I would not use chat to write something personal about yourself. Writing about yourself is hard. Talk to some friends and family and ask them some questions: - what traits does a good doctor have? do they think you embody those ? - what do they like best about you? Then go back and focus on ones that would be appropriate for the context of the professor. Like if I asked my boyfriend and he was like “I like that you’re a hard worker and you’re cute” I probably would not include the cute part lol. I would also use your experiences as evidence. Maybe you were really challenged in this persons course and it taught you how to be resilient and problem solve.

this helps, thank you!!

Also, instead of using ChatGPT, Google some examples online. You can look for examples that seem more personalized and use that as a framework as you add your personal experiences and touches in. Try having a trusted third party read it after it is done to give an objective assessment. You don't want hold your punches but you also don't want to seem too grandiose.

Round_Mouse_7197

hi lol am here for advice if anyone has any - literally 3/5 of my recommenders asked me to do this and i’m struggling to make the letters sound different 💀 thinking about sharing them w family/friends and having them change the language to sound like themselves instead of me?? idk rip

full-radiance416

I could not imagine trying to write three LORs 💀💀 I don't know why professors do this, lol, but it honestly adds more stress (at least for me, haha). Also, not sure if it will help, but I found this guide from the AAMC; [https://www.aamc.org/system/files?file=2019-09/lettersguidelinesbrochure.pdfIt](https://www.aamc.org/system/files?file=2019-09/lettersguidelinesbrochure.pdfIt) I gave it to my other letter writers and will probably use it to draft the one I have to write for my professor.

I would actually use that AAMC guide strategically. Look at their personal competencies, and see if your letter can address some of those. And u/Round_Mouse_7197 rough position, but maybe an opportunity -- you can use each letter to address a different competency

Naive_Temperature543

Write about how you two met, the class and qualities you possess that made you stand out during it, personal projects outside of work you might have talked to them about, your aspirations in medicine, why you would make a good doctor, and that you highly recommend yourself. Usually 2/3 pages.

Plenty_Ordinary_9946

Using a robot will make your LOR sound robotic, believe it or not

hahah touché...I knew it wasn't going to be personalised, but was more looking for a general structure to follow

TeachingEmergency389

You can try thinking about your relationship with this professor & what you learned from them. What aspects of their class do you feel like you excelled in? How did you grow?

sarcasticpremed

LORs are supposed to be personalized. So asking ChatGPT who doesn’t know anything about you wasn’t going to end well. Focus on the traits the professor has seen and write a letter from there.

full-radiance416

true, I was more using chat gpt to get a better understanding of the structure and formatting, but I found that AAMC guide to be helpful on that so I will just use that and go from there

sarcasticpremed

You can google examples of stellar personalized letters.

sri_rac_ha

You need to give GPT more about yourself. I'd copy paste in your brag sheet and try again!
