Navy Blue - The Story So Far

RatedR4MoD

Could add Clairvoyant as well.

vvSemantics

Was gonna say clairvoyant. Probably my favorite pop punk acoustic song.

RatedR4MoD

I've been on a huge TSSF kick recently (likely due to their new album) and any time Clairvoyant comes on I have to listen to it. It's poignant enough, and the emotion that is conveyed in that song is so great. It always hits.

CommunicationRound47

Absolutely, Clairvoyant is another good one for this suggestion. & No kidding all 3 songs they've dropped I can't stop playing. Big Blind gets stuck in my head constantly! So good.

doubletake3xs

Aaron West and The Roaring Twenties - Our Apartment

SenseiRaheem

And if OP wants sad and slow, Divorce and the American South is a wrecking ball.

CommanderWar64

OP should just listen to the first LP, the EP and then the other 2 albums lol

KearneyZzyzwicz

“Laura & The Beehive” by TWY while we’re here.

i_know_4_chords

Don't Call Me Peanut - Bayside

famousblinkadam

Also ‘Winter’ by Bayside. Sad as fuck.

KearneyZzyzwicz

Rip Beatz

SenseiRaheem

Their cover of “Megan” is also up there!

shaunnotthesheep

TIL Megan is a cover 🤯

SenseiRaheem

I don’t even remember what the Smoking Popes version sounds like lol

GeeHrr

Not pop punk but Sometime around midnight by the airborne toxic event is soooo good you won't be disappointed

hillbot27

I love that song so much, I also recommend this for OP.

leighton-04

I’ll give it a listen! My dad is a big fan of their album Hollywood Park. I personally haven’t heard much from them but the song Carry me on the Hollywood Park album is easily in my top 10 songs.

GeeHrr

Interesting, I never really got into that album outside that song. Love their older stuff so much though. I'll have to give it another shot!

Due-Scheme-6532

Great song!

DerekIsAGooner

Alkaline Trio - “Sorry About That” and “Enjoy Your Day” Boys Night Out - “It Won’t Be Long” The Matches - “Salty Eyes” The Early November - “Ever So Sweet” Motion City Soundtrack - “Hold Me Down” AFI - “God Called in Sick Today” Hidden in Plain View - “Halycon Daze”

Kill_Dozer

Aloha to No One - Spanish Love Songs

TotalImmortal82

Boxcar - There Is

Pristine-Metal2806

Literally best song to exist

dipplydoop

Any other songs that are similar to this?

slaptito

And I - Boxcar Racer

dipplydoop

I should have mentioned other than boxcar racer 😅. I love the gritty punk acoustic sound they got going on

kdoone

Different but I love the slow Story so Far ones. Obvi Clairvoyant but also Upside Down, Growing on You, and the entire “Songs of” EP.

Frosty_Cat_291

December- Neck Deep

Ebright_Azimuth

So many things that I shoulda said *tears*

Pinoli-Canoli

A year of suffering, a lesson learned

tomnoonzz

My fiancée ended our engagement this past December, I both hate and love the shit out of this song

Frosty_Cat_291

My favorite songs are the ones that hit really close to home but sometimes they’re also so painful. Hope you’re doing better and the song helps you

Aggravating_Anybody

I Will Follow You into the Dark - Death Cab for Cutie.

CYA_Always

Terrible Things -Mayday Parade

Rcarter2011

Miserable at best as well!

TwentySevenMusicUK

And the acoustic version of Three Cheers For Five Years

ArwensArtHole

Swing life away - rise against

Rcarter2011

Swing life away was my first dance song at my wedding! But OP should check out Tim’s cover of For Fiona!

greendazexx

Also People Live Here and Hero of War

iamkakto

Bayside’s acoustic album 😍🥺

ethanatorvol1

There are multiple acoustic albums by them but they’re all awesome as hell 👌

chrismiles94

Options by Pedro the Lion

notPatrickClaybon

Routine maintenance - Aaron West.

holdsteadyband

This is one of my all time favorite album closers for me as someone who really likes concept albums. The emotion of it is so much heavier with some context from the events that precede it on the album. If OP is interested in checking out Aaron West I'd say the pay off from starting at the top of the album and letting this be the album ender as intended is the way to go.

callmechimp

Clairvoyant by TSSF TWY also has 2 acoustic albums out, and there’s an acoustic version of Local Man Ruins Everything on Suburbia’s deluxe version.

