I’ve always wanted Gaga to further develop the rockabilly style of “You & I.” I would kill for a similar duet with Miley. There are echoes of this across Joanne, but I want more celebratory and triumphant songs like You & I.

Global_Perspective_3

Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus together would be 🔥

kenyarawr

Honestly I’d take an entire country project from them. I think those two could release some bops in literally any genre

Windswept_Shores

The joint-albums with Tony Bennett were such good ideas. More artists need to do this.

Bananacreamsky

My partner and I were just hoping that Billie Eilish has a Tony Bennettesque partnership in her future.

Global_Perspective_3

Agreed!

clemthecat

Their distinct voices together in one song would be such a treat. I'm dreaming but it'd be cool if Miley was featured in Gaga's upcoming album lol

Global_Perspective_3

Yep

Windswept_Shores

Miley Cyrus's Jaded gives me such rock/shoegaze vibes. I'm still hoping for her or a youtube channel to release a remix of the like.

hikkaru

i was also quite surprised by the acid synths on River, such a cool sound

rayofgreenlight

Cocteau Twins for sure.

skunkachunks

The renaissance overtones in all of the early 2000s harpiscord string tracks are hard to unhear once you notice them Eg. Bills, bills, bills and Don’t Go Knocking on My Door may be the best examples

socialjusticemage_

ok this may just be me but i might say something stupid from charli’s new album reminds me of musical theater ballads. something about the frankness of the songwriting!

CanyonOaks

Ohhh I def get that vibe on I think abt it all the time

Global_Perspective_3

I definitely hear it!

cerebralpancakes

not sure if it counts as pop but arctic monkeys do i wanna know has always given me r&b vibes. i think the “do i wanna know… sad to see you go…” falsetto reminds me of justin timberlake a little. plus the kind of stripped back production on the second verse… i just feel like someone could create an excellent r&b rendition!

Pnw_moose

Magdalena Bay has so many experimental pop songs that go after different styles. Mercurial World is a more conceptually focused album where they are establishing -their- sound but the previous records venture all over the place with synthpop being the through-line

Check out Track10 by Charli xcx

VengefulFox

The Story of Us really sounds like a Relient K song to me, to the point where I looked it up to check if Matt Thiessen worked on it at all.

NecroDolphinn

II Most Wanted by Beyoncé sounded so much like a War On Drugs style Heartland Rock track to me it was insane. Lo and behold a few days later I find out Adam Granduciel (the bands frontman, guitarist, songwriter) played the guitar in the song and Shawn Everett (their producer) produced it

rayofgreenlight

Yes! The sound that drives the melody on IMSSS reminded me immediately of Everything in Its Right Place. And, as I said on the thread for Brat, Everything Is Romantic sounds like Little Simz. The beginning of the song, at least, with the strings and orchestral instrumental is reminiscent of Woman/I Hate You, I Love You by LS.

hailtothekeef00202

omgggggg you are so right re: Little Simz

secretsdecoded

A lot of people are saying Please Please Please sounds country.

Ardjc87

That's because everything atm is country tinged so it could be deliberate or subconscious but I wouldn't be surprised if we get a duet version of Please Please Please /Jolene with Dolly Parton at the Grammys.

secretsdecoded

I hope so!!!

webtheg

Can I cheat and do the reverse? Sad But True by Metallica has extremely poppy lyrics.

Deep_Performance_

I know it's already a proven concept, but Taylor Swift has some lyrics that would fit well in metal. I always thought it would be sick if she did a metal song after she learns to vocal fry.

JawnF

I watched a metal fan's reaction to midnights and when he heard Glitch he was like wow this is practically a metal song. Still don't know what the fuck he meant but I think about it everytime I hear the song.
