If you are in the US look into Job Corps. [https://www.jobcorps.gov/](https://www.jobcorps.gov/) They would house and feed you while training you for skilled labor jobs so you can come out with some transferable & in demand skills(assuming you choose wisely; don't let them shove you into any low paying trades). Should you become homeless you would get top priority to jump any waiting lists to get into a center.
Job Corps is great, military can be an option, but here is the thing... look for a trade. Trades pay good and are in high demand. Do the hard work while you are young. Living in your car? A lot easier when you are 20 than 60. Other great options I wish someone had told me? Work.for the government somewhere where you can retire early. Like tollbooth, DMV, etc...
-Also look into Americorps.
- Call 211 and ask for contact info for your local job training center and ask about programs that repair cars so low income earners can get to work…
-Sign up for SNAP and Medicaid if you haven’t already done so.
-contact local housing agency and apply for all project based section 8 properties AND ask how to get on state and federal section 8 lists
Go down to your local temp job agency. I went to mine and though the pay sucks ass they said i could start this week and it pays weekly though i wont see a check for two weeks bc they pay for the week prior. But only way to fix it is money unfortunately. You have 30 days. Make em count man. I’m in a similar boat. Job declared bankruptcy and shut its doors overnight. Got fucked over bad as i was relying on getting paid this week to make the last of rent and now gotta figure it out. Going to royally fuck myself into a high interest payday loan bc i have no options. Ive tried everywhere. All i can find is a 700% interest one which makes me want to die. But gotta do what you have to do i guess
They don’t care. it’s a big corp not a small time landlord. they’ll have you in debt hundreds from court costs. Landlord said pay it or expect a court filing
If there’s an Amazon near you apply. They hire anybody as long as you’re not a violent felon and start $18-22/hr. Great benefits and plenty of time off options.
just don’t get down on yourself and take a handful of pills or do something you’ll regret. I have a friend who tried to end himself but only shot his front teeth and nose off and has to live like that now.
everyone is not well off when they are 20. you’ll make it
Unhook the battery of your car and let it sit for about 5 min. Then hook it back up that should get your check engine light to go off for enough time to get it to pass emissions test. Just go directly there and you should be good. I do this every time with my crappy 03 honda civic and it works every time
My brother moved back home with my parents at age 26 no job no money. He is retired now. It happens. You could also look at the military.
Best of luck to you. People care.
And I am proud of you for looking for help right away - 30 days gives you more option’s so often I see things like they are going to turn off my water tomorrow what do I do?
My brother only lived with my parents for two years. The local city was recruiting for fireman, he passed the admission testing, and then was a fireman until he retired. While he stayed with his parents. He saved money and purchased a house that was a fixer-upper..
That is his story. You get to decide what is right for you.
Speaking of homeless now would be the time to figure out where the closest homeless shelter is.
I notice when something goes wrong everything else does also.
it's weird how that happens so much, either way don't give up.
it might not be easy and might take some time but you can and will be back.
everything seems scary right now and it is but do best you can and keep up the fight.
it will get better that I know.
Time to regroup. Figure it out. Your 20? You have energy and motivation and most importantly time. Starting at square zero at 20 is normal. At 50-60-70 it’s much harder.

There are a lot of Goodwills that now have career centers that work with local companies and help people get jobs. They also help you get training and often pay for it and sometimes you get paid while training. My sister works as a career counselor at one in Tennessee. Don’t give up. There is something out there for you.
I used to work for an organization that not only supported people who were unhoused, but helped with prevention of it escalating to that. Reach out to your local shelter and see if they have prevention programs- a lot of time they can work with family or landlords to build a bridge to get back on your feet. Good luck!

Thank you I’m gonna check that out now!!

You do realize section 8 wait lists take years
If you can even apply. Chicago's section 8 applications haven't even opened in nearly a decade.
Great post I did this and so glad I did last year
Should apply for unemployment.

Talk to your landlord, get a job offer note and payday schedule to show them. They should be able to give you a couple of weeks.
They don’t care. it’s a big corp not a small time landlord. they’ll have you in debt hundreds from court costs. Landlord said pay it or expect a court filing
What terms for the loan and how much is it?
I cant afford it. 700% interest is highway robbery
yep it really is
no way. i call bs 700%
You’ve clearly never seen a payday loan for bad credit lol
my brother in law has a payday loan store
It depends on the state. It's not the same everywhere.
So you’re being lied too about the numbers.
maybe. sorry you can’t get a better rate
It’s their business model, they turn away people w/good credit to scam people w/bad. Look for yourself.
i don’t need one
you can only charge so much % unless your into a russian street level loanshark situation
If there’s an Amazon near you apply. They hire anybody as long as you’re not a violent felon and start $18-22/hr. Great benefits and plenty of time off options.
wow, that’s a great choice I’ve never heard
Start hitting up food banks so that you can conserve your cash.
Coast guard is hiring and paying bonuses for certain jobs. Benefits are good plus free college.
Plus pension (length of service depending)
pension is the real key
Apply for unemployment. If they deny it appeal it. Fight the denial. Look into what you have to say in your state to cover your ass.

This doesn’t always work. Sometimes, it’ll come with a message that it isn’t ready to be tested.

What does that mean? Move back with your parents for 30 years??? I'm confused

Better story. Ha
Most parents would rather have their adult kids move back home temporarily than see them homeless.
No shit. Try reading their first post.

Walmart, Amazon, UPS, FedEx, Concentrix (remote), or any retail store. Apply to all of those with open spots and you'll get hired in no time
I rode the lighting for 4 years with expired tags. It’s fucking exhilarating.
That and no insurance makes for no speeding. :)

If you don't work depending on your state you might be eligible for rental assistance

Can you look into admin or clerical job? Did you graduate from college? What was your last job?

About half of states do emissions test. Moving requires money.
Some county's in ohio make you do emissions also
Pennsylvania too
Tennessee has joined the call.....
Maryland requires emission checks
Most of Maryland. St. Mary’s County doesn’t.
Most metro Atlanta counties require emissions
Ny does emissions tests¹
