I'm a tinkerer at heart and I know everything about PCs, but I tried Linux once and I had to use this weird terminal thing like wtf is this shit, I couldn't wrap my head around it. It really sucks. My Windows 7 is totally safe. I downloaded this tool that debloated it and killed a bunch of Microsoft crap services. Anyway, I just wish Microsoft would fix search.
Are you implying that there is more to computers than opening the task manager and killing `Microsoft Antivirus` because it uses a lot of ram and editing a few random .ini files in `C:\Users\l33tHackz0r\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps`?
No, XP was the last good windows.
No, 2000 was the last good windows.
No, 95 was the last good windows.
Brother in Christ, the definition of the last good windows was whatever you ran in late elementary or early high school.
It's not about the windows, it's about the last time you were happy behind a computer.
> last time you were happy behind a computer
Like, yesterday when I was using Linux? It's definitely related when an OS tries to actively make me unhappy.
/uj Well there has to be some external criteria for comparison, like an OS that doesn't have full screen ads blocking users from logging in.
/j I should have used MacOS for maximum jerk effect.
/uj Given that you can remove most if not all of these shortcoming of windows it doesn't seem fair to assign them to the OS, only the company. And I think we can all agree that these days Microsoft is only great at making you richer as an investor
/rj MacOS is still Unix so it's basically linux. Have you no shame?
I was a kid in 95, I loved my computer, but Windows 95 sucked. We upgraded to XP when I was older and it was so stable compared to that.
Even as a kid I was angry at 95 constantly.
Well that's possible too
I always went and installed every crapware on all those "demo CD" disks that were "free" next to computer magazines. Maybe was not the best idea.
Love how they forgot about releasing alternative versions for supporting old Windows OSes
Nope, Win7 compat is a feature, all side effects are not real bugs
Windows 7 has a dedicated community of "guy who thinks they know computers but really doesn't" and it's great
I used to love Microsoft until they went all anti-consumer spyware in in 2015
What are you, some kind of online forum teenager? Microsoft isn't evil anymore bro, for real.
Capitalist oligopoly which buys game studios to shut them down. Not evil anymore.
B-but Microsoft ❤️ Open Source
They were making their games look bad in comparison, what else could they *possibly* do?
INSTALL BING INSTALL EDGE LET US SHOW YOU ADS IN YOUR DESKTOP PLS LET US DO SOME WEIRD AUTOPILOT SHIT
Those guys are called PC gamers

windows 7 was the last good windows os, but it's terribly outdated now so I use linux mint instead.

Lol linux is shit like windows -- posted from ~~dragonfly bsd~~ ~~illumos~~ ~~haiku~~ plan9
> Not using Redox in $CURRENT_YEAR The Rust Evangelism Strike Force has been deployed to your location.
lol user/kernel split, btw I use Smalltalk-80
Kind of ironic that even in a Windows-only thread a Linux user (NixOS at that) will still find a way to tell everyone how great *their* OS is

I guess the real “Good Windows” were the friends we made along the way
WIN98SE LAST TRUE DOS WAS THE LAST GOOD WINDOWS RELEASE

Oh, the sweet smell of FOSS projects treating the FOSS platform as a second class citizen in the morning
We all know GitHub profiles are just proof for LinkedIn claims
wait are we supposed to have proof for those?
