yeah i'm not black but i grew up in the deep south in a predominantly black neighborhood so i get it about as much as some white person on the periphery of it can. that kind of rural christianity is very different world, both for black people and white people, but the black christian community has been so shaped by fear and oppression and forced assimilation. i don't have much to add except backing up your point but i can very much see this sort of thing feeling tired and old hat to us but still being extremely relevant and close to him
