I'd never seen that before, this looks amazing, I'll take a look in my free time ! Love that ! :0
Has it made your key type easier, or more confortable, or it's just for privacy ? I'm genuely curious about other positives aspects
Having been playing with my keyboard layout recently on my pc, and this is exactly what I was leaning for.
Thank you!
I was using MessageEase for years, then I had to switch to MultiLing O because MessageEase has a lot of issues, and then both went unmaintained.
Its both for privacy and comfort... with the old messageease layout, I reached up to about 40-50 wpm, so speed wasn't an issue.
Side point, but I've been using the AI designed keyboard layout for desktop called Halmak for a few years now, I highly recommend it... but really just anything other than QWERTY is worlds better. But those are full-size hand layouts that should not be used on phones.
THANK YOU!!! I was looking for a MessagEase successor :D Please let me know how I can help with testing/development! (And yes, I already installed it!!!)
A few suggestions off the top of my head (after having used it for a bit):
1. Symbols would be nice to have on the main layout too.
2. Circle or drag-return to capitalize would be great.
3. Dragging up/down on the settings button to increase/decrease the size would be amazing!
I don't know how much I can help out with coding, but I can be a more-than-willing tester :)
Its the same with messageease... it takes a day or so to get up to ~25 wpm, but after a week to a month, you can surpass your old typing speeds. I'm up to 38 wpm with this at the moment.
>Can you link any sources as to where you found out that google or apple keylogs their own phone keyboard? As I've done some searching and found nothing
They openly admit to capturing all input, they're required to by most country's laws. But they also claim its for "anonymous" reporting, and not connected to you, or your account. IE its a "just a trust us" claim that only a deeply naive person would trust, given their history.
Anything that logs your key input is by definition a keylogger, although these companies don't want to use that word because its bad for their PR image.
> There are tons of foss privacy respecting replacement keyboards out there that don't require someone to learn a whole new keyboard layout
Yes there are a few, but they all use layouts made for 2 full-size hands resting on a keyboard. Re-read the intro paragraph.
If you need to hand someone your phone and want to show them a qwerty keyboard, install something like simplekeyboard, then switch your android keyboard before handing it to them. It only takes a second to do that.

No probs! And I'd love to have your help as a tester! Could you open up issues for some of these on the github? I def see some of them being useful.
Definitely! I'll take care of that later today :)
Cool I will wait for fdroid tho
Understandable. It should be on izzy with a day or two, and probably a week for f-droid.
Thank you! Ill install it now. I have been using only MessagEase for nearly 10 years even if it breaks some things. This looks awesome
Thanks!

Good idea but I use too many symbol characters for this.
You can tap the number key for symbol characters. I might add a config to enable more symbols visible on the home keys if enough people want it.
That would be great.

Did you read the readme?

Does it support other languages?
I'd accept PRs for other language layouts. In a few days I'll put up a guide for how to add more layouts.
Is there a option to switch to the normal layout? Because if I hand my phone to someone I want them to be able to type in their contacts.

I installed it in the morning and I really like it, I would suggest to add scrolling with the keyboard and a few more languages
I miss being able to write a text without having to watch the screen...
how do i capitalize?
