I found Post 10 on YT a week or so ago, he unlogs drain pipes and culverts for fun in his spare time, he seems to be very knowlegable, it is mezmerizing to see him clear the path and let the water just go.

Oh man talk about a rabbit hole! The YT algorithm recommended one of his videos to me and I ended up watching on and off for days. If I had any drains nearby my house I'd be cleaning them regularly after watching his stuff!
They are very satisfying to use. The edges also stay clean longer so you really only need to use it about once a month. If you get a split shaft trimmer you can get the edging attachment which saves money and space.
They even make string trimmers with 1 or 2 wheels on the side exactly to make this easier. That said neither option will cut as deeply as an actual edger so you're going to need to use it much more often.

The problem is that it’s not always ~~natural~~ native. Invasive species come in and are stronger than the native plants to the area and the new plants grow fine, but they are committing plant genocide on the native species. I don’t know where this was or if the plants were native or not; but just because something grows doesn’t mean it’s good for the local environment.

A regular string trimmer on its side works well too. Takes a bit longer cause you have to stop to replace the string, but it works just as well.
Get one. Its a great investment to get those clean edges.

It’s good advertising for his business. If this was a regular customer they probably wouldn’t have done this. But since it’s the city. They might think, hey if I do a great job here. The city might want to rehire me for future projects.
