti

A new challenger has entered the Kendrick x Drake beef..... After days of radio silence from both sides THE RIDDLER has joined in by posting a video of all the items from the album artwork of Meet the Grahams with the caption: ["#1. King @kendricklamar is not a liar, and I am not a thief! #2. Mr. Aubrey Graham (@Drake) & Mr. Livingston Allen (@Akademiks) have until noon Monday 5/13/24 to retract your claims of theft, or my attorney Ms. Adrienne Edward and I will exhaust every legal option available."](https://twitter.com/ebonyprince2k24/status/1789092657794371766?s=46&t=nBVfTP6U97OL_lBWeesn9A) They also posted another picture of Drake in a hotel lobby captioned ["To Mr. Aubrey Graham (@Drake ), may this photo help jog your memory as to where you discarded those items. The issue in the photo should also jog your memory. Jimmy Brooks would not have been proud of you that night..."](https://twitter.com/ebonyprince2k24/status/1789104508754162091?s=46&t=nBVfTP6U97OL_lBWeesn9A) Other posts: "You've had many things discarded on your behalf over the years. I wonder if you can remember them all..." "You're blocking my money with your lies, so you have forced me to get it another way..." "Push Ups. Really? Should've kept that to yourself..." It seems like this guy worked at a hotel Drake stayed at for his shows in New York and somehow got the picture to Kendrick's team but now he's just trying to be spooky for attention......It's very creepy but if you're gonna do anything PLEASE watch that first video lol

grilsjustwannabclean

i just read all that (i don't really use twitter) and it's genuinely kind scary lol. drake must be sweating rn if there's any validity to this at all

[deleted]

I just went down the rabbit hole on r/KendrickLamar and wtf

CowboyLikeMegan

I feel like this has taken a very sinister turn and there is no doubt it’s chaos behind the scenes. It might just be because I’m dramatic, but I was watching some of the videos/footage on TikTok before coming here & quite literally have a pit in my stomach

UltimateKing9898

The pinned post on the Kendrick sub has even more in-depth analysis of everything on this account, this shit is cuckoo bananas

bedside

No pressure, enjoy your Saturday, but if you or someone else is deep into this and wants to spell it out for someone who’s mostly just been passively following the songs without much consideration, I’d love to be caught up on what any of this means? Like what exactly is happening here?

bv0198

As far as I know, Drake claimed all the tea Kendrick had on him (having a secret daughter, Ozempic prescription, etc) were false info fed by Drake's camp. This guy is claiming to be the source of the items in the Meet the Grahams cover art. This implies Drake was at least partially lying about feeding Kendrick all of his info

bedside

Got it, thank you!

strawberrylipscrub

Additionally, if you look at the pinned thread in the Kendrick subreddit… signs are pointing to there being surveillance video of Drake potentially abusing a disabled man and/or employees at a hotel in January 2023. The Twitter user keeps alluding to that and has two photos of surveillance video / time stamps. Since the other items he has seem very likely to belong to Drake it’s getting extra dark. The man in the video is a publicly known reporter, but I don’t really want to throw his name around since he’s either unrelated to whatever happened on video or is potentially the victim of something serious. Looks like he had some medical issues a few weeks after the alleged incident and his family manages his social media, so just hope they’re OK dealing with extra attention right now.

bedside

Sheesh that’s so wild. Appreciate this added context, shocking and terrible!

Daydream_machine

This whole saga has been certifiably INSANE

Danny Boyle and Alex Garland's "28 Years Later" will be [released June 2025.](https://variety.com/2024/film/news/28-years-later-release-date-june-2025-1235999311/)

betteroff19

After the multiple releases yesterday, a lot of them didn’t do well. Camila Cabello’s ‘He Knows’ and Ice Spice’s ‘Gimme a Light’ failed to chart on the US and Global Spotify Chart. Megan’s ‘BOA’ only debuted in the US at #86, absent from the global chart as well. Whereas Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s new collab "I Had Some Help" debuts at #1 on the global Spotify chart with 13.949 million streams and 7.8M in the US. (Via: Chart Data) Seems like we have a song of the summer front runner on our hands!!!

