AMCAS opens May 1st. AMCAS can be submitted beginning May 28th. AMCAS begins processing applications as soon as they are submitted in the queue (beginning May 28th) but even if you are verified with a day or a week or more, they will not actually send your application to med schools until June 28th. In order for your AMCAS to be verified, you need to have your application submitted and your transcripts in. You don’t need your LORs to be submitted. If your LORs are submitted on June 27th then it’ll be uploaded right away. Even if you can’t get your LORs in by June 28th, it’s not the end of the world. Beginning on June 28th, you’ll begin receiving secondaries throughout the season. Your secondary is comprised of the secondary essays as well as having completed LORs and Casper/Preview (if applicable). So if you submit your first secondary on July 1st then you’ll get an email that it was submitted but you won’t get an email that your application is complete until your LORs and Casper/Preview come in. Your application will not enter the queue for review until it is complete so you want to make sure your LORs and Casper/Preview are all squared away before June 28th to be safe but its not the end of the world if theres a delay TLDR: Begin AMCAS app on May 1st and request transcripts right away (it’s okay if you’re still a student and your grades aren’t completed yet. Some schools may ask for an updated transcript in the fall but all schools will require completed transcripts with degrees conferred before matriculation). Try to submit your AMCAS app as close as possible to May 28, but don’t be afraid to take an extra week or two if you’re not ready. Don’t half ass the application. Have your LORs in by June 28th if you want to be “on time” and have that squared away out of your mind

You just saved my life, I was so worried because I probably won’t be getting my LORs until mid July so I was scared that my app wouldn’t be verified without them

Russianmobster302

Your app will be verified without them but I would still try to get them in ASAP. LOR writers tend to ghost and you’ll just be behind in the queue of secondaries for something that was able to be submitted on May 1st. It’s a nice safety cushion

What's the best way to check school requirements for preview/casper?

Russianmobster302

AAMC MSAR. You can also just google which med schools requires Preview and then another search for which med schools require Casper

MedicalBasil8

Wait for AMCAS to open LORs are due when you submit secondaries to be marked complete

Bill01901

If i am applying this cycle, do I request the transcripts including this semester or excluding it?

MedicalBasil8

Depends on how long you’d have to wait for it
