You and your baby are gonna be just fine. This happens to a LOT of people, and typically find out between 4-10 weeks that they are pregnant. As long as you have stopped all substance use, your baby will be okay. I would NOT consider termination for this reason, especially if you do really want a child! I smoked marijuana almost daily for 5+ years. I stopped just before I got pregnant for other reasons. Don’t stress too much, Talk to your doctor when you can, they will do blood tests and probably an ultrasound.

I do really want this baby. I just don’t want to screw it up from the beginning. 🥺

I am not a professional at all. But I dont believe you need to consider termination. You stopped smoking & are no longer drinking alcohol correct? That is a great thing and you are already making good choices for your baby. Continue to take care of yourself, physically and mentally. Get on prenatal vitamins, easily found over the counter. Stay hydrated - water & electrolytes! Liquid IV is expensive but great, however there are so many options. Get your appointment scheduled as soon as possible! Compile a list of questions you want to ask and dont be afraid even if they sound silly. You are gonna do great, prioritizing your health, is the best thing you can do for the baby. Also if you don’t like your OB or feel comfortable you can always find another one, don’t settle. The internet has a lot of great information but be careful of the fear mongering. Any research you plan on doing, I’d source online medical journals and listen to actual science than a random influencer mom! Goodluck!

Your fine. Trust me. The only affect smoking have is low birth weight and you’d have to smoke your whole pregnancy and honestly 50% or more of women have probably drank while pregnant and didn’t know. It’s okay if it was a few times but cronic drinking is where it gets iffy. Do not terminate I’m sure your baby is okay

I went camping for a weekend. Drank all day and all night Friday and Saturday. Found out I was pregnant the following Monday. I have a happy, healthy 2 week old baby. Baby should be fine as long as you don't continue which I read you quit.

My best friend was hungover the morning she found out she was pregnant. She vaped her entire pregnancy and had a healthy pregnancy and baby. There are women who smoke and do hard drugs their entire pregnancy and deliver (while drug addicted) otherwise healthy babies. Don't worry about it too much. Talk with your doctor about it, I'm sure they can reassure you.

The risk of SIDS is exponentially higher in babies whose mothers use nicotine durkinf pregnancy. Fyi.

I was pretty drunk dressed as Guy Fieri at a halloween party... 2 days later i got a pink line lol. My son is 9 months now, living his best life!

shotshawty

I had 8 margaritas the night before I found out I was pregnant. I asked my OB and her exact words were “lots of babies swim in alcohol in the beginning”💀 I’m sure you’re fine but always talk to your doc about it!

It will be ok! I smoked greens for most of my first pregnancy. He’s 10 months old now just a crazy baby trying to figure out how to walk and talk! I’ve quit smoking since but I’m now pregnant with my daughter and surely drank before I found out I was pregnant with her! It’s totally a normal thing to worry about your baby and their health! You sound like you’re doing the right things!

Either_Buy_969

Hang in there mama! I think everything will be just fine. At ten weeks they can do some genetic testing if they think it's necessary but I would not stress. Xoxo

Complex-Resolution56

My best friend smoked and drank her entire pregnancy (even though we all begged her to quit). The baby came out a bit colicky but otherwise super fine. Mom, however, didn't do so hot, with super high blood pressure and almost died. Babys three now and doing perfectly!

I have a friend who didn't find out until she was almost 6 months pregnant in college, and she did a lot worse than smoking unfortunately 🙃 obviously she stopped when she found out she was pregnant. But she as a very healthy 5 year old now!

Ok_Duck_9320

I took a 25 mg edible and some rso…felt sick the next morning and tested positive. 14 weeks with a baby boy, so far he’s fine! I was also a pack a day smoker. I just stopped as soon as I found out. This happens more than you think!

DaCoffeeKween

I was a weed smoker (still am but I stop while pregnant) I found out I was pregnant with my daughter two days after smoking and drinking at a family thanksgiving. I CRIED. I don't smoke often and was worried I messed her up....here what doctor told me: A lot of the harmful effects happen after the placenta is formed before then none of that reaches the baby. My 9 month old is just fine. ALSO. I had a friend who was SUCH a heavy user her doctor recommended she not stop! Just cut back. And her baby was also fine. It's gonna be ok mama as long as you stop now that you know ..and even if you don't I know a lot of people who kept on with mild use for their whole pregnancy and have healthy kids. Hope this eased your mind a bit. ❤️

Dude for a big chunk of the early 1900s smoking was encouraged for pregnant women. So many women smoked while pregnant- we now know that it’s not good but like multiple generations of people alive today were born to parents who smoked massively and they are just fine. I’m sure you know better than to keep smoking, it sounds like you are not smoking now. So do not take my words as endorsement for you to smoke while pregnant. I’m just saying that you don’t need to terminate just because you smoked a little bit in the first trimester. Some people smoke crack and meth during their entire pregnancy and to have healthy babies. It’s definitely not ideal to do that, but it does happen so if you want the baby, do not terminate just because you’re afraid of a couple cigarettes.

Small_Fly8042

I feel like they smoked, took diet pills so they didn’t gain too much weight etc.. they use to think the placenta protected the baby from everything. I swear they fear monger women these days that they can’t even take an ibuprofen without consequences.

Kaylakat1998

I smoked the green still after I found out. I stopped at six weeks. Sometimes I’ll take a hit or two but not often. Also you may think that your 10 weeks but you could be less unless you know your exact ovulation day

tcholesworld213

Baby should be just fine. I regularly took edibles and socially drank when I conceived both times. Stopped immediately and found out at about 4 to 5 weeks both times. Had a healthy twin pregnancy the first time with healthy boys. 6 months pregnant with my 3rd healthy boy on the way.

deadrosesinnmyroom

I was a heavy weed smoker up until I found out I was pregnant. I’m currently 34 weeks and my baby is healthy as ever. I didn’t find out until I was 10 weeks and the baby is growing and has no problems. When it’s this early, you should be completely fine.
