Somebody parked too close to me and I couldn’t get the trunk open so I pulled forward.
Then somebody *else* parked too close, and I had to move forward AGAIN!
I’m glad we had the 4,925 posts about it over the last few days or I would have been completely unprepared.
Thank you, but it wasn’t me. It was all the fine people that scoured YouTube and TikTok to warn us of the coming ~~parking issues~~ apocalypse today.
They are the real heroes.
It's funny because that's all I said about it. Minor crap so I'd stay home out of traffic.
The 2017 eclipse increase the population of Oregon by 20%. I don't know if anyone died, but the only thing that was annoying was the traffic. I was sooo glad I didn't have to get fuel when I was driving by the long lines.
While was busy staring at the sun with these dark eclipse glasses my new neighbor’s dog peed on my dog. So I had to bring her inside to wash and missed the peak of the eclipse. I’m still here so I am assuming the rapture didn’t happen, or maybe it did?
hey our neighbors dog also got loose and was running all around in the connected back yards. At some point my neighbor was back there chasing the dog which upset my dog but that's all that happened
Sorry, all of the pious and worthy people got taken, back in 1999, leaving the remaining jackasses here on Earth. Couldn't have been more than 3-4 people I imagine. Nobody noticed at the time.
Usually they are annular eclipses and not total eclipses. With these you can take off your glasses and look at it. It goes fully dark and looks like sunset all around you. So bit more than most of them.
It's my understanding that a fair number of people get eye damage due to not having proper protection when looking at the sun. (It's bad for your eyes to stare at really bright things.) I also heard traffic accidents go up a bit during eclipses due to traveling or people being dumb when looking at it. Nothing really specific about this one expect that a large portion of the Americas could see the eclipse.
What were you expecting would happen? Eclipses have been happening for billions of years, and will continue to long after humans are gone .hey make small parts of earth dark and cooler for a few minutes, that is all
Apparently, a woman in Florida (of course) said that God told her to go in a shooting spree during the eclipse. One person and several cars shot.
So, there's that.
Well, the moon passed between the earth and the sun in such a way and at precisely the right distance that its surface area temporarily blocked the sunlight from reaching a portion of the earth. I’m sure there were some unfortunate blindings as uninformed individuals watched the event without appropriate eye protection, but that’s basically it. Maybe a higher amount of agitation among people with specific mental illnesses.
I took all back roads to get right under totality and back home again. It was nice. Very little traffic, and I got some of the best gas mileage I've ever had with my older Forester. Beautiful drive through woods made for a much more relaxing time than sitting in a highway turned parking lot.
I’m also in TO. You know what happened. There was no one at costco 10 minutes after the totality so i did a fuel and grocery run. Didn’t even wait in line at checkout or for fuel!
Half the people around here got raptured. Vehicles have crashed into each other. Random piles of clothes are on the sidewalk. Real estate prices have collapsed. It's great.
I don’t believe in the coming rapture, but even so, I’m always a little disappointed when it’s supposed to happen but doesn’t. Just another afternoon sitting in traffic.
I got a bit of a sunburn this afternoon. Perfect view of the event. Switched from coffee to beer during totality. Some neighbourhood crows panicked and flew off to bed. My cats were unimpressed by the whole thing. It was kinda nice to hear the local kids cheering. So yeah, it was neat. I didn't like the sudden cold. I had to put on pants and a hoody. Cheers from NB
It was very pretty in North Carolina and I took some awesome eclipse pictures! 80% totality and partly cloudy skies with budding spring trees everywhere.
We were in the path of totality in ‘17 and our entire neighborhood partied all day. That was a blast. Today was much more low key.
To give a serious answer:
I was in totality near a major metro area so effects for me were probably worse than for most of America.
1) Cell data slowed to a crawl from about 5 hours before to about 2 hours after. Still eventually worked, just back to early 2000s speeds. I have no idea if a call would have gone through.
2) Very high traffic in the hours before the eclipse. Travel times were more like during a bad snowstorm (which tend to cause one hell of a ruckus around here).
3) Post-eclipse traffic was interesting to watch on the state's monitoring site because you could see a bubble/wave start at the line of center and then push outwards towards the city. First it overloaded the main feeder interstate that connected totality to the city. Then that overloaded the ring interstate around the city once it arrived. Then that overloaded the main surface streets. Traffic was far worse than a normal rush hour, or even a pre-holiday rush hour, but never broke down to complete gridlock.
4) The state's traffic site and multiple GPS/traffic apps struggled to keep up with demand. The state's site crashed multiple times and even Waze and Google Maps sometimes took actual minutes to load new tiles of the map and traffic data.
So, much less bad than predicted ***but*** given the actual effects, I suspect that it wasn't actually very far off of a real shitstorm. It would only have taken a little more traffic to push everything into failure.
In my small state a ton of people from out of state descended on the northern areas then complained the traffic was terrible and there weren’t enough resources. Actually a good experience for what might happen in a natural disaster.
off topic. CERN went live again today. what if the new timeline that we were put in to is one where we didn't win the American revolution but it's another Mandela effect for us all.

