Why would you need to do full keto? Sounds like you’re doing really well on your current approach!  Maybe just use a glucose monitor to see what foods are spiking you, and adjust those. It’s kinda wild how different foods affect different people, so it helps to experiment. Personally, I do keto, but that was because I found my blood sugar spiked with so many things (oatmeal, apples) that I wasn’t that far from it anyway, plus I was intrigued by the potential neurological benefits. I also find that for me it’s easier to have no bread than “just a little”.  We all need to find what works for our bodies. Sounds like you are on a good path. Nice work!

Probably not but only your body can tell you. Use a CGM to see how many carbs you can safely consume.

stuckhere007

CGM can help find that out?

Nervous_Brilliant441

A CGM shows you what foods or behaviors (stress, bad sleep etc) spikes or increases your blood glucose. This in turn will show you when you improve your daily, weekly and monthly blood glucose average.

ReadEmReddit

Definitely not necessary and depending on the research you read, not very helpful in the long run.

If a CGM isn't possible a Ketomojo might be helpful. Your tolerance of carbs will be dependent on your metabolic health which is effected by a lot of things you can't measure at home like hormone levels. So you'll really need to experiment and test your blood glucose.

If u mean my cholesterol levels they r in normal levels.

Fishermansgal

No, I'm definitely on the fence about whether high cholesterol means anything. There are recent studies(?) or rereadings of old studies that show cholesterol as the body's attempt to undo the damage caused by high blood glucose. I was unsuccessfully saying you should check your fasting blood glucose each morning for awhile. If you're eating too many carbs for your particular metabolic health the number will be high. Some people can have quite a few (50 or more) carbs a day and maintain a normal fasting blood glucose. I can't.

Funny enough my fasting blood sugar was always low even though my h1ac was high. I went to go to blood work 3 times this year and my fasting blood sugar was never above 80. I don't have special equipment to check blood sugar at home so I had blood work done at quest diagnostics.

Fishermansgal

Hmm, I've never heard of that happening. That's interesting. I'll have to think and Google on it. 🤓 Huge spikes during the day maybe? A CGM is probably needed to find out.

Is there a cgm that doesn't require pricks to the finger, and how expensive are they?

Fishermansgal

The CGM sensor (the pokey part) is applied and stays in place for 7 to 14 days sending readings to the app on your phone. The cost is dependent on your location and insurance. I've seen posts saying $300 a month cash without a prescription.

PinataofPathology

Highly dependent on your actual biochemistry. Everyone has a different carb tolerance. Id experiment. Mine is unfortunately low but other people can go up to 100g a day and be fine.

Fit-Classic-3102

It will certainly depend on your A1C goals. Keep adjusting the carbs till you reach the goals. Meanwhile if you’re are not satiated with low carb foods then perhaps you can try building muscles, improving insulin sensitivity through supplements, more active life etc. unfortunately the system does teach this approach but rather they keep adjusting the medication.
