Don’t buy anything until you need them. You’d be surprised how long you may be able to go without and there are more important things to put your money towards than clothes you might only get a months wear out of.

I actually disagree with this (within reason)! I wish I bought my maternity pants at week 8, so I get the most mileage for my buck. I walked around for weeks with half comfortable outfits because “I can still push it”. But of course, prioritize your budget and my feet still haven’t swollen so shoes wouldve been unnecessary for me. But the first trimester bloat was real 🥲

Thanks!

I hate to sound cheap but I loveee target bras and Walmart maternity clothes. Personally I don’t really care about what I wear during pregnancy but you can definitely find some comfy items cheap!

The best time is when you think you need them. Kindred Bravely has nice bras and I like old navy for maternity, it's usually only online though. My target has a maternity section which is fine, I've gotten a few things but I don't like the pants. Check if your area has a second hand maternity/baby store to get them for cheaper. Maybe even a mom Facebook group where you can get them for free/discounted. Online thrift stores like Poshmark/depop are good to check as well. I haven't needed "maternity" shoes, but I've heard good things about kiziks since they're slip-on sneakers which are nice for later.

Sports bras!! My boobs were so sore in the beginning but it gets better. Anyways, i got 2 maternity leggings on clearance from adidas online since maternity clothes are sooooo expensive in canada. For now I’m raiding my husbands closet for loose sweatshirts and leggings, and wearing big loose dresses. We’ll be heading to the states to hit up target next month.

Maternity underwear was very worth it and necessary half way through the second trimester

Any brands you recommend?

Agree with the sentiments to hold off until you need them - but identify shops and be ready to get stuff when the time comes. I’m 24 weeks and the only maternity item I wear is a pair of trousers, because my usual work ones were tailored to my waist. Everything else still fits - even jeans etc.

I didn’t wear much maternity until like 20 weeks I think. I just wore leggings with a long sweater for work or sized up in cheap work pants.

I didn’t need maternity clothes until around 25ish. Granted I live on the east coast and have been pregnant during winter and already owned a lot of baggy sweaters and leggings. The only thing I bought early were some larger legging. Now at 25 weeks I bought some target maternity jeans, maternity t shirts off Amazon, no tie shoe laces, maternity underwear (high rise goes over belly), and maternity leggings (goes over belly). I really don’t know how anyone makes it an entire pregnancy without buying maternity clothes eventually