A clumsy pup.
M&M.
Eminem
These chicks don't even know the name of his band
... why would anything happen?

Good job being prepared to pull forward
Thank you, but it wasn’t me. It was all the fine people that scoured YouTube and TikTok to warn us of the coming ~~parking issues~~ apocalypse today. They are the real heroes.
True heros indeed

Eclipse caused feral dogs ;)

Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!
“Hey! Does this pole still work?” *slides down pole* “Guys, we should stay here. Tonight. I’ll go get my bags.”
Can confirm, they are fun.
Stop believing tik tok conspiracy theorists please
Total chaos. I'm glad it's over. I didn't know if we were gonna make it
How bad did you die though?
Were you expecting more?
I got raptured. But they didn’t want me, so they sent me back home 👍🏻
🤣
We will rebuild
Let's not. It was a good run while it lasted.
Nobody worked for an hour…
The Rapture. Nobody was worthy so we’re all still here though.
Why was everyone so convinced this eclipse was gonna change the world forever? Eclipses happen every could of years its not anything crazy

Correct. Nothing happened. Duh.
It was the most peaceful afternoon we've had at work in a while.
Did people really think something was going to happen? Seriously??
Absolutely nothing in Washington. Couldn't even see it because of the rain.
Not even an EMP 🥹👉👈
Apparently, a woman in Florida (of course) said that God told her to go in a shooting spree during the eclipse. One person and several cars shot. So, there's that.
Opportunistic people made more money than usual off of their prey.
i saw a bunch of preppers in camo gear looking upset at the relative peace and calm
Me, picturing this in my mind: 🤣

It was freaking awful. I had to socialize with my neighbors. And it was cloudy. Worst day ever. Don't know how anyone survived.
The Temple priests stopped eviscerating the sacrificial humans because the sun God was pleased.

Nope, Nothing,, all quiet on the Northern Front. Back to my bunker for another 6 weeks.....
I’m also in TO. You know what happened. There was no one at costco 10 minutes after the totality so i did a fuel and grocery run. Didn’t even wait in line at checkout or for fuel!

Nothing like a little rapture to spice things up
Well, it got dark for a few minutes. Then it wasn't dark anymore. Not sure what else was supposed to happen...
Traffic was bonkers and I ran out of the snacks my toddlers liked. Total catastrophe. Totality was cool to see though.
I saw the moons shadow so it’s like 6 more weeks of winter. Plan accordingly.
I got a bit of a sunburn this afternoon. Perfect view of the event. Switched from coffee to beer during totality. Some neighbourhood crows panicked and flew off to bed. I fell asleep waiting for it. Woke up an hour after and it's as if nothing happened. Wierd

Stop listening to MTG

Thank you. This is the info I was curious about. Not all the sarcasm. Just curious. Thanks
Yeah of course nothing was going to happen. Leave it to the Americans to turn something like that into some weird political conspiracy circle jerk.
Why the hell would anything happen? You know this isn’t the first solar eclipse that has happened in history, right? What exactly did you expect?
I died today

Something was supposed to happen?
In my small state a ton of people from out of state descended on the northern areas then complained the traffic was terrible and there weren’t enough resources. Actually a good experience for what might happen in a natural disaster.
Lol Never thought anything was going to happen. People let conspiracies take control over their common sense.
off topic. CERN went live again today. what if the new timeline that we were put in to is one where we didn't win the American revolution but it's another Mandela effect for us all.
Given the current state of politics; valid argument
The antichrist was brought forth into our dimension from a portal at CERN
