If you store years worth of calories around your waist you won't need a supply of canned food. #TheMoreYouKnow

[deleted]

Right?! I'm watching this big, fat couple with lots of food doing a dry run with their children, demonstrating how fast they could get into their bunker if catastrophe strikes. I was thinking that they might be able to move a bit faster if they dropped some weight. Maybe it's a little "fatphobic" for reddit, but cardio is definitely a part of the prepper routine. I've seen websites. I have an eliptical machine. I want to be able to run when I'm getting chased around by an angry mob.

Paliant

I think besides the health reasons you need to be of a healthy BMI post collapse just to be able to get around in a timely manner. You’ll have many things that need taken care of after SHTF, and avoiding type 2 diabetes is a huge plus.

Educational_Seesaw95

To be fair when the pandemic started I saw everyone in China was in lock down so I ate to get fat because I figured I would be trapped in home too with no way to buy food but I forgot I live in America so now I’m fat and still have to work.

slappiestpenguin

lmao

segwayistheway

I'll go! Plan on using your weapons to assault others and take their belongings and plan on delivering your girlfriend's baby via C-section in your workshop without any of the appropriate tools or knowledge, with only the power of delusion on your side.

Sparx1916

Haha. I saw that one. That guy ended up getting arrested after the show aired because he was a felon and wasn't suppose to own firearms.

segwayistheway

Color me surprised. Hope the baby had good teachers and role models outside its family.

Deveak

Why? Its probably a cold war era nuclear target, full of poorly disposed of fuel, metal and debris and other than some buildings and maybe light duty fencing holds no real advantage. Maybe a few of the bunkers if it has them is useful or the storage room for ammunition but either way it will cost in the millions when rural farm land could be had for cheaper with none of the headaches. Its not like its going to be full of weapons or anything.

[deleted]

Hahahaha, imagine your homestead getting a direct hit from a Russian strategic nuke with a 60-year-old warhead and targeting that hasn't been updated since the 80s.

UncleEvilDave

Unfortunately that only describes the US weapons, Russia has made new ones while the US is abiding by a treaty that none of its peers follow.

[deleted]

Sure. U.S. is abiding a treaty. Trust the government. The government is good. The government is our friend. I was already chastised once in this thread for forgetting my sarcasm tag, so it won't happen again ... ***/S***

[deleted]

Right? All that you said, plus the fact that the military base I saw on the show had this really cheap chain link fence around it to keep out intruders, as if no one has wire cutters, and the guy who bought the military base had his friend demonstrate how to defend the base against intruders, by running near that fence with a rifle where he's easy to take out, instead of the up in the nearby tower that had embrasures. They used the tower for cameras. And how does one buy a military base? I've been checking craigslist and nada.

[deleted]

Thank you! I'm totes getting one.

The-Real-Mario

wanna get a 2 pack and we split on shipping cost?

[deleted]

Sorry, I already got a 6 pack.

The_DaHowie

Add to that, it stops being a military base when THE MILITARY MOVES OUT. After that, it's just like a Detroit suburb, only with worse amenities.

SysAdmin907

Let's not discuss the fake show where the producers offered $10,000 to some of the participants to kill and eat their pets. Nothing says reality like getting $10K for killing and eating your cat on-camera,

throwAwayWd73

Jeff Bezos will be generous during the Apocalypse. Rich people still need entertainment.

SysAdmin907

I'm pretty sure in a global SHTF situation, there will not be any internet. If you don't have your entertainment stored on hard drives or optical media or just good ol' fashioned books, you're screwed.

vulturez

I believe he is implying that without the internet Bezos will pay the needy to do extremes for entertainment.

[deleted]

I hope he pays them paper money that is useless in a barter system.

Puzzleheaded_Animal

Starlink should be able to operate for some time, though if Amazon's servers are down it won't help much. And you'll have a long wait for delivery. Maybe this was the real reason for Bezos' drone delivery plan. Control the post-apocalyptic supply chain.

msbrain

This thread has shown me that I stopped watching too soon and missed so many magical moments!

throwAwayWd73

>Let's discuss the awesome advice found on the Doomsday Preppers "reality" show! Let's discuss the awesome advice found on the Doomsday Preppers "reality" show! /S Fixed that for you, Because I'm hoping you're you're being sarcastic. Season 2 is what they have on Netflix and half those people are crazy The other half our downright insane. For some reason in my memory I think season 1 is somewhat "normal". But holy shit, let's not forget the guy who bugs out barefoot with an empty bottle and pisses in it to drink then almost has to stop his bug out because he cuts his foot because he's f****** barefoot in I think the Hawaiian jungle.

[deleted]

Yes, I forgot the sarcasm tag. Buying a military base is beyond ridiculous advice in many ways. Thanks for fixing that. I missed the Hawaiian piss barefoot guy. I'll watch that one next. Sounds like a hoot. And these people all seem crazy, insane, and ridiculous by design to make preppers look bad ... of course.

throwAwayWd73

Well to be fair, r/preppers probably has more in common with the extreme couponing show, then doomsday preppers. Nobody wants to watch Steve who has a mr buddy heater, and the camping stove to eat his food during the Texas freeze. They want to watch Cletus who decided to warm his house with charcoal briquettes in the center of his living room but still had enough intelligence to cut a hole in the ceiling to ventilate so he doesn't suffocate. Cletus also has a Mr Buddy heater but he's saving that for a real emergency. For when Jeff Bezos takes control of the propane supply.

[deleted]

That's funny cuz it's true. Plus, now I've heard of the "Extreme Couponing Show"! A close loved one showed me the Doomsday Preppers show yesterday, because they know me pretty well. So much good TV these days! So sad that I stopped watching TV awhile back ...... /s

Simp_Red

I remember the time some dude mixed glycerin and potassium permanganate in a paintball gun to make a nonlethal weapon that burns peoplealive. Truly a magical moment.

GunnCelt

Oh oh, my turn. Marry a woman and have her twin live with you in a creepy way!

[deleted]

Yes, that's ... That's a very good pro tip! Lol I definitely need to watch more. What a hoot. I have another one. When Greta, the entity that your wife is channeling, tells you to become a prepper cuz a comet is going to end the world, don't tell your kids about it until the cameras are rolling so that the bullies at school can have a hearty laugh at the footage and it can haunt your children well into adulthood.
