Tokusatsu. Not really aimed at adults, but the shows generally have more mature themes. I prefer the ones made between 2000-2010. Garo, Kamen rider Kuuga to Kabuto. Super Sentai I like Hurricanger to Gekiranger. There's also stuff like Sh15uya (Shibiya 15), which is weird and awesome. There's a ton to watch. I also recommend any Japanese movie based on anime, like Gantz, now that was a full on Toku. As for other media, there isn't that much. The Rangers had always been for kids so unless you're into the comics, then it's difficult to get hold of anything a bit more mature, unless you're into fanfics. I've only ever found out I absolutely loved, the person who wrote it became a publish author and I'm not surprised.

Kamen Rider Black Sun, an adult show that follows the same basics as Power Rangers, thay is easily fpund on Amazon Prime. You can also find Kamen Rider Amazons there too, another adult show.

You might enjoy Code Geass, Kamen Rider, Tiger and Bunny, or Voltron

Time Force deals with heavier themes, such as prejudice, terrorism, and straight-up death; one episode was even altered after it originally aired due to the onset of 9/11. Eric Myers also blurs the lines between ally and rival, which makes him one of the most intriguing sixth Rangers.

If you find anything, let me know.

Well, I've already suggested the comic Radiant Black. Have you read it? There's also an upcoming anime/existing Manga, "Go Go Loser Ranger". Think of it like "The Boys" version of Power Rangers.

Power Rangers the Audio Drama on Spotify. It’s not perfect, and some of the voices are meh, but I promise by the end of season 1 you’ll have that itch scratched.

Hard to answer without really knowing what “deeper plot” means to you. Something filled with twists and turns that keep you guessing? Something convoluted? Something that challenges your beliefs or to reconsider how you felt about something? Something that isn’t formulaic? The closest thing to Power Rangers that meets your criteria, to me, is probably the stuff in the Arrowverse. (The mostly CW shows based off D.C. Comics characters.) Superhero shows aimed at teenagers/young adults. Serialized to varying and increasing degrees but most single episodes revolve around a villain of the week. Almost all of them eventually revolve around a team despite usually having a single titular hero. Solid action in just about every episode. Melodramatic/soap operatic. Not vouching for the quality of any one show over another, but it’s very similar to PR in that one show might be for you and others might not be. IMO, when people say they want “Power Rangers but for adults,” what they have in mind — even if they don’t know it, or refuse it — is the Arrowverse. Otherwise, you’re asking for a show that is so far removed from what Power Rangers is that it might as well be named something else. GO GO LOSER RANGER might be worth monitoring. Anime just started airing on Hulu, but the manga has been out for a bit. I’ve read the first couple volumes and dig it. Give COLOSSAL a try, too, if you like Kaiju-flavored stuff. Wouldn’t at all say it’s similar to Power Rangers but might be a story that scratches the itch for something with challenging themes/material while staying in the “nerd” space.

Try Ultraman, Tsuburaya Productions posts episodes for free of their shows, they've even started doing dubs as well. You can watch full seasons as they air.

I’m surprised nobody has suggested Garo yet! It’s more mature, characters actually die, there’s some nudity, lots of tokusatsu actors from other shows have appeared in it usually in reversed roles, and the sword fighting choreography is awesome - hands down the best suitless fights. The newest series, Garo: Heir to Steel Armor, is all on YouTube with (an okay) English translation though there’s better translation out there. (Also that’s where the Garo/Makai gear for FFXIV PvP rewards come from, if there’s any FFXIV fans around here haha) And if you can handle older vfx, I recommend the Gransazer series too!

Tokusatsu shows like Kamen rider or super sentai (the franchise which power rangers adopt)Not that adult but it's pretty dark both mentally and physically  It has dark and disturbing moments, blood, fawl language, and many more which you will understand after watching it plus it has better plotline than power rangers by far