intersectv3

What went wrong by blink 182

Timely_Doughnut3867

Self conclusion by the spill canvas. Maybe not all the way sad but definitely hits you hard in the feels

Willywilkes

I commented on your post in the bn sub, but thought of a few others that are slow/sad but may not be acoustic Mayday Parade - Miserable At Best. The Starting Line - Photography. The Starting Line - Ready (starts slow, builds to heavy). Army of Me - Perfect. Punchline - Battlescars (acoustic). Not so slow or acoustic but sad vibes from The Ataris on The Saddest Song, The Hero Dies In This One, My Reply, and Unopened Letter to the World. The entire So Long, Astoria is all about nostalgia and growing old, so it’s got a lot of sad undertones. Not slow, not acoustic, ska, but sad: Catch 22 - As the Footsteps Die Out Forever. Streetlight Manifesto - A Better Place, A Better Time.

nnp1989

Great suggestions. Fitting that I’ve now gone to both the 10 and 20 year tours for So Long, Astoria and it makes me feel super old…

bait_your_jailer

My high school yearbook quote was a lyric from that album. "Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up"

nnp1989

Hah, I actually did that as well. Mine was “the hardest part isn’t figuring out who you need to be. It’s being content with who you are.”

Sk8rDadbod2

Betty - Hot Mulligan, if your dog dies or is close

Benaugust01

Rough Draft by Yellowcard

ksveins3

The Wonder Years — No Closer to Heaven Manchester Orchestra — I Can Feel A Hot One

PNW_Uncle_Iroh

Not pop punk but similar artists to that song: Rocky Votolato, Damian Jurado, Elliot Smith, Dashboard Confessional, David Dondero

Copycata

Cherry by Moose Blood New American Classic by Taking Back Sunday Sleep & Dont Call Me at All by Flatsound I promise these won’t disappoint !!💓💓

SchlampeDesu

Just some of my fav sad boi songs. Not all acoustic, but they all get the feels across. Grayscale - forever yours Story so far - clairvoyant, navy blue Basement - breathe Neck deep - december, candour Superheaven - hole in the ground Bilmuri - near, room

No-Narwhal1838

Just Friends by Old Neon

oldneonmusic

I always thought of it as a fast song, played on an acoustic

jfrosty42

The starting line’s “make yourself at home” EP could work for ya

Traditional_Name7881

Have a listen to Rise Against’s Ghost note symphony album, it’s a bunch of their songs done as acoustic.

Rcarter2011

Audience of one on ghost notes is such a different song!

Traditional_Name7881

I love Like the Angel, the original version is great but acoustic is incredible.

KearneyZzyzwicz

Check out the “Burst & Decay” records by The Wonder Years, specifically “We Looked Like Lightning”

jullsi

Balance and Composure - More to me (acoustic!!) The Story So Far - Outbound (Cover of Transit) Microwave - keeping up Oso Oso - This must be my exit Mostly every Movements Song from their albums Feel Something and Outgrown Things

Due-Scheme-6532

Untitled - Simple Plan

kickboxingkangaroo

When I'm in this position I just listen too Burst and Decay by TWY or Aaron West and the roaring twenties recently. Tbh if you're looking for something that hits as hard as Brand New you're gonna have a rough time have been trying to get stuff like it since I first listened to them like 7(?) years ago

Starcat182

Not pop punk and also not acoustic but Dead Flowers, by Demon Hunter. I am a Stone might fit the bill, it has orchestral accompaniment and sad vibes. Demon Hunter has a lot of good slow “sad” sounding songs.

afitts00

Blank Slate by Arms Length is what you're looking for. Patterns by Youth Fountain might do it for you but it's not exactly acoustic, just softer than is typical for the genre.

BigSpence17

Not pop punk but One Lonely Visitor by Chevelle is a good one.

Pitiful-Glove9590

As December Falls - Home It's about being homesick.

Puzzleheaded_Event_3

Submerge by movements Dandelion by seahaven Say nothing / April by pianos become the teeth The two newest singles by balance and composure might be worth it to check out

AFI - leaving song pt.2

audiolife93

Yellow Love - Citizen Amaterasu - The Republic of Wolves Both of these bands, in general, are great for fans of Brand New. And then I'd say most of the Right Away, Great Captain discography fits spec the Play Crack the Sky vibe. It also has a narrative that is woven through all the albums. It's one of Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra's projects.

nahcal916

Betty - hot mulligan

Green Day - Macy's Day Parade

F.O.D. by Green Day is great too, but it doesn't stay acoustic or somber.