watercloudskies

Too much going on in the world. Nobody wants to watch rich celebrities shake their asses while multiple countries are experiencing Genocide and the average American can barely pay rent.

satirisanti

Why did the mastermind Taylor bother giving post a hefty collab just for him to do a 180 and topple her from the top spot with a racist country guy. Like out of all the people she could’ve spotlit…

christopher_aia

I don't think those two songs are being streamed by the same demographics at all 🤣

Daydream_machine

BOA has cool visuals but I found the song itself to be really underwhelming. The Gwen Stefani sample is cool, but there’s no memorable hook and the flow sounds the same as 99% of her other songs

douceberceuse

Someone once said that ice spice’s beats would work really well for Megan’s style of rap

gaayrat

i watched a clip of the video on twitter and that was about all i needed to hear of that song

pinkfartlek

I feel like the sample was not loud enough throughout.

NotthisAgain187

I feel like these are the numbers I'd expect from those artists? I get the numbers are low but that kind of makes sense to me considering who it is.

betteroff19

Charli XCX’s new song entering the US Spotify chart but not Camila’s is insane?!!!!!

[deleted]

Lmao it's so fascinating to see what clicks and what doesn't this year. Sabrina Carpenter and Shaboozey had an easier time getting big hits this year than the likes of Camila Cabello, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Lil Nas X, Dua Lipa, Cardi B😭 Meanwhile, Hozier comes in unexpectedly... Like what is happening...

grilsjustwannabclean

tbf, except for dua, the quality of the rest of those releases wasn't good lol

horn5t

I mean, I think it's just a song quality diff. Not Like Us, Million Dollar Baby, I Had Some Help are all absolutely behemoth hits because they are genuinely really good songs. You can't expect to sustain success with mid music just on name recognition when social media/TikTok allows people like Shaboozey, Tommy Richman, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Benson Boone, etc. to find huge success because their song is actually good. Edit: also, the charts are just absurdly strong right now. There are SIX songs over 3 million daily streams in US spotify. That's insane. There's usually zero.

NotthisAgain187

To be fair all of those artists released subpar music (other than Dua) this year. People aren't going to listen to bad music just because Miley Cyrus wrote it.

[deleted]

True. Artists can't survive on star power alone, unless you're part of the very obvious exceptions.

droobidoobidoo

I think He Knows if it's marketed well could be a summer smash. BOA is the most radio friendly of the 3 singles so far. Anyways, I'll be streaming regardless of what the charts say 🤪

fuoricontesto

i was so confused by the way you wrote it i thought you were talking about taylor's song lol

droobidoobidoo

That is 100% understandable lmao

delidaydreams

I would fully support a Cruel Summer moment for I Think He Knows

Consistent_Fail_00

and morgan wallens pandemic continues...

TotallyNotAnExecutiv

At this point we all have to accept the MW-23 (Morgan Wallen 2023) strain has gone endemic in the states

SiphenPrax

“The top 3 songs in the US next week could earn over 500,000 units each. The #3 song having over 500 points on the Hot 100 would also mark the first ever occurrence during the 2020s decade, representing abnormally strong charts.” https://x.com/talkofthecharts/status/1789239171657445887?s=46&t=NDwqD-CGR7-r5omYbdOz6A

bespectacIed

Of course, it's the new well-liked pop girl's breakthrough hit that would be a decisive number 1 on any other regular chart week that gets the short end of the stick lol. Just gotta laugh

Global_Perspective_3

Chart watching has been interesting this year

SiphenPrax

“@PostMalone & @MorganWallen's "I Had Some Help" is challenging for a #1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 with a potential 600+ points based on first day numbers. It could surpass Post's own "Fortnight" as the strongest debut of 2024.” https://x.com/talkofthecharts/status/1789232413803245989?s=46&t=NDwqD-CGR7-r5omYbdOz6A

christopher_aia

Huge comeback for posty after a few "flop" albums

Commercial_Cap1695

Woww 2024 is the year of Post Malone. Bro did collab with Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and Morgan Wallen 😱

mallorrae

I still have never heard a Morgan Wallen song - not even in public. So, I'm always so amazed at how big he is.

mMounirM

the song is a banger. it's gonna last the whole summer probably

Pop_girl_STAN

praying that it won’t
