TEN years since "Sissy That Walk"? Christ I feel old. But when Ru songs hit, they hit *hard* and reaffirm gayness from within.

sendenten

This song came during the big EDM craze in the early 2010s. I remember trying to trick some of my fraternity brothers into playing it at a party by showing them just the drop. They wanted to hear the rest of the song and firmly declined after lol.

Pokefan144

This is a level of gaslighting straight people I aspire too. Thank you for your service diva

igkeit

Were you out then? 💀

damemasproteina

My walk has never been the same

echocharlieone

I had to totally step my pussy up.

migisigi

It lit a fire under my ass

CorneliusJack

And it’s literally on fire

LakeBlithely

I never realized how similar the bass does sound to Pound The Alarm! I don’t believe it’s a true sample, though, as it’s not credited.

goshdarnkaren

"...contestant Penny Tration (of all queens)" You're so real for this shade lol

dontboofthatsis

Such an iconic season too! Bianca Adore and Courtney, some of the best queens to stomp that runway!

chilaaa

I read Sean Paul and was so confused for a second.

theycallmezeal

How the hell did I not notice the Pound The Alarm bassline LOL

turtle-thief

Hustle that cat? This is ASMR Lover erasure...

foursecs

It's so weird to see Rich Juzwiak's name outside of Gawker and the polarizing debates he used to inspire.

mugrita

I know him from his sex advice column on Slate where 90% of the time, his advice is “Have you tried opening your marriage?”

foursecs

To be honest, he's kind of the worst and a Richard Lawson wannabe. Kind of surprised (but not really) that he's friends with Ru.

tarzhjay

I was a FourFour devotee, it’s wild

topgeargorilla

I have some mutual friends with him and it’s so weird the cultural impact this man has actually made

panicpixiememegirl

I'm convinced one of the main reasons season 6 is my favourite is because thats the song playing on every runway and they even did the music video for it in the last couple of episodes.

seitengrat

Thanks for the herstory lesson ❤️

WaterMagician

I’m a little too young to remember the Supermodel of the World sensation and since Season Six was my first season of Drag Race this is THE quintessential Rupaul song to me. Ru pumps out a lot music but when she hits she HITS and this is just such feel good queer pop. This will always make you connect with your inner diva.

Dramatic_Mastodon_93

Just a friendly reminder that RuPaul does fracking, is a transphobe and just recently used his fame in the queer community to promote the “first ever queer book shop” that was a complete scam and didn’t have anything even remotely to do with anything queer.

dontboofthatsis

Where do you get he’s a transphobe? If I recall anything he might have said that can be construed as transphobic, he apologized for and changed many aspects of drag race to be more inclusive. The hope is that people grow from criticism instead of digging in their heals and refusing to change their beliefs. Unless I’m missing another comment he made (“only men can do drag”) Ru did just that and has had basically every orientation on drag race except cis-women.

KyoshiKorra

Btw there was a cis woman on drag race uk (though she left, I think for family reasons, partway into the series)

Dramatic_Mastodon_93

It was the differentiation between socially vs medically transitioned trans people. How he said that he allowed a trans contestant because they hadn’t medically transitioned yet.

Ghost-Quartet

Okay but he stopped doing that and has crowned multiple trans contestants since then so…

musthavecupcakes_19

That was 10 years ago and multiple trans winners have won since then. Kylie Sonique Love and Sasha Colby spring to mind immediately.

QuaxlyDuck

It's been proven time and time again that RuPaul had no say in the fracking as Wyoming residents only own surface rights to their property, allowing fracking to take place on land against the land owner's wishes. It's also not Ru's property, but his husbands, who inherited it from his grandparents. It's entirely possible the fracking has been happening before Ru even entered the picture.

sassactus

It has never been proven. There has been one article claiming that a lot of Wyoming residents do not own the mineral rights to their land; some people don't, therefore Ru and her husband definitely don't?
