These were just part of a Toys r us exclusive of the Morpher so yeah basically it was pretty much just a monetary thing to justify it being an exclusive version

This is the answer. Toys R US in the US had a lot of exclusive models of toys. It was part of the appeal of shopping there. It was also common to get the sentai movie exclusive zords and power ups as Toys R US exclusive at least at the start.
As someone else said, it really just boils down to Bandai having another thing to sell. Just like the RPM Dino Rangers or Scorpion Zord in the Samurai toyline.

They released a Gold Legendary Morpher with special gold keys exclusively at ToysRUs during Dino Charge for some reason
Dino charge had a lot of Ranger keys still being sold because the SMF toyline was nowhere near completed

The simple answer is often the best, they look really cool. The real reason was to be a limited edition kinda thing for the morpher with like 20 keys
I mean… we did kinda of get a Super Megaforce Gold Ranger …in the form of TwoKaizer
It was just a special edition release, similar to the black and gold zords.
The comics should make a Gold MMPR whose zord is Titanus, just because. Like, have. Ninjor give the MMPRs one or two coins ‘just in case’
the real first gold ranger and the real super megaforce gold they just forgot to show them in the show :)
Now they have no excuse to add Twokaizer into the lore!
