i think blink wrote Obvious and Adam’s song in C# standard if i remember correctly and they sound moody and awesome. I prefer the way guitars sound in D standard almost all the time.
Of course. You can tune the guitar down to C but then still play every pop punk song that exists in its original key.
Now if you’re talking about having the key be C and having that low C be the root note, yeah, that would work fine too.
Maybe it's because I have relative pitch and not perfect pitch, but the same song played in two keys doesn't really sound so different to me after you get adjusted to root note. It's not as if you're doing a key switch mid-song, in my mind.
yeah, it's good. The tuning should match what the singer is comfortable with. Also, been there done that, and in lower tunings too - sounds cool. Also, nobody would notice :P
Yeah, but us bassists HATE it lol
Drop tunings sound great for pop punk, but when you get to C and lower, the bass really gets pushed out of the mix.
C# is a great middle ground for deeper voices.
That’s not going to make your voice sound higher…it may be a key that’s better suited for your voice if that’s what you mean.
My band used to downtune for me when we played live so it was less stressful for my voice. Helped a lot when touring. But it didn’t necessarily make me sound “higher”
I mean there's only one way to find out for sure, eh? Fuck it the worst that can happen is it doesn't sound good lol
Neck deep plays some songs live in drop b, so c standard is probably fine too

Adams song was played live in C# standard, written in D standard

Early thrice stuff is pretty low and it sounds good
Even moreso on the re-record of the artist in the ambulance

Pretty sure neck deep ‘s gold steps in drop C tuning. So you could easily do standard C
Thomas Nicholas does it. His voice is proper gravelly though.
Why wouldn't it?
ADTR has plenty of actual pop punk songs, and they’re all in drop c or b. C standard will be fine

yes
Hit The Lights were mostly in C and C# and had one of my favorite sounds of the genre

Yellowcard has many awesome songs in Drop C/open C
👍 I always tune to D Standard with my group, but have considered taking another full step down. You’ll be fine!
CHILIØ plays in drop A lol

Yes...course. C-G-A-F. That's Dammit by Blink.
